    Time for a chat. Why have I stopped recommending lift blocks, why do I keep saying CR-V rear suspension sucks and why did I lie about K-Swapping my CR-V this year?
    Talking-focused video with a lot of information - if that's not your speed, check out my latest video on the Offroad Evolution of my CR-V and find out where I stopped and where I'll be picking up from with the Honda.
    See you next time.

    Great insight on the realistic capabilities of the RD1,
    guys that still have these love them and I'm
    Interested in seeing what you do next with it.

      Thanks mate, a lot has to go into it if you want to actually achieve something and not just raise it to fit bigger tyres.
      Real suspension lift + offroad mods are possible despite what so many say, it's just whether you want to do the work!

    People LIFT their CR-V’s? Mine is totally stock and it already feels like it’ll tip over if I take a turn too fast. 😂

    • @isakjetbean
      @isakjetbean  Рік тому

      I can corner comfortably at 40ish km/h, haven't hit a corner where I've not been able to do the signed speed or above 😅
      Mine has slid corners, less tippy than you think, not that it's something I'd wanna try again.

    The RD1 is a great car, but it's not an offroader. Zero point in lifting it. The CV-axle angle is crap and 99% of lifting methods don't even give you more travel, just make it taller, like a useless mall-crawler. The gearing is too high as well. I love the CRV's, but lifting them ruins them. It's literally a 1992 honda civic suspension grafted on to a cuv.

    • @isakjetbean
      @isakjetbean  Рік тому

      Each to their own, to say zero point is dumb though.
      The point, at least for me, is the challenge. I like my rd1 and with work it can be an offroader.
      If it's not for you, that's fair enough, but don't discount it so quickly.
      That's the whole point of what I'm doing with it... Rebuild the rear to allow long travel suspension can be added (4" suspension lift, not blocks).
      Aside from that, 6.1 and 6.9fd exist for b20 gearbox. You can absolutely regear it how you need for offroad.
      If that's not for you, sure, but I don't need to be told what it's problems are, that's what my whole video is lol

      @Nobody Noone
      I have to ask - if you're not into offroading CR-V's, why come back to my videos?
      I'm not trying to be rude, but that's my whole demographic really.
      I just want to say that while I appreciate your comments and views, I am a little be confused - mainly as I've covered these points many times.
      So a few quick things to touch on:
      1. I've been mucking around with Lifted RD1's for about 4 years - I've said since the start that proper suspension lift is the real end goal.
      2. Lifted Hondas suck currently, I said just the geometry reasons why in this video. I've addressed the travel limitations before. It's only got stock travel, obviously, because you're limited by your strut travel. Long arm setup I talk about in this video is THE roadblock in doing that. Long travel shocks would bind and snap under our current rear setup.
      3. The CV axles suck, yes, but you can easily have CV shafts made using 6-roller ball inner cups and still using the rest of the CR-V axle design - this will work with long travel. Expensive? Yes, but so is replacing CV's from split boots.
      4. I've talked about the gearing about 4 times now - it's even on screen in this video. There are 6.1 and 6.9FD gearings available for the b20 gearbox. I have done all the math regarding KM/H at RPM on each tyre size I'm looking at. Even with stock gearing, stock power on 29" tyres, it goes fine. Learn how to drive it for the conditions and don't drive it like it has low range.
      I appreciate you think it ruins them, but from my perspective, doing it right makes it 1000x cooler.
      I just don't understand why you'll talk about why it sucks to lift it and how you don't even gain travel but 50% of what I'm discussing in the video are the challenges you need to resolve before you try and add lift or travel.
      Thanks for the views, hope this helps you see where I'm coming from.

    Just found your channel. I have a lifted rd1. It has the HRG spacers but I'm switching them for the truhart lift coilovers. Still in the box. Rolling on General grabber ats 215/ 75r15s. Ill probably do the 225. Fog lights in front and back. Rock lights in the near future. Black headlights. Clear/ smoked tail lights. Took out the rear seats and built a platform. The jerry can i put in place of the plate. I used motorcycle lights to light the plate. Welded some pipes to make the jerry can holder sturdy. I also bolted 2 a frames inside the tailgate to hold it up. Big item is the roof top tent. God bless

      How'd you go with the truharts? I've seen them but I don't personally trust them. I personally would go a custom rate spring from QA1 and a custom extended shock from Bilstein if I were to go that way. I got quoted on doing it a couple of years ago and it would be under $2k which I think is super reasonable.
      Some new parts incoming that should help with all that, I've been testing a prototype a little bit recently and am going to do a full install video on the parts when I get them.
      Glad to hear you're upgrading from spacers in any case. No shade to running them but my long term plan has always been to have all suspension lift, no spacers.

    • @BlessedVeteranAdventures
      @BlessedVeteranAdventures Рік тому

      @isak.jetbean I haven't put them on yet. I'm not sure how they are, but def better than spacers.The only reason why I got the lifted coilovers bcuz no one could tell me what shocks and springs would work with our setup. I asked a lot of folks on here and got crickets. 2k sounds like a good deal. I look forward to seeing what you do. April, I'm going to get back on the build. Been sitting since Oct. The good thing is miles aren't going up lol bad is seeing so many on the road. I want to show mine off. God bless

      @@BlessedVeteranAdventures Hi there! Hows the Truhart coilovers been? I'm planning to put those but a bit worried about the geometry of my RD1. I honestly dont have much knowledge in this but I did some reading and a lot of people seem to recommend doing subframe drop as well to even out the lift. Not really sure if thats only the case for spacer lift or also for suspension lift as well (?)
      Im also not sure what other parts from Truhart I should get, Im thinking their front and rear upper camber kit are kinda a must, but not sure about their rear lower control arm (?)
      Already spent weeks on RD1 forums and youtube videos and most of the advice is related to lifting using spacers. Theres so far little to nothing information regarding this Truhart coilover lift. Anyway, any sort of help and advice would be much much apreciated!
      Note that Im only planning to do 2" lift with their coilovers. I noticed the truhart ones can do 2"-3.5", but yea Im probably not gonna go that far.

    • @BlessedVeteranAdventures
      @BlessedVeteranAdventures 2 місяці тому

      @putraarief7519 Get truhart lifted upper control arms and rear control arms. They are stronger. Aerogenics has upper control arm spacers that will help level the front. So that your c arm isn't bent down. Subframe drop if you are going 2 1/2 inch or more lift. Then you need rear toe kit, rear control arms. Coilovers are just like stock but you can adjust and more comfortable.

      @@BlessedVeteranAdventures ayyy thank you! Didn't expect to get a reply since this is such an old post. Alright then I'll get those. But do I really need the spacers? It's just that I don't live in the states and the shipping cost is just too expensive. That's why I was actually looking to buy stuff from one company. I genuinely thought that those Truhart stuff would be enough....

    Damn. So much needs to be done if it is to be done properly. I love my crv, but now I'm thinking if I should even overland it since that's what I am building mine for.

    • @isakjetbean

      It really just depends how far you wanna take it.
      Most stuff they're good for if you want reliability you just need clearance. Big lift is cool but not always practical.
      For exploring and not harder 4wd obstacles, it'll do it well on lift springs +1" lift. None or 0.5" subframe drop, 225/75s it'll be awesome and not need nearly as much.
      But there are more practical vehicles out there that aren't too much more expensive for harder stuff - imo Honda's are cool, and if you're an enthusiast it can be worth it

    Sorry about a couple of messy graphics on this one. I had a bunch of issues with Adobe and almost gave up on posting it.
    Hope everything makes sense to peeps and thanks for sticking around despite the lack of CR-V videos this year.
    The new parts for my rear end are on their way so some really cool updates for the CR-V Coming REALLY SOON!

      I have my camber drop plate, have for over a month - my Christmas break was meant to be 2 weeks of crv and 1 week of time off. Instead it was 2 weeks of towing and helping my bro fix his Surf after a crash. Bought all this steel and paint for the Honda too 💀
      I just spoke with him today and he's actually finished making the final iteration - they're looking great, I'm hoping to finally have some crv stuff done in a few weeks
