You know... you can just buy thread converters. Since all cheap tripod mount plate are 1/4" threads, you just need to get the converter to 3/8" like the1/4" to 3/8" Convert Screw Adapter (amazon it). Then you're all set. No need to damage or mod your cheap tripod.
I forgot to ask you, I have been wondering about using Vanguard PH-32 Panhead with some cheap Tripod Legs, perhaps you have any knowledge on this. I zeroed in on few Cheap Tripod Legs: Photron Stedy Pro 560 and Photron Stedy Pro 520 Sonia PH 770, Sonia PH 8 Simpex 2400, Simpex 3600, Simpex 691 and Simpex 880 Omax Ph660 and Omax Ph770 Digitek DTR 550LT Fotopro Digi-9300 Pixtek PT-203 It is hard to find information on whether the above mentioned tripods have heads which are removable.
why didn't you just take of the targus head from the tripod, It looks like it's possible. It should be a standard 3/8" or 1/4" bolt (If it's a 1/4" then there are adapters available...)
Nicklas Broberg Larsson I don't think that part comes off on this cheap tripod. I did this same mod on mine but I'd prefer to remove the entire head but I don't think it's possible. :-(
Good video. You're fun to listen to and watch. Hope you make more vids.
That is very ingenious and you have a nice voice too.
+jai singh Thanks man!
That is what I had originally thought as well. Unfortunately, the head was not removable. Hence, this video tutorial (:
Good idea :-)

+jai singh I actually have no knowledge of this! After working with the Targus for a while, I made enough money to grab some manfrotto sticks (:
+PolarMusicStudios Ok, no problem and thanks for the reply :)
