      @@StudioBonn well, it is very difficult not to realise the huge design and building process behind that stunning item.

    WOW! This is a thing of beauty. I came looking to see how to make a DIY mid-level tripod spreader and found this. I know you did this for a video tripod, but you just made the perfect tripod for a heavy telescope. I love this idea and have access to all the tools necessary to make something similar for myself that's adapted to my needs. I know it's been years now, but do you have any update on this DIY tripod? Do you still use it/love it? Do you still think all the time you spent making it was worth it? You have absolutely inspired me!

    • @StudioBonn
      @StudioBonn  Місяць тому

      Hello Jennifer, thank you for your kind comment! The idea to use the tripod for a telescope was on my list, but unfortunately there are some more important things to consider...
      I use my triopod well and it was no wastet time to realise it - my longtime thoughts tells me, that I was right to work it out! Please contact me under studiobonn@gmail.com and I will give you a little more detailed informations about the middle spreader. And my other video on my channel ua-cam.com/video/tXTcUc725Jw/v-deo.html Sorry, only in German language but you can use the youtube translation...

      Hello, I think you talk about the halfbowl-adapter (the big gray item in the middle)? It is a part from Sachtler. I bought it from the Sachtler onlinestore in 2016 for 140,00 Euro. Meanwhile the organisation around Sachtler is combined with other brands like Vinten or OConner, Bauer… it’s called partsstore.vitecparts.com but the link doesn’t work inside that homepage. So I would start searching again with Sachtler and maybe local servicepartners… I’m sorry that I couldn’t give a better information

    Great video!! I want to utilize some very good tripods that I already have but I need the center monopod that adjusts up and down how can I make this relatively inexpensive. I am using the Caldwell Magnum Deadshot field pod for one of my tripods and the Bog-Pod Death Grip for another tripod. I did not like the tops of either one so please help me out, Thanks Randy

    • @StudioBonn
      @StudioBonn  3 роки тому

      I would build it up like a pedestal. But far away from inexpensive or easy to do. With a power-cylinder (from a chair (dangerous!)) and a new mechanism for up and down. I've seen tripods with a friction drive and a crank but not stable - more like a childs toy.
      To do that it will cost a lot of time and some tests until it can placed into an existing tripod... it sounds interesting to me but unfortunately I have changed my working place so I'm not longer able to use a workshop! And in my house there is no place... I hope I could give you a small idea to think in the right direction...

      @@StudioBonn Thank you Sir for sharing with us.. I can imagine how pleased you must be to just simply solve that problem.. and then went beyond by producing a Top Class piece of work : ) . I needed a 'cage' with lens (For heavy vintage Vivitars etc.,) support for my little D5100 for video.. It took 4 evenings - hard wood bits and pieces and metal rods.. painted with cheap artist black acrylic.. Now delighted.. Problem solved..

    how are the leg clamp designs done? are the clamps just pure metal against metal? or did you insert some sort of material to increase friction?

    • @StudioBonn
      @StudioBonn  7 років тому

      Seung Hyuk Choe Hello, thanks for your question. Well, there is nothing inside the clamps, just pure metal on metal...but it works great! Stable enough for more than 60 kg!

    Why do I think that it's too heavy??

    • @StudioBonn
      @StudioBonn  4 роки тому

      Because....it is! Lol, sorry... thanks for that question. Ok, I want to get a very sturdy tripod and I really don't want to have torsion dynamics as I told in the video. So it is rocksolid in the meaning of the words! In my studio or in a friends studio there is absolutely no question about the weight of a camera! A smartphone or a full rigged URSA, it doesn't matter.
      And for outdoor I have enough other tripods or gimbals or...whatever. "Too much" my wife would say ;-)
