Thanks for the ideas! 1 other mod we did was adding a plastic paint bucket from home depot in the storage hatch. It fits perfectly and keeps belongings from sliding to unreachable areas of the kayak!
You nailed my 3 biggest beefs with my Tamarack 120. The foot rest will really help. With the pool noodle adding a little bit more, the distance should be perfect. -I’m going to build a simple skag/ rudder that drops in on the stern with some parachute cord. I want it to track better when there is a strong cross wind. Have you had your Lifetime kayak out in a strong wind yet?? Great video!👍👍
Great video, you covered all my concerns. I bought the same heavy duty clips from your seller, didn't the the 15% option but no problem. Love the footrest idea! Maybe I'll enjoy my Lifetime kayak a bit more now!!
Hey Steph, thanks for the info on the seat clips. I'm refurbishing an Emotion Spitfire 9 kayak and those are exactly what I needed. Happy paddling my friend. Jeff
I need the clips! My biggest problem is how they keep coming off! I'm bigger too, so ..... 😅 I'm going to do the pool noodle thing as well. Thank you! Hope the link is in the description.
Thanks! The camera holder is RAILBLAZA Kayak Camera Boom Arm with an extra selfie stick attached at the top for more height. It's attached to the kayak with a Yakattack MightyMount.
Nice simple little things you can do to improve your experience. For the clip you added on the seat, perhaps you've already tried and didn't like it, but have you considered looping it around what you want to tie it to and then clipping onto the cord itself? I haven't made any modifications to my own kayak (sit-inside by P&H, the Scorpio Mk2), but I did find a camera for motorcyclists that claims to have 8-ish ours of recording. So I want to create 1 or 2 mounting points for that (I'm a big fan of set and forget things).
Thanks Steph! We've been having the same problems with those clips. With the buckle from Etsy, are you able to tighten or lossen the strap to adjust the seat easily while you're kayaking? Or do you need to detach it from the anchor point to adjust it?
Attached through the back slits of my seat backrest is the strap that connects to the updated seat clasp, but there is also a bungee with hooks on both sides. What is the bungee with hooks for?
Big thank you to Josh, who makes the seat clips, for reaching out! He is offering viewers a coupon code STEPH15 for 15% off!
Love the footrest idea

Great idea! What size was the bucket?
@smkauthor it's the BEHR
1 gal. Empty Plastic Paint Bucket with Pour Spout Lid at Home Depot. They are listed for around $7.50 each.
Thanks!

Happy to help!
Thanks for the upgrade ideas. I have one. I am installing a cup holder, and handles today.

do you have an idea for a cup holder? My drink spills every time I get out and get in.
just got my spitfire 100 model , have not tried it yet, mine is a lifetime but all plastic seat, I also need the bucket for the sealed hatch
I love the pool noodle hack that's great. What kind of camera holder are you using?

Well done video. I was hoping one of the 3 was a seat upgrade. Geez those factory seats are junk

You can adjust it without taking it off, but not super easy.
Attached through the back slits of my seat backrest is the strap that connects to the updated seat clasp, but there is also a bungee with hooks on both sides.
What is the bungee with hooks for?
The bungee with hooks attach to spot on the kayak behind the seat. They hold the backrest upright.
I'm having difficulty finding a replacement backrest. Have you had to replace yours, by any chance?
I have not. You might want to check with Lifetime customer service.
Hi, what is the name brand of clips. Where to buy them?
Greatvtips! Thanks!
how did the strap pieces hold up, my regular one, one of them broke
The seat straps? No issues besides the clips that I replaced.
any ideas for better back support
I am trying to find that exact seat for mine do you know where I can order one the back piece
Try lifetime's website or amazon
Thankya ma'am 🤙
its uninteresting to see that your paddle is worth more than your kayak. I'm actually not opposed to that...
