Thats awesome with the outriggers. We got a ton of looks but we felt so stable with our outriggers.
I like this. I got a kayak from my cousin and I haven't even used it because the seat is low and I don't want to get my butt wet. I'm going to do this and finally go out to the lake and not wait for perfect weather to take the Job boat out.

I’ve got same seat …..tackle storage underneath now . One suggestion install a rudder …I made my own out of nylon cutting board . Works great tracks straight

We absolute love our setup with that seat. We have no issues with spending 8 hrs on the water!

I have the same seat and finished a 6hr tourney and could still feel my legs after sitting for so long.

I have stood up on these kayaks with the outriggers attached. I would never try to stand without them. Changes your fishing game for sure!!

Hey man, great video! This may be the solution I’ve been looking for. Question...how do you have the seat oriented with the deck loops so you can tightly zip tie them? If you can post a picture that would be awesome! Thanks!
All we did was center the seat location in around or about where the other seat was. No specific spot.
How’s the seat for comfort? Looks like the top bar could be uncomfortable on your back? Thinking of adding a couple to my Jon boat.
Did you go with the 20 inch extra wide seat? I just got mine and gonna buy a stadium seat. I've heard the 20 inch wide fits a little more snug but want to make sure before I buy. Tight lines!
Just the 20" wide should be just fine. The photo where and what it is should be in the video. Its a walmart in their sporting good section.

Man that puts so much leverage with the seat back, zip ties to plastic pad eyes with aluminum rivets, nice concept ,but I’m kinda betting against you on this one, but I will say got luck
We have had no issues with the seat in its location. Actually, worked amazingly which the seat is still on the kayaks to the day. You can pick up the entire kayak from those zip tied eyelets.

Yeah it was. It was 19.00 I believe but it works awesome. My cousin is on his second year with his.

What part of upstate NY are you at..? I fish outa a Kayak as well and live in the Utica area.
We do a lot of fishing out of Schoharie county but travel to some spots in the Adirondacks also. I have friends that live in Utica.
@@Melvinskayakfishing my aunt and uncle live in Amsterdam so I fish the Sacandaga quite a bit, and head up to the st Lawrence often.., but fish a lot in between the 2..
How have the pop-rivets held up? Have any pulled free from the hull or come loose?
Not a single one popped out. I was shocked too that they could hold up the abuse.

Would you happen to know anyone who rooftops their yaks with the seat attached? I like to rooftop my yak top side down, but the seat won’t fit my roof racks. I tried transporting with topside up, but it felt very uncomfortable. The only solution that I can think of is cut the zip ties before transport and put new ties before getting in the water. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.
My cousin always roof topped with his car. Even at 65 mph he never had an issue. He put on after market roof racks and put up 2 kayaks on J hooks. Never fell off.

It was a cheap one from Harbor freight. Nothing special but having the right size drill bit is key with rivets.
It still works like a charm.
This threw off my center of gravity and my yak kept trying to tip. Not sure if this is the best alternative.
It did for us also. We ended up making outriggers for all the kayaks and that balanced perfectly. We were on a budget, but it got us out on the water.

What is that tool your using to put the pad eyes ?
Rivet Tool is being used to secure the pad eye to the kayak. They make a ton of different sizes but needs to fit into the hole of the pad eye.
Just installed mine. Do u feel comfortable on the water with the 4-5 inch height difference? Scared I’ll feel wobbly ??

The rivets just pop out like nothing after I installed em into the plastic. Did I do somethin wrong?
What size rivets (length) did you use? Ours have last sense last year. Could be the rivet gun wasn’t pushed down in hard enough?

Does the seat make it unstable because you're sitting up higher?
It does at first but eventually we put down riggers on them for stability. It takes some time getting use to. They best part is when your fishing when it’s chilly your ass don’t get cold or wet lol.
Did you use metal eyelets ???
No we used plastic ones off Amazon. They have them for cheap.

Ive seen so many people use zip ties why not stainless steel hose clamps
For us zip ties are cheap and easy to replace. They also have the ability to work if it isn't lined up perfectly straight. Give it a try and let us know if you like it that way.

Walmart and I forger the brand name but only cost $20
Aligned the seat just like in the video but my side rails land right on the 2 front pegs which hold the factory seat in place. What keeping them from walking side to side. Did you add a spacer or shim to run over the top of the pegs?
We cut those tabs off and just pulled tight on the zip ties. Two zip ties per eyelet.

How did you get the loops fastened down?
We just used a rivet gun to fasten them down. They worked and held very well. Still have the same ones on each kayak.

Rods have fit perfectly and stay put with ease!
