- This time Santa (okay, Jeff Bezos - CEO of Amazon) brought us a Klein ET140 Moisture Detector Meter (around $40)! True, we hope it never gets a positive reading but as the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This model has a sensor rather than needle probes and the digital readout between 0-100% along with a colored gauge (green-yellow-red) along with an alarm signal for out-of-limit range makes it very helpful to detect the dreaded moisture in our RV. I wish I could remember more than half of the inspection steps the RV inspector went through when I bought my RV. Yet another set of video I should do!
Always good to know if you have damp, so you can sort it before it gets too bad.
Right on - just like going to see the Dr or Dentist, hoping they won't find anything but best to catch ills early, just in case...
Does that work for temperature as well? I could use something to detect drafty spots so I can insulate better. Another fantastic video!!
Depending on the temperature differential (cold spot) that you might not readily feel, you could try using an affordable infrared temperature readout device or a thermal leak detector.

To get more geeky to find a subtle draft that is hot or cold, folks use a thermo-anemometer but that's beyond the budget for most if it's just a one-time use. But believe it or not, using a cigarette lighter around cracks (especially windows) is an excellent affordable way to find air drafts:

Hmm, good question. I'd say when you detect moisture using whatever method (visual, detector, smell, touch), it's an indication to consider at least peeking under the veneer. And more importantly NOW is the time to start investigating the root cause of the leak around seams, windows, doors, vents and anywhere that water may be entering your RV.
Id rather buy a Japanese motorcoach or travel trailer. Im fed up with quality control. What is wrong with the builder. My goodness.
Maybe read the manual before doing a review so you know how to operate the tool
