The shift from "It doesn't matter whether he is 10 stone or 13 stone, the Norwegian players are in awe of him" to "FACKING PAUL, COME ON!!!" is perhaps one of the greatest pieces of editing ever.
@@colinjennings3661 I think football has just modernised so much since then too. This sounds like Sunday league management now. But yeah, Neil hasn't come out of thus looking great haha
How can anyone play football with 3 bozos shouting and swearing at you the whole time? Neanderthal. Now I undestand how Southagte learned from that nonsense and did the total opposite. Result : World Cup semi,Euro final.
The amount of hoof ball rubbish these guys had international players doing. No wonder they lost all confidence in the management team. Phil Neal captained some of the greatest passing Liverpool teams across Europe and put no input at all into these players
Graham Taylor had the perfect set up to literally pass the ball wide and he forced long balls from 1 box to another 🤦♂️ Terrible tactics but overall what a hero in the game 👊🏽
I had my doubts about the Norway match back then, and they were indeed very methodical. Very, very tough to break down. Even though England didn't get anywhere against them in the campaign and Norway qualified for the 1994 World Cup, their negative approach didn't win them many fans-aside from the Norwegians of course. I still remember one of the commentators saying it would be a great bonus they were going out of the competition back then. :)
Very funny and incredibly depressing at the same time. Some great players in that team, played out of position and in weird formations by a manager horrifically out of his depth.
Arse licking Taylor and agreeing with everything he says. Tony Adams said in his autobiography he had no respect whatsoever for Neal and McMenemy. Shambles .
"I will be making changes to the team" Southgate "i wont ever make changes to a struggling team" Southgate and the players couldnt handle this amount of criticism, they are having it easy , yet they are acting like they are being targeted unfairly, Taylor had it everyday , to the point it was personal, the media and pundits tell the truth about southgate and they act like the world is against them.
This always has me crying with laughter after a few seconds. 'You tell 'em Les, they perhaps can't see you!' Alan Partridge before Alan Partridge. Taylor really missed his true vocation.
Exactly, Taylor had to put up with the worst set of players that I can remember, he was trying everything to make it work, OK he made mistakes, but you can't polish a turd. Southgate has had riches of talent to create an eleven that can give winning a tournament a good go , yet he has no clue what he is doing. If Taylor had this lot I bet he would get them playing , away from England he was a very good manager , as a villa fan he had us finishing 2nd , not long after we got promoted back into the first division.
@@steve10 Riches, what riches? If they were any good they would have done it years ago - the record books don't lie. Our record is slightly better than Belguim but stylistically we have a lot in common with them and you wouldn’t expect them to be challenging every two years. Just accept it, don't expect a great deal and you'll sleep better.
Lawrie McMenemy, Phil Neal & Graham Taylor(RIP) - thanks for the comedy entertainment from all Scotland fans around the world 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Goalkeeper was useless. If he had stood up he would saved both goals. Why does he collapse to the floor like it.both times.did Chris woods ever play in goal again for England ? hope not.should have thrown off the plane.A crap keeper.
quite simply, the greatest sport documentary ever made...it needs - or, rather, demands - a DVD release
Still the greatest documentary ever made.
The shift from "It doesn't matter whether he is 10 stone or 13 stone, the Norwegian players are in awe of him" to "FACKING PAUL, COME ON!!!" is perhaps one of the greatest pieces of editing ever.
At 3:54 the way they both fold their arms at the same time makes me laugh a bit.
Whenever I get down I put this on and in seconds I'm literally crying with laughter. Thank you, Graham. RiP
I can't get over just how inept neal and mcmenemy look. Taylor did himself no favours surrounding himself with these clowns.
They do come across as inept, by Mcmenemy at this point had a very respectable and long career as a manager and was well respected in football.
The bit where Taylor and Neal fold their arms at exactly the same time is beyond parody. The laurel and hardy of English football.
@@colinjennings3661 I think football has just modernised so much since then too. This sounds like Sunday league management now. But yeah, Neil hasn't come out of thus looking great haha
The absolute resignation in his voice as he says "We're in trouble 'ere" just before the Norwegian nestles the second goal...😂
No matter how many times I watch this, it still gets me every time. Brilliant!
It's up there with the Office.
It's a shame it never worked out for Graham at England, you could tell that he really cared and was passionate about the job. A true gent RIP Graham
You can't, you can't wait and expect to deliver that! Lol. He was right, the players let him down big time there
Never ages. Absolute quality.
"You're too late, you're too late, you can't wait... you cannot wait that time and then expect to deliver that! Fucking hell."
I absolutely love this documentary, there’s absolutely golden quotes right through it. This is one I’d forgotten!! 2:58

what an absolute shambles those players looked. let their manager down big time.

These clowns made Mike Basset look like a fucking genius.
Brilliant. Graham's parrot on his shoulder, or should I say Phil Neal, repeating everything Taylor says.
RIP Graham.
Now then, Now then this is a real test lol
This is a real test.
Phil Neal's hand gesture at 2:27. Knowledge.
... and the way they mirror each others gestures.😄

the comedy on the bench is only matched by the comedy of our defending...its so inept words cant do it justice...see also Poland away for a gem
‘You’re in the side to deliver pal.. ‘ 🤣
best bit of tv EVER
Interesting stuff! I really didn't like their management style, never really got the best from the England team of that era.
Watching this in the States, I'm waiting for any documentary on the U.S. Men's Soccer Team trying to make the 2018 World Cup.
The documentary makers really stitched up poor Graham with this one, lol.
Phil Neil is being paid to do nothing! What is he actually doing
Arse licking Taylor and agreeing with everything he says. Tony Adams said in his autobiography he had no respect whatsoever for Neal and McMenemy. Shambles .
phil ' the robot Neill '.
"Gascoigne's all over the shop"
Buying mars bars 😂

Don't blame him
Phil Neal to be the next England manager.
Taylor.. Legend.x
He was a really a lovely man. Rip

Should be mandatory to all would-be football managers. Real test - real class.

Never knew where Mike Bassett England manager was inspired from... and the parrot coach
Mike Bassett is more believable than this.
What the heck did I just watch?!!
What a knob head, telling them his approach before the game!
it's a documentary, probably didn't release before way after the game..

Almost as comical as the current regime

Norway deservedly won the match!
