2010 Formula Drift Round 1 - Falken Tire Takes Long Beach

- LONG BEACH, CA The inaugural event in the 2010 Formula Drift season began with a big win for Team Falken where factory driver Vaughn Gittin, Jr., debuting his new 2011 Monster Energy Falken Tire 2011 Ford Mustang on the famed street course of Long Beach. Gittin, Jr., and Team Falken faced a very competitive field of entrants, totaling 53, one of the highest entry counts in the history of Formula D.
Team Falken had a full complement of drivers at the popular track, the fifth year Formula D has visited Long Beach. In addition to Vaughn, rounding out the companys paddock and marketing activation areas were returning team members Daijiro Yoshihara in his rebuilt Discount Tire Nissan 240SX (S13); Tyler McQuarrie with his Nissan 350Z Convertible; and Darren McNamara, with his Saturn Sky in new Falken livery. Adding to the excitement of the weekend was the addition of several new faces to Falken including Justin Pawlak in his 2010 Ford Mustang and Formula D rookie James Deane who shocked the crowd with his aggressive driving in Falken's Nissan S15. Independent drivers on Falken Tires included Ross Petty, John Russakoff, Dean Kearney and Fredric Aasbo.
2010 will certainly be a busy year for Team Falken. Next stop, Road Atlanta.
Congrats FalkenTire, i think you definetely have managed not only to assemble the best group of pilots out there, but you're also supplying them with what seems to be the BEST rubber on FD!
Hope you guys keep supporting pilots like James Deane and Frederic Aasbo if they keep on driving FD, best of luck for the rest of the season to everyone at Falken.

1:51 is so epic, his rear bumper skims across the cement wall while the spoiler thats sticking slightly further back hits the cone clean off the top of the cement wall, took me a few replays through the video to catch that one.

@skylineXpert the ford mustang is driven by Vough Gittin jr. ,sponcered by falken tire on 2009, u know the blue and green paint finish, this year monster sponcered him so they combined falken tire and monster paint finish, looking freakin sick!!

@serriously Actually, some 86s came w/ a stock 140hp. Just not in America. The 4a-GEs that came with the 20v heads aka "silver tops".

ae86 are frigging drift legends there so under estimated when in fact other then an r32 skyline the ae86 is my dream car and yes i did just say that for all you haters! xD love you to btw

@setonas23 AE86 wasnt the only rear wheel drive corolla it was the last rear wheel drive corolla before AE86 all corollas were rear wheel drive

@shynobithief Supra isn't part of the team, it just runs their tires. and you missed daijiro yoshihara's Discount Tires LS2 S13. some OEM will prob sign them their next car

@evo4drift So true. The Japanese have LONG fast corners, America have these slow short tracks. Sort of annoying when im watching SBS or ESPN or Episodes online, where Vaughn from falken thrashes it and you never get too see enough action.

@nuocmat man you can drift with a stock AE86 corolla which has something like 130 hp. as long as its rear wheel drive you can drift. its 80% driver 20% car how i look at it

For a decent drift you might need more than a stock 86 rolla. Even in the wet those things struggle.
so if JR is in the white/black mustang, who's driving the aqua/blue one?
it has 113 Hp FYI, it has the 4A-GE engine 16 valve DOHC with.....113 HP

honestly i liked Ross Petty's livery from last year. the red in front looked better and the dragon looked better than the oni.. and i hope the whole epic symphonic music wont continue in every video. the irwindale vid rocked it but this one not so much.
