Ford 460 Emissions Delete

- Hey everybody, B-rad here. Today I am showing you how I deleted most of the emissions on my 86 F-350 that has carburetor, which is the stock holley emissions 4 barrel. It definitely idled better after plugging all the open ports. As I said in the video it has an exhaust leak that I am currently working on. Thanks for watching, hopefully this will help someone in the future. Thanks B-rad and don't forget to subscribe and like!

Your video helped me soooooooooo much!!! I inherited a 87 F250 from my uncle who passed away. It had sat for seven years and when I got it, I noticed a lot of stuff was missing and was having identifying issues with the carb. Have been puzzled for a few weeks and even posting on Reddit for help. Awesome video thank you again. :-)
Thanks for the info just finished stripping all that nonsense off my engine, and was having backfires thru carb. Your instruction on where lines go is gonna save me a lot of thinking.
I did this to my '87 460 with 45 k on it and it made a big diff in performance I didn't bother to take any of the intake ports off I just capped them. I did need to tinker with the carb idle speed and adjusted the fuel bowl floats but that was not a big deal.ALSO on the exhaust tubes I cut them off high with a cut off disk ,put some silicone in the ends and crimped them with vise grips, worked great.
I cut the flange off my EGR an welded the hole up worked great
I all ready got rid of my smog pump now I know how to remove it all thanks
Exactly what I needed :)
Nobody noticed the wire came off of the distributor and he is by it multiple times
Thank bud. One problem down. Now my electrical thats fried only accessories i can see but there are alot to go threw
Thanks for posting.
Lars Turner proabably not much if anything, I have an Edelbrock intake to put on, and I just need a diff carb to install, and it should take it up a little
B-Rad, I have an 1985 F250 with 351W and I have similar emissions stuff as you and I wouldn't mind deleting it. I had to put a new intake air manifold recently. The truck runs but doesn't idle and i can't figure out why. How did you fix the no idle on yours?
Previous owner of my truck (87 F250 460+Zf5) did this job and ran the vacuum advance to the same spot on the carb. Truck runs great. I don't know anything about any of that but thought I'd share. Also interested in getting rid of all the vacuum trees because they just bug me to see them capped off.
I have an Edelbrock intake that I am going to be putting on soon, to get of most of the clutter.
I thought about that as well but I'm about to buy a new carb and figured it wasn't worth a few more hundred bucks just for a cleaner look. I'll try plugging off the holes the way you did.
I have a 79 Lincoln Mark V 400 if I cut the belt off the air pump will it do any harm will it run better let me know
What did you do with the gas tank vent lines?
did you ever find the right plug at 6:20? And were the 3/8 inverted flare plugs, for the exhaust manifolds, loose?
I left that wood plug in it. No problems with it haha. The flare plugs are stuck tight, figured I better not mess with them and cause a bigger headache.
00:03:05 what is this cylindrical box? We have a 1986 Ford E-350 V8 460 CI with a C6 Transmission and this piece is bolted on a bracket under the hood. There are 2 hoses entering from the bottom and there is an open-ended hose attached to it on the side.
Not really sure, Sorry
i have a1989 ford econoline rv motorhome can i remove the smog air pumps and all the hoses just like this? im changing my exhaust manifold gaskets and i already have them removed.
Not sure on the efi motors, do a google search and you should find what you need.
do it
Had an 85 Ford I did that to, still got to take egr off.
I have a 351 4v and like you having problems idling and such, I removed the exact same stuff you removed but I also have this round plastic size ball mounted to the battery side fender well...do you know what does?.....oh by the way, not that it makes a big difference but National carb told me that the port you put the red cap on over the diaphragm on the carb is where the vacuum advance goes.
Not sure what the plastic ball is. I moved the vacuum line to the other port and it stumbled bad off idle when driving but then would clear up. So I put it back where it was. I am going to be putting an intake on soon with a new carb to be able to tune better.
Hey B-Rad, I have the same make/model and engine type I plan to follow your steps with. Any new advice since posting the video?
I have an Edelbrock intake, timing set, and cam for it next, otherwise still running good. Thanks for watching
@@BRadWilson3did you swap the carburetor? If so what did you switch to?
@@scotthooper4170 when I made this video I used the stock carb. But ended up later using a 600 CFM Holley
Did it give you any problems after plugging the carb vent tubes
It's still going.
I know this improves performance, but did it have any effect on gas mileage (for the better or worse)?
I don't keep track of mileage. It's a 460 it's bad all the time haha.
Im planning on doing the same thing to my 86 f350 daily driver so i can get to a leaky valve cover. Did you finish plugging the exhaust manifold? If so what did you end up using? Any other issues?
Nope, still driving it as is, A new non emission carb will be the next upgrade to make fine tuning it a little easier. There is not much carb adjust ability with the stock one. Thanks for watching!
Im looking at mine now--didnt notice before but looks like PO replaced original carb with non emission carb and capped lines. Belts are still running the air pumps and everything else is connected. I wonder what side effects this caused. Thanks again!
Hey when you were disconnecting the vaccum lines from the two boxes low in the passenger side, was there a line connecting to a rigid tube than ran back to the gas tanks? If so, do you remember what its for and what you did to it?
Yes, I believe there was a hard line that ran back, I just left it uncapped, probably a vent for the tank or something, not to sure.
B-Rad Wilson I have an 88 efi with like 5x the amount of b.s. help!
I heard that the charcoal canister needs to remain hooked up, and in place when doing this job. It keeps the inner engine air cleaner.
Did you have to change your timing or distributor?
I checked it with a timing light set to about 8-10 degrees. Same distributor
Do you think there was a HP increase???
Can you do this with an edelbrock carb
I would imagine you could but not sure.
B-Rad Wilson I unplugged everything like in the video but it’s not wanting to turn over or act like it’s getting juice
@@kylebogner7937 sounds like electrical if it won't turn over.
Pcv vale need to be on back
I wanted to see the stuff taken off piece by piece, no fun here.
I did this to my 1990 f250 7.5 460 hauls asss
If you put your foot down, this truck moves pretty good
Hey is it normal to smell gas ?
@@lawerenceortiz348 Not unless it's running rich, make sure your not leaking fuel.
a/c condenser ....WRONG
ITS a compressor, pal....
Calm down Nancy
