I think the biggest thing that pissed UMG off was that Tiktok is trying to run around using human created music by developing AI music and AI music tools for creators to avoid using human created music. No good will come to musicians if this happens, so I guess I'm mostly siding with UMG.
It's The Mars Volta box set as seen in his "Vinyl Update Is Back Babyyyyy!" video back in 2021. Not sure why it's diagonal though, if it's meant to be displayed that way or not
Bad for artists IMO, a lot of recent hit songs spread wildly through TikTok, whether it be through dances or memes that come out of the song. TikTokers will still be doing all the same stuff, just with royalty free music of non UMG music.
Nothing they can do if the label owns their masters. They only have 2 options: Buy the masters from the label or pull a Taylor Swift and re-record their whole catalog, both of which seem highly unlikely.
This is true but most of them don’t own their creations the label does so whatever is done with their work is not up to them. They must dismantle the industry leaders & inner politics.

UMG is actually the hero in this scenario, because by doing this they are directly killing TikTok 🤩
Real
that box on top of your bookshelf... is it diagonal on purpose? or is it falling over? i wonder about it every time i see it...
It’s diagonal by design. I’m pretty sure that’s the Gorillaz box set

UMG is just making it harder for their artists to get their music out there. Most big songs go viral on Tiktok first!
Shouldn't it be up to the artists to decide if they want their music on Tiktok or not?
Many probably do not have the ability to publish or allow their works to be used without permission from their music label
Probably depends on their contracts
Yes. Sadly, it's not that easy, if not impossible, to have control over your own work in today's society.

Corporations are both dumb, stupid and anti art
Artists should decide if their music should be on tiktok, not the corpo overlords
This

Let them fight …. Do t care they are all evil and fighting over scraps
W
ive already seen so many artists get completely fucked over by this, so fuck both tiktok and umg for not figuring this shit out
Tik tok and similar platforms should be illegal, no compromise.
dont like either but more on the side of UMG, since I listen to music, but not Tik Tok
UMG, as perhaps the greatest positive force in the music history for some time now, is taking another astronomical W
No one cares that you're first
