Thanks for the video! Did this job on my wife's Santa fe on account of the 1 inch hole in the diff after the kibble and bits decided they wanted out. Ended up unbolting a wheel bearing to get more clearance to remove the axles since I didn't have much room doing the job on jack stands.
No problem, Im glad my videos help my viewers,
Thanks for the reply with link to video… I did find it on your channel…. Very helpful. However my 2016 Sorento has rear sway bar that is a whole other challenge.
Thanks again!
remove the 4 bolts that hold the sway bar then move it out of the way.. thats all for that one. then remove then 2 lower bars under each axle.
Great video thanks
Santa FA sport 2.0T can be a headache if it’s not rear diff binding .. it’s the intercooler separating @ bottom like pac man , .. or waste gate actuator going out of phase .. my luck Plague with all 3 on my 2016 Santa Fe .. I have fixed both turbo issues now thanks to this gentlemen’s video I will be attempting to replace the diff .. , what next lol car hasn’t even Reached 100000 miles 🙄.. thanks for video 👍🏼
Well done ,thought it would be more difficult, thank you..
you are welcome
Great video, thank you for posting. I’m planning on doing the job with the vehicle supported on stands. If I remove one axle from the wheel bearing, do you think it will be necessary to remove the drive shaft?
i do it this way so there are less components to remove, i have never removed the axels in order to do this job, but this is the way i was taught by and older technician when i did some work as dodge.
Great video! What can go wrong with the vehicle when driven with a differential that’s not working??
Thanks, same thing happening to mine, only on low speeds and only on hard turns, someone said replace fluid first🤷🏼♂️
ua-cam.com/video/qDYfyDf1F9I/v-deo.html. Here is a video on how it works. Changing the fluid will not fix this issue. The fluid in the coupling is not serviceable. But the fluid in the rear diff is..
Thanks for watching
Lol I thought the same thing my Diff split open like an egg at 102,000 miles. Same thing mine happened at a stop sign 4 I thought the trans went out when it happened. This is not cool on Hyundai’s part and they should really reimburse the customer for this I’m $5100 in the hole because of this cheap ass car. I can’t wait to get rid of it. Thanks for the vid brother take care.
Should the shaft turn with all 4 wheels on the ground? Planning to do this replacement in my driveway using a pair of maintenance ramps.
Question how do I know my axles are all the way in? I couldn't get them to turn.. Thanks in advance.
They should be flush and you should have heard a slip pop sound if they are fully in.
Hi, I have Hyundai Santa Fe 2013 chassis number KMHSU 8lCSELL 291541. I need to get differential rubbers. 2 front rotors...where do I get this online as I live in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean and the local dealer doesn't have the part in stock...and they want an arm and a leg for it anyways
Can you point me in a direction that I can ship it online and stop getting stiffed by my local dealer
Pretty sure my 2011 needs a rear differential. I've replaced the coupler and it still binds up really bad. I disconnected the plug for awd and it has gone away about 90%.. you can still feel a little binding in reverse but not nearly as bad what I had awd plugged in at the coupler.
was it with a used unit or a new unit. also check for a updated part from hyundai or kia
Is it safe to drive the santa fe with the rear differential & rear cv axles removed? I have a 2002 and the rear differential is going out. Don't want to put much money in the car.
I would not advise it., But it is possible.. just wondering if you checked out a pick n pull or anything like that. A rear diff should not cost that much at one. if you're willing to take the time to remove it might as well put one back in? Just a thought.
i have a 2012 hyundai santa fe that does this only on turns and parking, the tires locked up and cause it to clunk. What's the clunk sound, and there is no chance that it is a computer issues. Lastly what's the cost just for the work, if i get the part on line.
If there is no DTCs related to the 4wd system I Highly doubt that there is a computer issue.. but Iam not there and cannot test drive the vehicle..
More than likely the coupling is locking up.. or you might have a u-joint/ drive shaft issue..
Thoroughly inspect the 4wd system. Before doing any type of replacement.
Thanks for watching.

What is the bolt torque for the axle carrier to the frame?
Hey how mani time it take you to do the complet job ?
1hr i believe
What is the cost of parts and labor for this project?
If you have a garage do the job roughly 700-1000$ if you try it yourself.. just a used differential. Your time and patience.
You didn't remove the wheels...?
Nope, not for this job.
@@JLsAutoSolution the axle was jammed on my car so you're right
i got money on it didnt fix the probem
Just replacing parts and not doing any diagnostics before hand, is not the way to repair your vehicles.. This video is more on how to replace and not how to diagnose.
@@JLsAutoSolution im just sayin this issue is common among these and they are very difficult to diagnose. Im having a similar problem .
@@burnyknob9502 I agree, that this is a known issue. The only that need to be changed if the owner didn't drive it into the ground is the "coupler" simple and less time. Ever the less good detailed video !!
Bad lighting, bad camera work and no explanation. I'd be better off just going for it and figuring it out for myself.
ive rebuilt a few differentials and this video is a joke
How so? Love the jokes that have no context.
