    As it sits, this is the Calligraphy line of Santa Fe. Just bought one for my wife yesterday. Waiting to have it brought in from the manufacturer in Alabama. Really beautiful vehicle.

    Hyundai has come a long way since they first started. I am currently driving a 2016 X3 and I love it, but Hyundai is now an awesome competitor to the usual BMWs and Mercs etc.

    Yup. Just got a limited trim grey interior. The tech is impressive. This is the same engine as the gv70. So a few modifications will increase horsepower and a new custom exhaust.

    Oh yes it is quiet! We had a 2021 Rav 4 Hybrid - it was so noisy we couldn't stand it within a month the fan had to be replaced under the passenger seat and then another fan type noise came from the back- and it couldn't be fixed - the doors and windows were rattling, the road noise was so loud and it just rode "rough" for the cost it was a big disappointment - so we are now the proud owners of a 2022 Santa Fe Calligraphy model and we could not be happier!!

  • @Gladiator1972

    Just picked up this exact vehicle after driving the 2022 Limited trim for 3 months prior. IMO, the Calligraphy is not worth the extra $$. The added features are gimmicks at best. The 20" wheels with lower profile tires make the ride harsher than the Limited with 19's, the ambient lighting is very dim even at night and at full brightness and it shows in 3 places in the interior. The HUD is hard to see during the day with shades on, and if you have it on, the speed limit (traffic signs) disappears from the instrument cluster.

    This was a great review, just what buyers need. I am looking for a mid sized SUV with a bench second seat and don't need a third seat. Two questions: 1. I want a quiet riding vehicle, is this quiet as compared to others in the class? 2. If you wanted to choose the top one or two competitors to this vehicle, which ones would u consider?

    • @gaijinblow
      @gaijinblow 2 роки тому +5

      I really like mine, it is pretty quiet. My old car had a sport suspension and low profile tires so I am used to hearing more road noise and feeling bumps. I don't know if it's a pro or con, but I kind of miss that feeling with this vehicle. There's another youtube reviewer who looked at the underbody and there was a LOT of soundproofing.
      I chose it over the Subaru Forrester, Toyota RAV4, and Honda CRV.

    Nice review. I am honestly thinking of a Calligraphy but have one huge issue and it's the placement of the rear blinker lights. Anyone other than me disappointed and worried about safety with the low placement of those rear blinker lights? I am baffled as to their placement. I don't want to be rear-ended or have issues trying to change lanes on the highway. Were the safety gurus at Hyundai asleep on this one??

    My wife just bought the Limited a few days ago. My initial thoughts are that it drives well, but there is nothing intuitive about the technology. It's just a mishmash of buttons. We'll eventually figure it out. By far the worst thing so far is that the speedometer is on the left side and tachometer on the right. I've driven dozens of cars over a 40 year period and never have I seen this configuration in the U.S. Terrible decision. Once a few people get killed looking at the wrong gauge and they get sued, they'll fix this and allow you to switch gauge locations.

    I just went and test drove the Santa Fe Limited earlier this morning (Saturday) and i'm looking at making the switch in the future from my current ride. However, the one I test drove today was not in the exterior color I want, same with the interior, and it was FWD which is fine but though I don't need it where I live at I'm thinking of giving AWD a try. All cars i've owned in the past have been FWD. the sales rep I worked with texted me saying they have another shipment of the Santa Fe coming in a couple weeks so possibly then i'll make the switch.

    • @2004cyrus
      @2004cyrus 3 роки тому +3

      @@brianl9944 it’s clearly not ripping anyone off. There is a thing called a chip shortage that is tremendously affecting supply. Most manufacturers are charging a market adjustment. My local Hyundai wants. $2500.00 over as of yesterday. Honda is requiring $3500.00. It’s just the reality we are in now. And I’m told by Toyota and other dealers this environment will last at least 3 years. The world is changing and the current president isn’t helping anything. Because nobody under 35 wants to go to work. So it’s the president ripping you off in more ways than you know. So…you either pay up or pass. But car dealers have to survive on only having 3-4 new vehicles to sell or they go out of business and you have to drive further and pay even more. If you are balking at a few thousand dollars then you probably ought not be considering a new vehicle. Dealerships ARE NOT running a charity. Lots of bills for them to stay afloat. Good luck out there.

    The base engine+transmission on the 2022 XRT is the worst in the 10+ cars I've owned. Acceleration power is virtually non-existent from stop or any speed. Forget about a quick lane change with oncoming traffic, or getting up to speed quickly from a stop. Perhaps this car is decent with the turbo engine, but otherwise stay away, much better options out there for the mid $30k spent on this car. There is also noticeable vibration on the steering wheel, as if the tires need balancing, even though it's brand new. I'm just shocked that an SUV in this price range and with so much competition can be such a disaster driving-wise.

But my new '22 Calligraphy with that 2.5T is very quick and smooth and a lot quieter engine than the plain 2.5. I'm just concerned about the longevity of these turbo fours. I'm thinking the V6 is just a stronger engine for a midsized SUV.

    Great looking vehicle. S. Korea is giving US, European and Japanese car makers a reason to be concerned. Once the dealership experience improves to compare with premium brands, then and only then Genesis and maybe Kia with its EV6 may lurer customers that won't but the new ugly BMWs and overpriced Benz's.
