"But.....but.....but, I MUST have 2.8 for low light!!!" - thank you for showing it's nonsense. I shoot live theatre promo photography with it all the time and it's performed flawlessly. This is a fantastic lens, with modern ISO performance I have seen about zero reason to haul around 2.8 glass any longer.

Thanks for the comment, i was always not sure about the f4, cause i thought i gone need the f2.8 for lowlight. I just bought the f4 renewed for 1100, use it on my LUMIX s52!

For that matter, you can have perfectly usable and Instagram worthy shot like this 11:06 even with an iPhone. If all you are doing is posting online, you don't even need a full-frame, or even an APS-C sensor camera, an iPhone is good enough.

However if you are a wedding photographer and try to sell grainy pictures like these, you will not get any business. That's the situation where the 2.8 glass will be worth every penny.

Love using the old S5 and Lumix cameras in general so its good to see you using one and getting your thoughts as a sony user which are generally considered the best at the moment. Great video Sam 👏

Vera nice. I love the colour editing. Also, the highest ISO images are still useable for digital publishing or even stylised prints. This is truly impressive! BTW, I have the S5IIX, the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 and the Lumix 50 mm f1.8. To cover my telephoto needs, I'm considering the new Sigma 70-200 f2.8, and then its 2x teleconverter for planes and wildlife - because this means f5.6 at 400 mm, which I think is pretty enticing, not to mention that this can be 600 mm in APS-C crop.

Nice to see some great photography with this camera. Not just video shooters use the S5II

Awesome video. Have my S5ii + 70-200 f4 ordered and coming very soon. Was a bit worried for low light street photos, but this video definitely put those worries to rest! Could you maybe share a video on how you managed to salvage those 51k ISO images after all, as that’d be super helpful. Thanks!

I got the S5 no phase focus, the photos always amaze me. Thank you is great to see the power in low light.

I don't know if pixel peeping you will find that the noise is too much but in the video they look great.

Exactly what I needed to see. I've been bouncing between the 2.8 and 4 going on a week now. I havent seen a single review on either F stop where any lower light pics were done. They all just say "if your shooting weddings" and leave it at that.

Interesting vid, the ISO performance of the modern FF camera is p insane tbh. Looking forward to the comparison video between the S5II and the S7IV.

So do you prefer the Lumix environment over the Sony environment, I prefer night time photography and was wondering how the Lumix s5!!x will compare to a Sony camera

If I get A7RV as my first camera with 70-200mm F4 macro G ii and just use standard Yellow iPhone 15 to shoot closer things with its 13mm, 26mm and 52mm, is it good setup if I'm just hobbyist with good understanding of photography and compositions who want to enjoy shooting and use for personal products shots too? I choose Sony over other brands because they have the lens with unique feature I want like super tele with macro ability that I mentioned, power zoom lens and standard zoom that start from ultra wide 20mm and I love Sony as a brand too. I choose this over A7CII/R because of its good EVF and 4 ways tilt screen and smaller body don't give benefit with big lens other than weight saving and people still notice you have a camera, A7RV is like just as small but with a big EVF attached. Should I get another lens right away, I have the 16-35mm F4 PZ G in mind, or I should get something faster and prime that still light weight on gimbal? I don't really care for bokeh, that tele will able to do it too if I want to, I like my photos and videos to have story and creativity and not blur out the contexts.
Also, have you wonder why put so many effort just to take photos and videos and not just use phone camera to record here and there if it's not your primary work and also your content not all will get pass down and value later?
And what camera setup you bring in everyday life and travel, some people use less bulky and performance camera for their own life but use fancy gears for clients and travel, why, isn't everyday life is most parts of our life and important too?

My S5mII struggled badly in a dark abandoned theatre so much that I had to switch to my G9. I have constant preview on.I was using the 20-60. Can you share your settings? I shoot lots of abandoned places and carry lighting. I used the F4 70-200 out West-loved it! Loved this video-

The area he’s shooting in has lots of lighting, and you can tell when he was shooting the moving tram, his shutter speed was slow enough to where some shots were blurry. I think you’ll need a prime 1.4 or 1.8 lens to get more light where as he’s using a zoom lens. I’m no expert at all thats just what I assume from the video

3:14 - I was worried for you and was thinking what the old lady was saying!
I just stumbled across your video as the lens is actually on sale on Amazon for AU$1053 (~US$716; ~£537) at the moment and I wanted to see some reviews.
Thanks for the video - it's exactly what I wanted!

      @Opticalwander  Рік тому +5

😂😂 I disagree. You don’t need 2.8. What’s your ig would love to see your work. Maybe I could learn a thing or two 😉
Edit: no worries I found it on ig. Thanks for the engagement. You should probs post more often.
