@@DutchRC I did the range test and it gives me an option to reduce power with SW1. I walk a few meters and signal strength goes from 10 to 0 I got the antenna in the tube and im sure its straight and all but I dont know. Ill try some settings or something.
@@dusty7254 Do offcourse try a few things, but don't hesitate to contact Flysky.. As you saw in my video the range should be more then what your eyes can really see..
It's nice (like most Flysky Tx of this type). Has good range and more functions than most of us will ever find a use for. My worries start with compatibility. If it is _only_ compatible with the newer protocol then it is less useful/more expensive than it could (or should) be as old models will need to be fitted with new rx units. And, whilst 4 channels are fine for most users, the lack of even just another two may make it less useful for the wider community both in boats and cars who desire (and often use) more dedicated channels for aux systems. At the price though what it has got is more than value for money....... and expecting more is always more expensive
Howdy brother :) yes true.. it IS a shame they didn't include backwards compatibility.. I assume they mostly had a Commercial reason for this as it shouldn't be technically hard.. I've asked FlySky about this, and well.. at least they replied but I wasn't given a real answer (no surprice there ;)) Yes sure.. I find that I tend to just use a stick-transmitter for boats that need more channels.. The most channels I have used for Cars was 4 so far.. (transmission + winch)
@@DutchRC Jason from Flysky here, I hope I can provide a better answer. The new protocol requires hardware changes in order to work to it's full potential. The only way we would have been able to keep compatibility with the older protocol is to have 2 different RF modules, so we decided it was time to move on and throw ourselves behind our new protocol. We will be releasing a wide range of receivers over the next few months that support it so we can hopefully fill that gap quite fast, and as usual these receivers wont be expensive. As for channel count...... well..... lets say for now it's the receiver holding it back, we are considering upping it to 18.
@@strangecalibur Hallo Jason, thanks for the reply offcourse.. In my opinion FS should then make it very clear what the actual benefits of AFHDS3 are..
@@DutchRC I agree, I will make an effort to get some more comprehensive information out. Everything I am about to type here is not completely apparent in the current firmware on the NB4 but will be added in coming updates. AFHDS 3 is the most flexible protocol we have ever made (We have others other than AFHDS but are for very specific applications), it can dynamically change it's configuration to meet various different uses. One example of this that you will get to experience in the next update is sports mode, this will enable the NB4 to get information to the servo in under 3ms, this will turn off various other features but more will become clear later. The NB4 will also be able to change between 4 and 18 channels, which will change the response time I mentioned above, but not necessarily permanently during use, so if you have a channel for lights for example that doesn't need to sent that often, it wont send unless necessary, reserving that bandwidth and as a result reducing the latency when that channel is not in use. How this will be worked out sensibly on the NB4 is still in the works but it is coming. On top of this the protocol is better and fighting interference and filling in gaps if there are any, increasing reliability at the edge of range and it's much easier for us to update and make changes in future. It can also do some cool things with data prioritisation in the same way as it can with channels. Anyway I think this comment is getting long enough, I need to find a better way to explain the protocol I think.

Hahaha :D it IS a nice radio or what? ;)
Excellent overview and test. I love the 2 battery system. screen is nice and the swinging steering wheel is cool too. probably would store safer with it swung 1/2 way. I'm very impressed like yourself. i always get a kick out of folks wanting to know the range. well how much can you see after 150 anyway and how can you drive precisely that far anyway? It's always nice to have super long range but anything over 100m is gravy if you ask me. This is plenty good. Well put this one on the to get list. List is very long, more than I have funds for :-) cheers buddy
Howdy Mike :)
thank you very much offcourse! I agree.. it IS allways a question asked by people outside of the hobby, but for people IN the hobby to ask that.. It would really only come in to play if one were to FPV-drive a car.. Which offcourse is a VERY small niche.. It's sometimes done to see what that is like, and then quickly abandoned :)
What I did here (edge of visual range) and then see if the radio starts complaining should basically be enough to say the range is adequate :)
Ghehe yes sir! That list is far longer then my funds reach over here as well :)
Cheers & thanks for stopping by!
Signal strength strength I believe is your radio signal. And RSSI is the actual link quality to the Receiver
Yes that is both true
servo is for 4 extra channels. You connect the s-bus controller and voila :-)

So what’s going to happen in a few years when the battery dies and they are discontinued. I think I like the old way of double A’s or lipo packs.
the one in the radio itself is a replacable 18650 (I know cause I replaced mine :P)
But the "base plate" is indeed an issue.. Those can't even be ordered Now.. let alone in a while..
Yes this radio will make your rc run faster and steer better. Okay it has to be good because it’s in a nice box.
so if you think packaging is irrelevant.. most companies won't agree with you
When it comes to features snd overall is this worth getting over the Flysky FS it4S?
Pfew! that is a hard one.. I actually had my eye on that radio before the Noble was announced..
I think the build quality of the Noble is better.. And I think it looks better but that might not be important to you..

Does the steering assembly move easily? As in when your using it does it slide out of the position you set? Do you find you have to readjust it a lot?
Some people drive with a "death grip" and those might sometimes change the angle.. I have never had to preposition it while driving.

Where can I get replacement batteries for the transmitter? Do you know the part number?
howdy man :) do you mean the one in the Grip, or the base-plate? The in-grip is a standard 18650 cell.. I've replaced mine with a regular off-the-shelf one..

nice video dutch. I was wondering if you could help me out? I have the n-14 and I don't know how, but one of the blue trim buttons got broke on it. This is a big deal because I love that transmitter and I baby it so I don't know how or when this could have happened. I don't use the trim buttons barely ever, but I would like to replace it. I can not even waste anymore time on underground fpv as that is the worst company for customer service or communication I have encountered in the hobby. even more so than banggood. Do you know of how I can get the replacement button for my transmitter? (it's the left trim button and half of the little black joystick that the button slides down onto.)
Hi there Joseph..
damn! That indeed IS a shame.. and yes.. I've read Only negative things about the support at UFPV (Flysky's support I've only read Positive things about)..
I can imagine them buttons will be seperately available at some point but that doesn't help you now.. I'd say: contact Flysky itself about this.. they might be able to help you out..
I'm not going to (attempt) to pull the buttons of on my radio (sorry).. so I can't really see what options you would have.. Do you think you might be able to just drive a Screw into it so that the screw becomes your trim?
@@DutchRC the button just slides off. It shouldn't break. I took the one off the other side to see what it should look like and it just slides right off/on. No to the screw idea. Screw that idea. DutchRC Adventures sorry, I must have missed that part. But thank you very much for the reply!!! I really appreciate it!
@@NotSoJDM18 No worries :) Anyway.. if you're not going to be FPV driving cars, the range seems of no concern at all :)

Around 30ft I lose signal. I dont know if I should mess around with the settings or the signal settings in the menu. This is my first good TX/RX and Im kinda at a loss
The first thing you should definately do is a range-check (the radio has setting for that)..
Maybe your antenna-placement isn't ideal? Hard to say from here offcourse..
@@DutchRC I did the range test and it gives me an option to reduce power with SW1. I walk a few meters and signal strength goes from 10 to 0
I got the antenna in the tube and im sure its straight and all but I dont know. Ill try some settings or something.
@@dusty7254 Do offcourse try a few things, but don't hesitate to contact Flysky.. As you saw in my video the range should be more then what your eyes can really see..
@@DutchRC Should I try Output settings on transmitter? One option is "Output" PPM or PWM. Second setting is "Serial" i-Bus or S.Bus
@@dusty7254 I don't think so.. Eighter it works, or doesn't work at all.. for the supplied receiver you need to use PWM..
Howdy brother :)
yes true.. it IS a shame they didn't include backwards compatibility.. I assume they mostly had a Commercial reason for this as it shouldn't be technically hard.. I've asked FlySky about this, and well.. at least they replied but I wasn't given a real answer (no surprice there ;))
Yes sure..
@@strangecalibur Hallo Jason,
thanks for the reply offcourse..
@@strangecalibur That was indeed quite a long (and interesting) reply sir :)
Nice to read we have some improvement to look forward to with the radio! Other then that I do think you should at least have this info on your website as well...
