    Well, I took the plunge and bought one! Wanted the Sanwa MT44 but a receiver for this radio would cost me 70 euros! For the Noble only 23 euros. I am impressed with the Flysky radio! Really well build and I love the user interface. There is an option in the radio for the receiver: 1 way or 2 way. When I switch it to 1 way, the radio can't connect to the receiver. Tried to bind it, but no luck. What is the difference between the 1 way or 2 way option on the radio?
    Anyway....if you are hesitating to buy a Flysky...don't!!! This radio is awesome! Got it for 144 euro from Hobbyking with two receivers!

    • @DutchRC

      Yes same here :) Before the NB4 I had the NV14 Nirvana which was really the first time I had a flysky radio that felt like a quality product :)
      the one-way thing (for as far as I could dig up) was something intended to cut the latency down (no telemetry).. But I think it was abandoned because the gain was minimal at best..
      That allso means that there is no receiver firmware that can actually do that one-way thing.. so yeah.. won't bind in that mode..

    Well, Mr Dutch RC, on the strength of your review (and your honesty) I've ordered one of these to slowly phase out my Spektrum addiction. Since the rotary selector in my DX3R Pro has become random, I found out that none of their current range is back compatible with any of my 20 odd DSM receivers, they can go off with the dinosaurs.

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  5 років тому +1

      to be fair: the new AFHDS3 protocol Flysky uses isn't compatible with their older stuff eighter.. BUT.. this was done because there are technical benefits..
      Interesting how both Spektrum and Frsky have made the mistake of doing so for commercial reasons?

    • @Rex_Stuph
      @Rex_Stuph 5 років тому

      @@DutchRC I think Flysky have been working hard at improving themselves. The first and only Flysky radios that I have owned until this arrives were a pair I bought from Hobbyking in 2010 because my wife and I didn't want to travel from Australia to Norway and back with our 3PKs bouncing around in luggage. Hers had an extra 3mm screw floating around inside and mine splattered everyone else's radios when I turned it on. I had to comp with a borrowed 27mhz stick radio lol. Not sure about Spektrum. In planes the old DSM was horrible, but I still hear the same stories though I haven't lost one (yet). But in surface models, I still have the old SR301Pro receivers from 2006ish that have never let me down, and mayby that is why? I'd like to give them the benifit of the doubt. But I will get the DX3 repaired, and eventually I am guessing the Flysky will take over as aged electronics fail.

    I think the servo output may be an I-bus or S-bus output to connect servos serially or link it with a flight controller, at least from my experience with previous generations of Flysky RX's. Nice radio, by the way. If it is compatible with the previous generations of Flysky protocols it's a winner. Is there any port for hooking up an external module? I've never understood why in car radios since my Kopropo Helios there has never been a multiprotocol module bay.

    • @DutchRC
      @DutchRC  6 років тому

      Sorry nut nope.. this really is only a PWM receiver.. I DO expect (several) other receivers shortly that run on this new protocol.. Mostly because FlySky allso has a high(er) end stick transmitter in the works that runs on AFHDS3..
      Regretably nope.. no backwards compatibility with older protocols.. I have asked FlySky about this, but I didn't really get an answer..
      Hmmmm external module you say.. I haven't really felt a need for that for cars.. But at least backwards compatibility would have been nice..

    It's nice (like most Flysky Tx of this type). Has good range and more functions than most of us will ever find a use for. My worries start with compatibility. If it is _only_ compatible with the newer protocol then it is less useful/more expensive than it could (or should) be as old models will need to be fitted with new rx units. And, whilst 4 channels are fine for most users, the lack of even just another two may make it less useful for the wider community both in boats and cars who desire (and often use) more dedicated channels for aux systems.
    At the price though what it has got is more than value for money....... and expecting more is always more expensive

      yes true.. it IS a shame they didn't include backwards compatibility.. I assume they mostly had a Commercial reason for this as it shouldn't be technically hard.. I've asked FlySky about this, and well.. at least they replied but I wasn't given a real answer (no surprice there ;))
      Yes sure.. I find that I tend to just use a stick-transmitter for boats that need more channels.. The most channels I have used for Cars was 4 so far.. (transmission + winch)

      @strangecalibur 6 років тому +1

      @@DutchRC Jason from Flysky here, I hope I can provide a better answer. The new protocol requires hardware changes in order to work to it's full potential. The only way we would have been able to keep compatibility with the older protocol is to have 2 different RF modules, so we decided it was time to move on and throw ourselves behind our new protocol. We will be releasing a wide range of receivers over the next few months that support it so we can hopefully fill that gap quite fast, and as usual these receivers wont be expensive. As for channel count...... well..... lets say for now it's the receiver holding it back, we are considering upping it to 18.

    • @strangecalibur
      @strangecalibur 6 років тому

      @@DutchRC I agree, I will make an effort to get some more comprehensive information out. Everything I am about to type here is not completely apparent in the current firmware on the NB4 but will be added in coming updates. AFHDS 3 is the most flexible protocol we have ever made (We have others other than AFHDS but are for very specific applications), it can dynamically change it's configuration to meet various different uses. One example of this that you will get to experience in the next update is sports mode, this will enable the NB4 to get information to the servo in under 3ms, this will turn off various other features but more will become clear later. The NB4 will also be able to change between 4 and 18 channels, which will change the response time I mentioned above, but not necessarily permanently during use, so if you have a channel for lights for example that doesn't need to sent that often, it wont send unless necessary, reserving that bandwidth and as a result reducing the latency when that channel is not in use. How this will be worked out sensibly on the NB4 is still in the works but it is coming. On top of this the protocol is better and fighting interference and filling in gaps if there are any, increasing reliability at the edge of range and it's much easier for us to update and make changes in future. It can also do some cool things with data prioritisation in the same way as it can with channels. Anyway I think this comment is getting long enough, I need to find a better way to explain the protocol I think.
