Because a 3, 4, 8 or 9 on turn gives him straight draw. 6 or 7 gives him 2 pair. Any other card and he can possibly rep a king. Not saying it’s right, but that is what he is thinking.

I flopped top set and got it all in and the guy that called had bottom pair(8). Turn..... 8..... River..... 8. I lost like half my stack. I've been running bad since for about 5-6 sessions.

Ain't no record. I once went runner runner, runner runner playing Omaha dealing twice on turn and river. Club club club club for villian who was a great producer won both sides. He and I aughed and laughed while I cried inside.

Cute. I had much worse. Even recently. Drunk guy misreads his hand on the flop, says "he can't get away from that", thinks he has an open ender but he has a gut shot, I have a set, all in on flop, turns the straight.
That’s just wrong. The math would tell you that someone hitting their straight on the turn is many times more likely, even if they misread their hand, than someone going runner runner with three to a straight on the flop.

Tesla had no business floating the flop, but Doug still could have gotten him to fold the turn had he just shoved.

He put in $47K with the best hand and $42K with the worst. So not really a bad beat as much as a suckout. It happens at every table about once a session. I don't understand why so many people are riding Doug's wiener. Even if Doug jams the turn, it's not the sort of bad beat one almost never sees.

It is never a good idea to let them get there. He bets big at the end and paid him. I think Doug should have made him pay big, for the last two cards. although it was a super bad beat.
So long as you are denying your opponent good pot odds to chase, you are playing correctly. And the odds of runner backdoor straight are incredibly small....
Knowing what the other have is always easy to know what to do haha
