Thank you! I’m so computer challenged this helped a lot. I do have a question, at the end of the video you showed us all the files. You said click on it How do I know which one to click on? I need to use PES so I’m assuming that’s the one I would click on. But somehow when I downloaded mine I have a zillion icons there that say PES. At that point I’m lost. Thanks and new subscriber here!
I find it easier to make folders by theme, such as Christmas, Flowers, Birds, Halloween, Fall & Thanksgiving, Toys, Easter, etc, etc. Then within those files I made folders for each separate design, renamed my designs to something that makes sense to me, then put the designers' initials after the design name, i. e "spider placemat-KK". I would think that having to look in each designers' file separately to look for all of your Christmas designs would be tedious.
Thank you so much for showing how you organize your designs. I have been trying to clean up my files and your technique has helped me a lot. Can you please tell me how I can get a picture of my design instead of just a thumbnail? I have gone through and changed my setting and now get a picture of my svg files but not of any of my embroidery files. I use PES designs. Thank you in advance for any help that you can offer me. I really appreciate it.
yes, software will enable you to see the icons in windows explorer. I think you can purchase a separate small program to just show the files. I would recommend Embird Basic with Iconizer - it works best and you can manage all of your files and keep things neat and tidy
OML Embroidery Thanks again, Sue. I finally bought Embrilliance iconizer. Now tackling the huge job of organizing the bazillion files I’ve acquired. Lol.
marsha tucker Hi Marsha. I’m not Sue, but easiest way to begin making ITH Designs is to purchase a file. Many files available online; d/l to your putter; transfer to USB and load to your machine. Lots to choose from. Explore Sue’s site - she demo’s tons of files! Have fun.
Newbie here too, I downloaded one thru Embrillance, I now have Hatch software after it was recommended, the icon reader was quite cheap though through Embrillance. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much for your tutorial i have been watching video after video and could not figure out how to extract fies and organise them but you have just managed to walk me through it brilliantly. My only question is do you put all the downloaded files onto the usb for my machine or just the pes. Sorry but i am completely new at this and just so baffled by it all. Many thanks again for your tutorial
Quick question. Once I extract the files I dont know what to choose when it ask which app to open file in. I have tried a few but none of them will open the files.
I wouldn't keep it on my hard drive I would put them on sandisk or usb because if your computer ever crashes you have lost them!!!! Just alittle bit of advice
I keep them both on my desktop in my "Embroidery Design" folder, and in the cloud on One Drive and/or Google Drive - I have a system where, after I purchase a design, I download it into a file on my desktop called "EMB DOWNLOADS". From there, before I do anything else, I upload the design to my similarly organized folders on One Drive. Once uploaded to One Drive, I move the design folder into my Embroidery Design folder on my computer, into the proper category, such as "Coasters and Placemats" or "Fonts".
I just make a folder on my desk top and then open the zip file with the designs in it. I select them all and drag them to my folder. You don’t have to go through all of that extraction process.
Extracting them is just as easy as selecting them all. Also the more you have on your desktop, the slower your computer will be when you boot up. The computer has to render all those folders and icons, so it is better to move the folder to the C drive once you get it all set up.
That is how I feel. I have been struggling to learn new things, and everything involves so much technology now, that I cannot even get my vacuum to work! I really struggle with organizing files! I am trying to just calm down today, and start over, one thing at a time. lol
thank you i started to get so many designs it was becoming confusing
yes - if you keep your files organized, then you will be able to find everything easily!
Thank you for sharing! This is the MOST understandable and detailed tutorial!
Thank you so much for the best understanding video on doing this, I am learning all this and you have been my life saver.😊❤

You have to use embroidery software to be able to open the files.
I wouldn't keep it on my hard drive I would put them on sandisk or usb because if your computer ever crashes you have lost them!!!! Just alittle bit of advice
yes, all good ideas. Personally I back my computer off site, so my designs are all safe.
I keep them both on my desktop in my "Embroidery Design" folder, and in the cloud on One Drive and/or Google Drive - I have a system where, after I purchase a design, I download it into a file on my desktop called "EMB DOWNLOADS". What kind or brand of computer do you have that it is so fast?
I am using a high tech Alienware gaming computer.
I just make a folder on my desk top and then open the zip file with the designs in it. I select them all and drag them to my folder. You don’t have to go through all of that extraction process.
