Cool pick ups! I got two of the things I really wanted at Vinyl Addiction in NJ, George Harrison's Electronic Sounds and Wonderwall Music. When they did not have anything else on my list, I grabbed Neil Young's Fu##ing Up for my wife. Managed to find Cheech & Chong Up in Smoke on eBay the next day. Vinyl Addiction isn't getting Ringo Starr's Crooked Heart EP until later this week, so I'll have to swing by again. My daughter came with me this time and we had fun chatting with other people in line.
Congratulations on the tinted windows score. I got that Gandalf on CD the first time it was reissued (1999 I think?) That's a nice record and OGs are quite the Grail. Wouldn't it be nice to get a Brian Wilson autograph? Well you got one woo hoo! I didn't go yesterday so I'm gonna see what leftovers are out there today. Cheers!
Hey 8VL. Cheap Trick fan…instant subscribe for me. Gland you got your #1 choice. For us here in WNY the Tragically Hip release was a big deal. I was 13th in line at 7am, with 10 copies available. Store opened at 8am. 3 left when I got in.😎. That was the 1st time I went out for RSD, had a blast.
Although I’m all for keeping sealed records and hype stickers on shrink for a gatefold that you want the hype sticker on, what I do is take the shrink off and pull it off from under the hype sticker and place the hype sticker on an outer sleeve without touching the adhesive, then put that record into the outer sleeve and put that into a larger outer sleeve so that when the sleeve gets scuffed it’s not the one with the hype sticker and you can replace the outer sleeve without throwing away the sticker
I take hype stickers off the shrink, get rid of the shrink , take the album/LP and inner sleeve etc out of the jacket pocket and stick the hype onto the inside of the jacket pocket so it's easy to read, you'll never lose the hype sticker and its now not covering over any artwork .. That's what I do , as well as the LP being stored in an antistatic inner and jacket/cover into a poly sleeve
I don’t mind the line ups cause you get to meet and talk to people. But I wouldn’t get there at 3 am or anything like that. Only cause usually anything I want you don’t have to line up for or can find online later on.
Cool haul 8VL...gonna buy the Tinted Windows this week as this one Newbury Comics had like 5 copies, have that Brian Wilson on CD, the Replacements I did not buy cuz it's on CD in the killer Tim boxset...my purchases on RSD 24 were the Elton John, David Bowie, Ramones '75 Sire demos, Dead or Alive, Golden Earring Cut sessions, and 2 I did not expect to buy but did...Parliament & Sparks with Noel...my Brian Wilson story...he played the Cayamo Cruise in 2020, he pre-signed his book & Anthology CD & vinyl...bought the book & CD as I did not expect to actually meet him, but I actually did, in the merch store, he was in a wheelchair, wheeled by his now-deceased wife Melinda...shook his hand, firm handshake...

So I finish with SM, go out the exit & back thru the entrance, still there, so I approach em & courteously ask to say hello...well as he is deaf in 1 ear, the lady, whom I assume was Melinda, YELLS in a strong accent "BROYAN!! SOMEONE WANTS TO SAY HELLOW!!!" I was practically knocked backwards!! Well he said sure, so she said sure go ahead...I thanked him for the genius music and answering my question during the Q&A...about what happened with the shelved 1992 album Sweet Insanity...he said he decided to not put it out, but I think it was shelved cuz of Dr Landy's involvement...
4:15am !!! You youngsters, couldn't do that at my age - not unless it was a rare Krautrock record like Achim Reichel's Echo in which case I'd have been there a week before 🤣. Glad you got your no 1 pick - never heard of 'em, but given the members not sure it'd be to my taste. The Gandalf release I'm totally envious of, not one that was in the UK list - I think the US RSD releases tend to be better selection than those in the UK. All the very best... Pete
If you're curious, I do not keep the shrink on but I do keep all the HYPE stickers and I can still see them and read them with the way that I package up my albums before putting them in my collection. Video on my channel. Vinyl Storage Solutions, Plus Ultrasonic Cleaning Tinted Windows is such a great album, it was a TIE for my #1 pick this year, my RSD video should be up Monday night. Great vid!
No problem. Subscribed. All notIfications enabled. Was getting tapes from 78 and records starting in 84 but moved to indie-only in mid 90s, eventually to nothing with the rise of Napster. Started up again with physical during the pandemic. Wish me luck, I am hoping to rise above some physical limitations and one day be able to stand in a line for a record store day.

I’m glad you had a great RSD and especially getting the Tinted Windows. Cool split red and black vinyl. Enjoy all of your pickups! In response to your shrink/hype sticker question… I always save the hype sticker. Usually I cut them out and either tuck them in the jacket or in the outer sleeve. Sometimes I’ll save all of the shrink with the sticker and fold it and tuck inside the gatefold. I’m not a fan of the shrink wrap so I prefer cutting out the hype sticker and tossing the shrink.

I was interested in the Zappa album and the live Dandy Warhols, maybe the yardbirds and one of the Ennio Morricone soundtracks. Well, I decided to skip the Zappa and the Dandy's and instead bought The Rain Parade, the Morricone soundtrack and the Lenny Kaye and Friends Live LP. Oh, I wanted to ask you.... when you showed your vinyl, you have them in a poly lined sleeve. Does that mean that the record came in a paper sleeve, and you swapped that out for the poly?
If you check out Tinted Windows, let me know!!! The Zappa was a maybe for me, but I ended up passing. And yes, I usually always swap out the inner sleeves that records come in with my own. Just one of my OCD collecting things. Lol.
Hi Emma ! - Buying Alex Chilton solo material blind is certainly a bold movd & am glad you like the odd sounding project. I was fortunate that the titles I wanted Siouxsie & The Banshees & Lost In Translation soundtrack were available in quantity so I arrived at my shop at 8 for a 9AM opening. Ended up picking up a Bowie because I figured it would be gone & it wasn't. Of course the midnight movie at my local cinema was Dazed 🥴 & Confused 😕 .. I'm sure the theater smelled delightful 🙂. Hi there, enjoyed watching your latest picks. I have an original copy of the Gandalf album, sadly being a teenager at the time I did not look after my vinyl and so the album has seen better days. It was not listed on the U.K. RSD list. I was second in the queue when I arrived at 5pm and was able to get the twelve items on my list….🎉🎉👍

Aloha Emma, Wow! 4:15 am .... Amazing you still got your #1 pick, since you were about 20th in line. Last year I was their at 4:15am also, with the Taylor Swift crowd, I was 7th in line & spent over $3,000.00 . This year I didn't participate because of my eye site ,still recovering from (2) torn retina surgeries which first one was in October of 2023. Plus haven't been working since then so budget is tight to spend on toys (record albums)...lol If I did go I would have purchased Grateful Dead box set & Jerry Garcia's also. Didn't go out for RSD because the closest store to me is more than 50 miles away so I fell back on my trusty backup...The In Groove in Phoenix, Arizona! Got everything I wanted and a couple more. Picked up the Yusef Lateef, The Doors Live, Bill Evans and also the Kittie and Thin Lizzy albums! Might have to wait a few days to listen to them but at least I didn't miss out totally! Love your picks and glad you got what you were looking for. Also...love your videos. Keep it up! Peace!

Tinted Windows is the only title I wanted and I did not arrive to Piranha in Round Rock (Austin area) until after 130 PM. They still had 5 copies. In fact they seemed to have lots of copies of everything. And I got the Melvins and a few jazz non RSD records (Ghost Funk Orchestra is GREAT). They did not have the new Hawkwind--no one seems to. Maybe vinyl delayed...not sure. I did not even know about tinted windows until Sat morning when reading a discogs thread what have you picked up so far. I thought well I want Melvins and Hawkwind but with only 1800 tinted windows the store may have got 4 copies and they'll all be gone. And prolly wont have Hawkwind or Melvins either, But not the case. 2 outta 3 aint bad. I dont think people know about them.....

RSD has long since veered far away from the original idea IMHO. It now seems to be the place for rich folk exclusively. I am in my sixties, a record collecor for almost 50 years originally from the UK where I grew up building a collection of 6,000 items, Record players have now come back into fashion for The Darlings so it is purely a fashion thing. Each to his own I guess but I just love music, I buy it with my honestly earned cash and play it on my WZBC show. So many channels now for Darlings with their $500 a week habits, amazing.

Hi there, enjoyed watching your latest picks. I have an original copy of the Gandalf album, sadly being a teenager at the time I did not look after my vinyl and so the album has seen better days. It was not listed on the U.K. RSD list. I was second in the queue when I arrived at 5pm and was able to get the twelve items on my list….🎉🎉👍

Our store opened at 8am and had a constant line/flow of people until about mid-afternoon from what I’ve been hearing. Insane.

Amazing you still got your #1 pick, since you were about 20th in line. Last year I was their at 4:15am also, with the Taylor Swift crowd, I was 7th in line & spent over $3,000.00 .
This year I didn't participate because of my eye site ,still recovering from (2) torn retina surgeries which first one was in October of 2023. Plus haven't been working since then so budget is tight to spend on toys (record albums)...lol If I did go I would have purchased Grateful Dead box set & Jerry Garcia's also.

Good to see what you picked up! I got out in my line much much earlier than you did and I was able to get everything. I’ll talk about when I got in line and all those details when I get sound to filming my video here this week. Didn't go out for RSD because the closest store to me is more than 50 miles away so I fell back on my trusty backup...The In Groove in Phoenix, Arizona! Got everything I wanted and a couple more. Picked up the Yusef Lateef, The Doors Live, Bill Evans and also the Kittie and Thin Lizzy albums! Might have to wait a few days to listen to them but at least I didn't miss out totally! Love your picks and glad you got what you were looking for. Also...love your videos. Keep it up! Peace!

Tinted Windows is the only title I wanted and I did not arrive to Piranha in Round Rock (Austin area) until after 130 PM. They still had 5 copies. In fact they seemed to have lots of copies of everything. And I got the Melvins and a few jazz non RSD records (Ghost Funk Orchestra is GREAT). They did not have the new Hawkwind--no one seems to. Maybe vinyl delayed...not sure. I did not even know about tinted windows until Sat morning when reading a discogs thread what have you picked up so far. I thought well I want Melvins and Hawkwind but with only 1800 tinted windows the store may have got 4 copies and they'll all be gone. And prolly wont have Hawkwind or Melvins either, But not the case. 2 outta 3 aint bad. I dont think people know about them.....

RSD has long since veered far away from the original idea IMHO. It now seems to be the place for rich folk exclusively. I am in my sixties, a record collecor for almost 50 years originally from the UK where I grew up building a collection of 6,000 items, Record players have now come back into fashion for The Darlings so it is purely a fashion thing. Each to his own I guess but I just love music, I buy it with my honestly earned cash and play it on my WZBC show. So many channels now for Darlings with their $500 a week habits, amazing.
I definitely agree with aspects of this. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
