  • A daring rescue, four months in the making, has a happy ending thanks to help from District employees 💚🐾
In late January, Visitor Services received a call regarding a coyote trapped in a fence at Springbrook Prairie. They quickly connected with Ranger Operations, who were able to extract the coyote and take it to Willowbrook Wildlife Center. As they were leaving, the mournful howls of another coyote could be heard nearby.
At first sight, the coyote was very docile and had an extensive injury to its hind leg. After months of care, the coyote was finally able to be released back into the wild. On a sunny day, the coyote eagerly bounded into the forest, hopefully off to reconnect with its long lost mate.
