This is by far the most honest and best attempt of building a 3d printer from (mostly) scrap parts.

It would be very interesting to have the .ino file instead of the .hex file in order to calibrate the stepper motors so the 3d printer would work correctly. In addition we would need the characteristics of dvd motors (steps/rev, rating) to programme the arduino sketch. Thanks for sharing your printer.

    Step 1: Buy a 3D printer
    Step 2: Print a 3D printer
Step 3: Return the 3d printer
Edit: This comment is not original, I "stole" it.

May I ask how accurate the cube came out please?
I have been thinking of doing something similar but with a dremel type flexible end on it.
The idea being to make small pcb's and engrave plastics and perhaps soft metals.

I don't like the fact that you're hiding the imperfections of your creation. This video is supposed to inspire people to create a replica of what you just did at home. This will cost people money and time. When you try to hide the parts that have failed in your print, that just makes me wonder what else did you hide from us. And with that said, you've not gained my trust in trusting you that what you just built was built purely from what we've seen in the video and I just can't trust that your video is actually something worth replicating.
    Thank you, but I'm out.

I agree you can still see at the end with the finished print he doesn't show all the sides of the print. Just the good faces. However, the bad sides can still be seen slightly.
