if you been using a 3d printer for a while now and done mods to it, and modify the firmware then you already should have a strong grasp of what is going on..
I can’t tell if that is a part cooling fan at the beginning part of the video, but I think to get better print quality you need a fan that points towards the print or a fan that goes through a duct to cool the prints
Great video! I need to know what is the minimum height from the Z axis to the heating bed while building this machine. I don't understand how to position the top 2 axes (both of them need to be in the middle + the Z axis need to point towards the base axis which is also need to be in the middle?) Hi. I don't know if this is what you were looking for, but in the description of the video it features a "Frame Dimensions" link that shows the measurements.
Hello, the materials listed for purchase to build printer, what are the prices in USA dollar? Is there a way to convert the prices on the web site or app?
Hello, This is a very nice project but I have few problems. I would be really happy for you to fix them. So basically when I programmed my Arduino and tested it I only had X and Y motor controllers in ramps 1.4 and didn't had the Z motor controller and extruder. Basically then I added them and Z coordinate Motor (DVD Rom drive) Started overheating and every motor controller started overheating too. Please tell me what to do and thanks if you answer👍😁
Hello, great tutorial. I have few questions. 1) Does power supply need an adapter or does it powered by arduino? 2) Can you supply dimensions for the wood/acrylic parts which aren't in the frame sheet? 3) Are springs necessary for the bed? Thanks
1) No, PSUs usually cannot power the arduino directly, since most of them supply 12 V or 24 V. This particular one has three sockets for the mains and two for +12 V and GND. To power an arduino directly you need a buck converter set to 5 V. BUT: Since he is using a RAMPS (an arduino mega shield with stepper driver sockets and 12 V connector) you can power the arduino through the RAMPS board with 12 V and this will convert it to the needed voltage. 2) I guess it's just try what fits your needs. 3) Yes and no. If you have a fixed bed you will be unable to adjust the height of the nozzle to your bed. You could handle that in the firmware (Mesh Bed Leveling: setting a z offset for each point on your bed) but for a simple "fun" printers like this one springs are recommended to manually level your bed. Also, if you mess something up and the nozzle goes into negative space you wont break your hotend by pushing it into the bed since the springs are going to compress.
HI, I try to build a similar 3D printer. Driver the whole system with PC/ATX 12V power. I found the stepper from DVD will become too hot (I did clamp the max current of drv8825 driver) !! The working voltage is probably only 5V. If I drive the system by 5V, it will not move. Do you have similar issue ? How do yo fix the problem ? Thanks.

@@heinrich-peterhimmelbauer1418 As a person who quite literally built a printer of his own from scratch - oh hell no. If you REALLY want to learn how the machine like this works and then make your own, a cheap semi-garbage kit like an Anet A8 would work well enough, and you won't really feel sorry tossing out bits (or in my case - the entire machine sans lead screws and the heated bed - yes, including the motors and lead rods) and replacing them with better-quality parts. This, I'm sorry to report, prints even worse than an A8 and is unlikely to cost much less, while needing as much time. It's not that this isn't an interesting project, but this is definitely not a good way to get into 3D printing, similar to how it's generally not ideal to build any CNC machine besides a basic plotter with these motors. Oh, also - you *could* build it for less than 40 bucks, and get the hot end and the extruder from Aliexpress - but the odds are high what you'll get is exactly what you've paid for. I've bought 3(!) V6 hot ends on Ali. Only the Trianglelabs one worked like it should (as opposed to heatbreak snapping from routine loads, or threads failing when the nozzle is tightened - and no, it wasn't overdone, the bloody seal was leaking plastic so hard there was plastic oozing out from the threads before tightening), and that hot end hardly costs less than a genuine E3D one. Ditto extruder. Ditto several fans. Ditto linear bearings (why are the brand new bearings dropping balls out?). Ditto V-slot wheels... I can go on with cheap parts. And while you *could* get Uno+CNC shield, it's much better for future-proofing to get a proper control board. Hell, given the costs nowadays, might as well grab the 32-bit SKR, that one will utterly embarass anything built on Uno-Shield or even the Mega-RAMPS tower. For going cheap, feel free to google how 101 Hero went down.
