Polpo nella sabbia - Octopus in the sand - www.intotheblue.it

Questa estate abbiamo trovato questo polpo, Octopuv vulgaris, mentre esplorava tranquillo un fondale sabbioso probabilmente in cerca di cibo. Questo comportamento non è abbastanza comune nei polpi che solitamente vivono su fondali ricchi di scogli e anfratti dove nascondersi e trovare il cibo. Esiste anche un "Polpo di sabbia" ovvero il Moscardino (Eledone moschata), un cefalopode di colore chiaro molto simile all' Octopus vulgaris. Si tratta comunque di una specie completamente diversa che vive in profondità.
This summer we found this octopus, Octopuv vulgaris, quietly exploring a sandy bottom probably in search of food. This behavior is not common enough in octopuses which usually live on sea beds rich in rocks and ravines where they can hide and find food. There is also a "sand octopus" or the dormouse (Eledone moschata), a light-colored cephalopod very similar to Octopus vulgaris. However, it is a completely different species that lives in depth.
