Too many people claim to be salafis but their character and mannerism is nothing like the salafs
I agree with teachings of salafis but I would never ever call myself a salafi, we have been labelled as muslims in the quran the term salafi creates divide is used to differ from the misguided muslims!

Very good talk but I still dont understand of calling myself a Salafi, we were told we are Muslims and Allah says, this is the name given by Ibrahim (A.S). I believe Our prophet told us to follow the ways of the Salaf as an indication of a way to be as the Ahidith would be translated from them and also from theres ways and manners, which would the closest to our Prophet. Also I would like to add here, this is why it has been wrong to refute YQ. I might have thought that he could have said some things in a better way but I also understood he didnt mean what alot of ppl have accused him for. And these ppl say they follow the ways of the Salafi, it's far from Salaf. YQ has done much good.

I personally take the view that Islam should NOT be broken out of the mold of the traditional Shafii Ahmed Malik and Hanafi methodologies. If it is, this bizarre nonsense is what remains.
People that break away from tradition and say I only believe in Quran and hadith are delusional. You have to believe in the Quran and hadith according to a particular understanding (there's just no way around it). The physical destruction happening in Syria is, I think, a sign of the theological destruction that's happening to the religion.
