I have the fondest of memories about this mall. I shopped here in the 70's as a young teen, the "hip" clothing stores were the best. I still remember the blue velvet shirt I bought at Fredericks. Always had Karmelcorn, always went into Woolworth's, and I loved the store down by Nordstrom's called Pirates Plunder. World Market and Pier 1 could never be that cool. They also had this hippie plant store and a shop to buy beads and things to make jewelry. Very happy memories about this mall.
I remember driving past on Aurora when it was just trees on that corner of 205th. Did a lot of my Christmas shopping there. The smell of the Karmelcorn shop wafted through the air, even before it was covered. Lucky's grocery store and Pay n Save on the west side near the highway.
Mom worked at Fredericks up until the bitter end. They gave her the option of retiring or working downtown, she chose to retire, and a few months later the downtown one was closed anyway.
I loved this mall as a kid growing up in the 80s. Dags, Karmelcorn, and the Spaceport video arcade were my hangouts. A lot of times you'd practically have the place to yourself. Saw quite a few movies in that theater as well.

I dont remember going to this one, lived in Olympia at the time. But they all look about the same by the end. Malls were such a big part of our lives in the 80s.
And in 2024 Norgate mall is gone. Alderwood is still here, but I never knew about the mall in Aurora Village to be honest, I couldn’t see this mall surviving because it was so close to the Northgate mall and Alderwood is not too far away this mall had no chance to survive
This was a little bit before my time I never knew about a mall in an aurora village. I know there’s a shopping center there with a Costco and other stores, but I never knew there was a mall there. I grew up going to the Northgate mall I guess by the time I started going to the mall, this place was already gone

Hung out here in the 70's. Was sad to see it go. Nothing but a big crappy Costco, etc. now.😒
Amazing footage.

My Mom worked at Fredericks too running the switchboard for years!

Yes!!! The Spaceport was awesome. Playing Chase HQ at Dags was pretty great, too
OMG.. the moment I read "Karmelcorn" I was back in the mall circa late 70's with my Mom!. I can smell it now!
BAG OF DAGS!

All you can eat Wednesdays at Pizza Haven on 200th and 99! Good times, my girl worked there and we ate good for teenagers in 1979!

My parents shopped for everything here when I was growing up in the 60's. I was angry and sad when it was closed. AV is now a strip mall eyesore.
And the children of the bands.
Now Costco & the Home Depot are the main stores at Aurora Village with a Starbucks in the middle. Big 5 that is seen at 2:44 is still there though.
