Love your video I have a 1969 mach 1 H code Jade black. I like what you did with The air cleaner and making it a functional scoop. Im going to start working on my car throughout the Winter. Going to have to catch up on all your videos.
So there is two, one that goes from the turn signals under the car to the hood area, and then one that holds the bulbs attached to the hood. I believe these are the two looking back through my orders. www.npdlink.com/product/harness-hood-mounted-signals/101907 www.npdlink.com/product/wiring-harness-turn-indicator/101859
Hey smackey it's me again. Maybe a bit off topic but I couldn't help but notice your 'cold air intake' setup on that reproduction hood. Do you think/have you experienced whether it makes a performance or driving difference? I've read that most scoops don't do a lot except at ridiculous speeds and the Mach's hood scoop entry surface area is quite limited. I'm curious to hear about your (and other's) experiences. Some also say that running without a snorkel type air cleaner makes the engine take in a bit warmer air during milder driving/idle. Cheers mate keep up the great vids
I’ve been watching a few of your videos. I have a 69 S-code Mach1 too. Love your videos! Did you ever get the front end lower? When you installed the springs have you heard of or done the “Shelby drop” on the upper control arm? Im about to do this to my car along with the 1 inch lowering springs. I’ve heard it really improves the handling and lowers the car another 1/2 to 5/8ths of an inch
Thanks for the compliments! Very cool you have one too. What color combo is it? The lowering springs didn’t drop it anymore. I believe it’s because I took a lot of weight off the front with an entire aluminum top end. I have heard of the Shelby drop but haven’t tried it. I’m waiting to see where I end up with the height of the rear before I lower the front more. I have long tubes and they hang pretty low. Don’t want to be dragging them. You’ll have to let me know how your suspension turns out.
@@SmackeysGarage Mine is Acapulco blue with the yellow stripe flat black on the hood and black interior. It’s a factory close ratio 4-speed but I’ve bought a Tremec TKX 5-speed. It’s all about to go back together. I have the same deal with aluminum top end. It came with cast iron heads and an Elderbrock intake. I bought the TrickFlow heads while rebuilding the engine! I’m excited to say the least. Have you found Opentracker racing yet? They just specialize in (mostly) 60’s Ford suspension upgrades. Everything I’ve read on the Shelby drop is it’s a must do, Street or Track. I guess I’ll let you know this spring!
I love the Acapulco blue color!!! It looks amazing on these cars. What rear gears were you running with the 4 speed close ratio? I need to change mine to a higher set. I'm running, 3.25 now and looking at running 3.50 or higher. Your car sounds like it is going to be a great driver. My car original color wasn't black jade, it was just the preference I had when I painted it. It was originally Meadowlark Yellow I believe :) I have heard of Open Tracker. They have good products. I've been looking at their suspension options and may have to pull the trigger later this year. I'm going to see where I net out with projects first.
Also, what size wheel and tire combo are you running? I have 14” magnum 500’s with the the old Firestone Wide ovals. Looks period correct but I’d like a bigger rim and better tire. Up in the air about 15’s or 17’s in the same Magnum 500 or even going all out and getting an 18” Forgeline
@@SmackeysGarage The door tag has a 9 for axle code which is 3.25. Found the original build sheet under the carpet and it says R9. Which indicates locking 3.25
Thanks Andy! There is a Mach 1 stencil for the hood that puts the center in flat black. It also includes the cowl cover. I’ve been putting this off for a while until the entire car got sorted out which is why the hood and scoop were painted but not really buffed or finished.
Do you do a video on reverse lights? I have a 69 428 car. I’ve purchased a set of reverse lights but I’m not sure where the grommet goes into the trunk. It has a 4 speed toploader with hurst shifter. There is a switch under the car so I guess it works but there were no lights in the car when I purchased it just holes. Any help with how to hook up the switch and run the lights and where or how they hook into a harness would be great. Thank you.
I did not. I can look at where mine is run. I'll check it out tomorrow and let you know. I have the same shifter and switch setup. Do you have the switch installed on the hurst shifter? There should be a cable coming from the firewall area down to the backup light switch.
@@SmackeysGarage I have the switch on the car wired up. When I bought the shifter last year it came with a flat piece of steel with two different sized holes. I’m guessing one hold the switch and one a mounting hole? On a side note I was watching you video on side projects and saw where you need a seat back. I replaced my interior to include the rear back seat bottom but my top is original and perfect so I left it alone. I have the top part if you are still look8ng for one
I kinda don't understand the purpose other than being esthetically appealing(which they are cool). Are theyba monitoring system? Do they stop working if the bulb in the corner lamp goes out? My dad's 70 monte carlo has a OEM fiber optic light monitoring system that uses the actual light from the bulb to illuminate the indicator that are in the front corner and rear deck(which is visible thru the rear view mirror)
Just cool I guess. You're right it is in the dash so it is redundent there. I don't believe they go out if the front light goes out since they are wired in parallel.
I'm sure you could if you can get the scoop to fit. The way the 69 Mustang wiring worked was it was just wired in parallel with the front turn signals.
@@SmackeysGarageThanks. I need to get the scoop to fit a little better because the hood on the 2006 isn't contoured exactly the same. I love having the original scoop on the hood, though. I can almost imagine I'm driving my old '69.
Do you know if it would be possible to retrofit this into a 05-09 mustang? Currently thinking about acquiring a spare hood (as my current one is on my daily driver) and doing a similar setup to this with either a retrofitted Mach 1 hood scoop or perhaps a custom build. Perhaps it takes a bit of knowledge in electrical stuff which I have no clue about by any recommendations is appreciated
Anything is doable. If you buy the 69/70 scoop, you'll just have to see how it forms to the hood. Then cut holes for the lights to pass through. The biggest risk I see is having a hood scoop that doesn't line up with the hood perfectly. You could probably tap into the current blinker circuits with these bulbs in parallel.
Those are a nice touch. I have them in the hood of my 67 Mustang. Luckily I still have my original hood. Not sure I would be comfortable drilling holes in one.
Thank you! The wires weren't hard to source as repro and the install wasn't that bad. Just time consuming to get everything installed cleanly. NPD had everything.
We added them to our 70 and it is a really cool thing to have. It blows peoples minds when they sit in the passenger seat.
Yea. I've seen the same. It's also much more helpful having them hear to know when they are on over the exhaust note!
@@SmackeysGarage Exactly. There is no way to hear the signals clicking over our exhaust.
Great video I was just given one of those scoops from a friend I'm putting on my 65 thanks for the info on those lights
Thanks and Good luck! It should be as simple as tapping into your blinker circuit.

Thanks CS Ford. These cars make great projects. If you have any questions as you go through it feel free to comment here to message me in IG!
I will do,thank you.
Nice work! I want to add the turn indicator lights in my hood scoop on my 68 fairlane but I’ll probably wait till I buy my new hood.
I like them installed. It’s a unique experience too for people who haven’t been in classic cars. I’d definitely install them when you get a new hood.
@@SmackeysGarage agreed, absolutely!
Also this is hands down the most necessary mod for someone to make sequential led's retromod
Yea definitely! Looks great together.
Are you able to post the link for the harness you used?

Great video! Lights are bright. Can you tell me what #bulb you used. I have #1004 but the are loose in the socket and weak.
Thank you! I will confirm tonight since I ordered them so long ago. I believe it's an "1895" bulb looking at my past order history.
I just double checked. I have 1895 bulbs in the turn signals.
