      @neogeomaster3027 but they managed to achieve the 60fps rate and 480i resolution in a hardware much different and less powerful than Model 2.

      I was honestly a little disappointed at the time it came out since the arcade was so clean and crisp and had the 3D backgrounds, but I came to love the Saturn version for what it was, and it played just as great as the arcade. You could practice at home and put what you learned to use on the arcade machine. Agreed, it really was a great technical achievement on the Saturn to have VF2 running at 60fps with Saturn's high res mode.

    Seeing this back then was a dream, it was unbelievable for its time .Then sega made virtua fighter 3 in 1996 which was the biggest leap ever made in graphics physics and stage design .Leaps like those was based on sega's aggressive policy on graphics , it was not about money and fame , it was about tech dominance and gameplay innovation.

      Because Sega didn't make a home version of the Model 2.
      and did that horrible saturn project. It gives the impression that it didn't want to be in the domestic market.
      it was more intuitive to have a cheap version of the model 2 as a console.

    Between this game and Daytona USA in 1994 it was the most impressive thing i had ever seen. powerful graphics and at home the kids still had megadrive or super nintendo. It was not possible to reach these graphics until 1998 with dreamcast.

    • @RARufus
      @RARufus 8 місяців тому

      Yes, seeing Daytona USA for the first time was a gaming revelation. Sega was literally years ahead of everyone else when it came to their Model 1, Model 2 and Model 3 boards. I also love the look of Model 1 and 2 games. Since it didn't have vertex shading, you can see the edges of the polygons. Plus they used 4 sided polys instead of triangles that gave it a wonderful look.

    For some reason, I always find the Raft stage to be my favorite area. You not only hear some good old-fashioned Japanese music with traditional instruments you would hear in a pagoda, temple, shrine, or a room with tatami mats. The ring is on a moving raft and surrounded with a scrolling view of a Japanese village.
    I know it's 1994, but still, no game today can match the genuine looks of THIS.

    Here's another trick. If you're using Jacky, you can exploit Jeffry and Wolf's AI by simply spamming the punch button at them. It works on the Sega Saturn version and it should work on the arcade version, too.

      Thanks man. I cocked up a couple of fights but managed to beat Dural at least. Yeah I actually think the AI is the weakest part of this game. Fighting Kage or Jacky legitimately is a miserable experience and I find that you just have to wait for a fortunate couple of rounds. At the other end of the spectrum, some of the other AI characters are dumb as a post. The game's a masterpiece in all other regards though I think. Virtua Fighter 3's AI is the best of the original trilogy and it's the most fun to play solo - I'll be doing a capture of that soon, toddler permitting.
      Love your Shenmue 3 Supereyepatchwhatever response video by the way. Can't stand that histrionic, faux-intellectual UA-cam stuff.

    I just purchased a Virtua Fighter 2 arcade machine (full arcade machine) and I’d like to ultimately stream it through my OSSC. How did you capture this - I’m guessing with a supergun? I know the Jamma super guns apparently don’t work right out of the box - I am new to getting video from a Model 2 board. I’m comfortable with a solder iron, just not sure where to start! Suggestions? -Cory

    • @retromuel
      @retromuel  Місяць тому

      Lucky you! Sounds awesome. Mine came with a jamma adapter so it could be plugged straight into a super gun. You can buy these things on eBay fairly easily I believe. I used a Meanwell power supply that has +5v +12v and ground. It's a good quality PSU. I run the video via scart RGB from the super gun to a scaler which then runs into my TV/capture card.

    • @skycron
      @skycron Місяць тому

      @@retromuelI wasn’t sure what I should get or if I was going to need to solder anything as a newbie to this, as I had heard a lot of horror stories about the Model 2 arcade board needing all these leads and pin outs that could fry the OSSC and/or wouldn’t work, but I wasn’t 100% clear where.
      I am not sure if I will need a supergun or not because I want to split the signal (have the video going to both the arcade monitor as well as the OSSC via some kind of Y splitter) since I have the whole machine. (again, noob)
      I know the Model 2 has a bizarre video output that isn’t the same as Jamma so I’m just trying to find the best way to do this.

    • @retromuel

      It's because I'm playing as Jacky. Whenever Jacky and Sarah fight eachother, they fight on this special "Chicago" stage. Something to do with them being brother and sister presumably.
