The rando “massage” is actually the self-actuating bolsters that kick in when turning, etc. to keep you from working to stay in place while driving. Drove from New York to Milwaukee in one sitting and felt fresh as a daisy due to those seat bolsters. You don’t realize how nice they are until you don’t have them…

Have you had any mechanical issues with your s580. Been looking to get one myself but I hear these horror stories about mechanical problems.
@@20truck I’ve got an S550, so no troubles. The bolsters are the same… I’m waiting for the S580 to have a couple years under its belt before getting one…
@@thomasnimmer2616 I like the 550 better, the electronic screen in the 580 takes away the refined interior of the S class. The S550 is my favorite model perfect blend of technology and refinement

I've always liked certain Benz models for their conservative styling,
elegance and mind- blowing engineering. I agree, the exposure of the suspension airlines was odd.
S580, a big thumbs up.
Also, I believe that seatbelt was taking advantage of you.

Today I tried to help a very large snapping turtle cross the road. It was having none of it and started chasing me. Very slowly. I wished it luck and drove away.
What's crazy, is Gila Monsters are super reclusive, so actually seeing them is kinda rare, I've lived in Tucson for 45ish yrs and have seen 4 total, mostly attributed to me having a Jeep and off roading a lot, other than that, you won't see them. Rumor has it that if one bites you, it will lock on, then you have to take it with you to the vet to be removed, as it's a protected species. Happy Friday and cheers!!🍻
@@3ducs A snapping turtle was jaywalking across one of the busiest streets in town early one morning while I was on my way to work-just making his way to the gas station to get some cigarettes, I guess. If you get behind a snapping turtle, you can pick it up by the shell just in front of its back legs, and it can't bite you, try as it might. I put it in the back seat of my car (didn't bother with the seat belt, I'm sorry to say), then dropped it off at a nearby pond. I don't know if the turtle appreciated the fact that I might have saved its life that day-from a car and perhaps from lung cancer. (I assume it wasn't able to get cigarettes after that.)
Great review by Sarah. Your credibility as a reviewer continues to grow as manufacturers seek you out to and loan you expensive vehicles to get your take. Too bad the car is an overpriced, over engineered hunk of junk waiting to spend time in a shop for much for its of its life.
This is a perfect chauffeur vehicle. Not really intended to cater to the driver. More for the people being transported in the back. It’s got the full “airline” seat package back there! I thought that only came in the long wheelbase version…

I’m sure any rear-sitting passenger will get the luxury of a chauffeured-driven experience, but NOTHING will ever beat the pleasure of actually driving the S-Class.

Great car while on free maintenance lease. It will be a nightmare to own outright when warranty is done.
Spot on assessment of another anachronistic over-engineered beast that will depreciate like a falling rock and will rack up thousands in repair bills.

I think you have a typo in the prices on the intro slide... They show this with a $36,495 base and $37,490 as tested. Maybe add $100,000 to those figures? (smile).
I drove the earlier version of this car at the Mercedes-Benz AMG Driving Academy & it was amazingly nimble for an oversized sedan.
Very disappointed to see how cheaply it is made.

Can you at least request a M440i X-Drive so when you do get the Stinger; you have a prime German competitor comparable to the Stinger!

I own the 2022 MB S Class 580 AMG with E Active Body Control. I traded my 2018 LS 500 in on the Benz. The difference in ride is night vs. day, and the Benz is definitely a cruiser. The 2018 LS was the first year of the current generation with a firmer suspension system that Lexus later in subsequent years, starting in 2020, softened due to customer complaints. Any tightening of the suspension system will usually be at the expense of a softer ride. The MB S Class is the epitome of luxury with advanced technology for performance and safety. Does Sarah always focus on size and girth along with squirts? 😊
the "lines" on the bottom of the control arm are the wiring for the brake wear sensor, the wheel speed, and damper control. youd be amazed to know they arent really an issue benz has done that for a long time

You never know, the techs could be wearing suits/ties, the BMW stealership service dept at the Tucson Auto Mall has tile floors, so clean that you would think they were preparing for an IG Inspection or something. 😁

Hi Sarah! So nice to see you critique a “Grown-Up” car for a change . I personally think you have great taste in Cars . SUV’s are for Fat, one-legged American drivers. I just recently traded in my SDrive35iS for an MBZ E350 4Matic. I guess it’s because I wear Polo Shirts and listen to Yacht Rock. No more Douching It Up with the top down. I’m ready to trade it in for a CLS 450. Thank You Sarah !

I have a Smart Car that I bought from Park Place Mercedes here in Dallas. I don't change anything on my car. People who have the money to buy Mercedes autos bring them in and don't have to worry about hot plastic parts breaking. It's on the dealer if something breaks while the mech is working on the car. I don't think the owners of these cars even know about brittle plastic parts. I adjusted the valves on my bilkes, after I stopped scraping carbon off the tops of pistons and sanding the combustion chambers of all of my two stroke bikes. Not anymore.

Hi Sarah the S580 Merc is made for quiet interstate/Motorway driving. If you want noise go for a 65 AMG.

It's what you expect from a Mercedes Benz AMG it's predictable Germanic Engineering.
That "massage" you feel randomly is the bolster function that helps hug you while turning the car, you can turn that off.

Such a cool car for a big boat. I'm still a big fan of the "old", at this point, E55 amg. The S class always seemed just a little too big for my liking. Agree with you about the styling; seems funny that a 2022 Camry or Accord looks more aggressive than an S-class, but perhaps that's why they age so well.
