Travis,,,,this was a fun unboxing to watch. The "everyman's unboxing" for sure. It was refreshing to see someone open this Display without knowing how to do it...just like we will encounter when we open the box. You are a fun guy. Nicely done, my friend. Mike
Hey Mike, Appreciate the thoughtful comment. Haha the ‘everyman’s unboxing’ - I’m gonna have to steal that. It’s still funny to me we film ourselves and watch others unbox something, but perhaps it’s us putting ourselves in the other persons shoes (as you put). I’ll keep up the work - thanks again. Take care!
The height-adjustable one looks more premium than the tilt-only one because the stand for the til-only one turns diagonally to attach to the display compared to the height-adjustable one which it forms a right angle. Right angles always seem nicer to humans and very robust, we learn these things in design.
Hey Aditya, thanks for the input. Your right- and I never knew that, so good to know. I was trying to figure out why if just seems ‘nicer.’ Makes sense. Cool design tip and appreciate it.
I have to ask the obvious, why? Do many people need the monitor up higher? I like a desktop monitor to be lower. It is my observation this does not necessarily go lower than the basic tilt stand. There may be other advantages to it. It is nice. I’m looking at this monitor with the new Mac mini. I have an iMac 27 inch now.
Haha right. Makes sense the cardboard is uber strong since it had to ship a gazillion miles. Thing pays for itself after a few weeks. The speakers make it worth it. Pull the trigger and get the stand upgrade for an extra billion. You won’t regret it.
Which Dell? Unless you need it to ‘go vertical’ or don’t have the budget, Studio Display is way better. Better image, speakers are awesome, has a webcam. It’s the better monitor hands down. Dell is a fisher price toy compared to it (no offense Dell lol).
@@TravisVarga I code apps, edit photos & videos. I have MacBook Pro M2 Max. I tend to buy things for the long term. What I am trying to know is when I work on Dell U2723Qe for 8 hours a day, edit videos expecting Macbook colours and design stuff, will I regret buying it and eventually go for Apple Studio Display.. I want to invest in work but not so rich. Please suggest. I understand they are not the same product, but every viewer wants to know exactly how much compromise they need to make during coding, designing, image & video editing and meetings.
@@OkayDiphey apologies for my delay. I’d still say Studio Display - especially with your MacBook. The Retina screen looks a lot better than my Dell screen. It will match your MacBook screen better too. The speakers are also awesome on the studio display. Buy nice or buy twice right - hopefully you figured it out and if not, my extra two cents helps your decision.
Hey appreciate the compliment and you stopping by - will keep at it. I'd say the Studio Display is worth it, especially after the sticker shock wears off and a few weeks go by with it...you'll be like "how did I ever exist without my best friend?" I'd say gator done if you haven't already. Thanks again.
I can put my macbookpro 16 on the bottom and the studio display on the higher position? the mbpro cover a piece of the studio display? I want a stack vertical position.
I just tested it out, and my MacBook Pro 2019 16 inch fits perfect under it. It's like a match made in Heaven - Only the bezel area of the Studio Display is covered a little if you are at a weird angle or you have the Macbook super vertical and the screen not tilted at all. With the Macbook Pro how I usually use it (slightly tilted back) its great. I'd say for what you are going for and that vertical setup, it will work great. To be clear, yes the Studio Display does have to be at the highest setting so the MacBook 16 fits 'perfectly' under it. So you would need to get the 'Adjustable Stand' option to make this work. Otherwise you can always place a book or something under the Studio display bottom if you want it a little higher or get the version without the adjustable stand. Good luck if you go for it - the Studio Display is really awesome and super worth it (promise I'm not sponsored buy Apple lol).
@@TravisVarga oh!!! I really appreciate it!!!! great news! You video is more valuable that many other top youtubers that show a lot "pretty" things but don't go to the details like you. Maybe Apple thinks on this and makes the height enough for the macbookpro 16. Now that $400 more it seems works but to be honest, I'll wait for a new version of this display, maybe Apple release one with just one stand like the XDR. Also I was thinking on get the VESA to do this vertical setup with the 16. Decisions decisions, thank you!!!!
@@JohnSmith-zl8rzYeah for sure, you’re welcome. And your right, decisions decisions lol. It really has been a pleasure to use and I couldn’t see myself without one now. Yeah the XDR is a beast but that price tag is truly out of this world haha. And oh yeah the VESA mount is it a great option if you have an idea with how you’re going to mount it (I’d suggest to the wall, cause it it’s mounted to your desk, it could get a little shaky). The stand and the adjustable height stand I have are both very solid/ minimal wobble. Keep me in the loop with what you end up doing, good luck.
@@TravisVarga thanks, for now I'm doing a test, my old mbp 15 with a asus pro art 27 display, on vertical stack, I'm testing to see if I like that setup. For now I prefer it to side by side. One more thing... I discover that I hate the external trackpad! it feels different that use it on the mbpro, I mean same gestures etc. but I use it like a grampa, I move it too slow. On my mbp trackpad I move it sooooo fast, due the keyboard is on the top and trackpad on the bottom, so I'm going to try now the soap magic mouse.
@@JohnSmith-zl8rzhaha thanks for your reply and apologies for my delay here. Yeah hope your setup is still going well. Agreed on the Track pad. For me, having both that and the Magic Mouse is ideal. If anything, for Final Cut editing, a few gestures you can only do on the track pad. I couldn’t live with the track pad only either (first world problem). Haha but having it next to my Magic Mouse is the bee’s knees.
Hi there, I've been looking forever for the original file that Apple supplies in "/System/Library/Desktop Pictures". I keep finding converted PNG or JPEG images that are high resolution, but not the original HEIC file. If anyone with a Pro Display XDR wants to bless us with the OG file right out of the library folder that would be amazing!
@@kabbyapaaul I think they are part of the Mac OS, not the display itself - You can also try searching on Google Images that and should pop up. Good luck.
Kind of. There is one 'official' thunderbolt port, and 3 USB C ports on the back of the Studio Display. The USB C ports are do almost everything the thunderbolt can, just slower. Hard to tell in the real word usage tho - I plug a ton of stuff thats usb C cable into it and everything works great.
Travis, you make an unboxing very funny to watch. Do I also want a Studio Display with a height-adjustable stand? Oh yeah! Nothing compares to this beautiful monitor.
