Great video, thank you! BTW at 5:40 on the video... do you know how to seperate the white connector shown on the middle-bottom of the screen? (for single blue and white wires). Trying to avoid breaking the connector so I can add a new module. Thank you.
@@fixthemthings ahhh thank you. I was afriad to put the wire out of the connector. It worked great, thank you so much for the quick help! :) Have a great week!
Could be a few things. Most likely the pull chain, fwd/rev switch. Check for burnt wires or bad connections. Check in the ceiling box for the connection to the fan. Should be a blue and black wire.
awesome video....cud you please suggest what's wrong with my fan: worked one nite next day it stopped. pulling the light string the lights came on, pulling the fan string the lights were again turning. So something is shorted between the fan and light string switches because the trip didn't go off. The fan turned on once at low speed but stopped. turning on the fan again today i heard a humming sound. Again pulling the fan chain turns the lights on!!!
Question. No only does my fan not work but the light does not work as well. Could the light not working be related to the capacitor not working? Thanks
Sounds like the reverse switch itself is not working. I wouldn’t think it would go bad unless you switch it all the time. If you switch it a lot then yes it may be bad.
nice video.....so do all ceiling fan capacitors have 5 wires, with all the same universal colors?? Im a novice do it yours selfer, and have come across various old and new electrical components that sometimes have different colors, which can be confusing. Thanks! you got a "like" !
The pull chain is probably the problem now. They are really cheaply made. Please check the wires going to the switch and see if they are making contact. With power off of course. If you use the pull chain a lot then I would suspect that. I doubt it will be the motor.
how did you know it was a bad capacitor? i have power to pull chain when pull chain is on i have power to all wires on both side of capacitor but motor doesn't run
@@bquedenfeld ah. Your using a power stick. That won’t give you good reading. Anything close and it picks it up. You need a meter. I would just buy a cap for $7-10. It’s almost always the cap.

Those white connectors just pull apart. You can push on the small tab but it should just come apart. Hope that helps.

My ceiling fan doen't do anything anymore. The light still works. Does a fan have a fuse that could be broken? Greetings from the Netherlands

You made it look easy! Just waiting for Amazon to deliver my fan capacitor and hopefully tonight I’ll fix our bedroom fan. Great video!
Nice video; thanks. After a lifetime using wire nuts, I have become very fond of Wago connectors.
Great video! Very helpful.
great video i have the same fan i am ordering the part online right now! thank you for the excellent info!!
Great video. Just what I needed to find the capacitor in my condo fan. Thx again!
Question. No only does my fan not work but the light does not work as well. Could the light not working be related to the capacitor not working? Thanks
No. The capacitor is for the motor only. The light uses the pull cord switch unless you have a remote control.
I replaced my capacitor and still turning real slow. Can’t get the same ceiling fan no more (discontinued). Can you tell me what else could it be?
Only other thing is the pull switch unless you have a remote control.
Does gauge of the wires matter while choosing the capacitor? Like 20AWG to 18AWG?
My fan is working summer direction ( Anti-clockwise) but it has stopped working winter direction(clockwise). Any recommendation, what shall I do ?

There are many different types. Just match up the uf values. Wire colors really don’t matter. Hope the video helped.
@@fixthemthings ok....I have a brand called Fanimation, ....The Louvre is the model .....gonna crack her open and see whats there . Thanks
Replacing the Caps on the motherboard in my 15yr old flatscreen TV did the trick, TV wouldn't turn on, nice quick fix
Awesome video. Thanks so much .
How to Harbor breeze Clara ceiling fan
This video was right on time. I was just getting ready to replace the fan that I loved and thought let me check UA-cam for possible fix. Thanks!
Well done, well explained, thanks a lot.
replaced capacitor-still runs slow-can it be motor?

Turn fan on high. If it doesn’t start. Spin the fan by hand. If it stays running then bad cap.
@@fixthemthings first capacitor looks and feels ok
Did what you ask but nothing at all 3 speeds
@@bquedenfeld must be bad pull switch. Is reverse switch stuck half way maybe?
@@fixthemthings nothing happens when reverse switch is up or down
Pull switch goes on and off I test with power stick tester it good

Thanks mate, appreciate it
Dude's a stud. Thanks.
How do I know which one to order
Google your model of you fan. The one in the description should work if you don’t find it.
Thank You!
