This is the first movie that I saw in a theater. Toledo, Ohio, 1963, late August, early September. I was just beginning first grade that year. This brings me back to the time when the U.S. was on top and President Kennedy was just months short of his assassination. Wonderful movie, happy and sad time.

Maybe b/c my dearly departed grandparents introduced me to this film -- and because nearly everyone in it is now deceased -- I tend to choke up a bit myself whenever I get a chance to rewatch it. Saw it when it came out as a little kid in a beautiful, old 1920's theater. Wasn't in cinemascope though. I remember the line at the cinema went all the way down the block and people dressed up to go as it was a big deal. Now when I see it or hear the music it makes me sad somehow. Different times for sure. I still laugh watching it though. I think it's time to watch with the family again.

My Uncle Lance LeGault was an actor, & he also was a stuntman before that. He came for a visit, & I had him watch the stunts with the cars, Sylvester, Milton, all of them, & just watching, he said to me"I know the man that created those stunts"! He wanted to watch it all. I sent it home with him. It must have really brought back some great memories. I love it, & wish I had personally known the actors. 💗💗

I saw it as a young teen when it first came out - C-I-N-E-R-A-M-A theater in S-Y-O-S-S-E-T, Long Island, NY and at he Walt Whitman Mall Century Theater. Sat thru it TWICE there and was going for a third sitting when my Dad came in and yanked me out! Haha! Seen it once or twice in theaters since then, so I am due for another theatrical showing.

I saw this the first time in 1963, when I was 14 and our church (I think) sponsored a trip to see ITMMMMW, maybe for a fundraiser. I was old enough that my mom would allow me to go alone and take the local bus to downtown area to see movies. I remember seeing this again about 30 days later. Then I saw it several times during my school years and by 1968, I went to São Paulo, Brasil to be a missionary for my church. I saw that it was playing there, and most movies from the US were played in English, with closed captions for the Brasileiros. Then, in the era of VHS, I had a copy which I watched more than once with my kids. And just 2 weeks ago, I bought a copy of it for myself on DVD and watched it again and every time I see it again, I see something new.

And, the funniest part: the end when all the "greedy guys" went swinging in the air from their rescue by the fire department via the long long hook and ladder truck. I wonder if this film was trynig to portray what it will be like today ? look at the big corporations, look at the greed , its right in front of your eyes. "Whats the point of being the best if its brings out the worst in you"

I wish you could obtain permission to post Exodus. I thought it was public domain since there are so many versions of it on You Tube. By the way, how do you go about correcting mistakes on youtube?? There is an Amazon Classic Film Scores version of Exodus and the tracks are all misidentified. I find mistakes every day. Their algorithms need to be improved. Doesn’t anyone proofread their work in the Silicon Valley?

Unfortunately, I am more of a realist. Laughter is great, but accepting of what's real is even greater. The world is partially mad, but also partially great.

I didn't know LaLa Land put this out. I have an edition where some dialogue was included between each track. I get the idea but had to make a copy and playlist without the dialogue. I have a number of LaLa Land's releases and they always do a great job. I'll be getting it tomorrow if they still have it! Thanks for printing the source info.

Hello John, I have that old Rykodisc album, too. Its not a hit (the album tracks are included on the La-La Land one anyway) but the Interview segments are interesting.
The acclaimed sound mixer Ray Faiola (known for preparing the BYU or the SAE releases) said this La-La Land edition was his most complicated task! But you will read that in the booklet or on the website maybe.
      Enjoy it!

    Hey, Fred.
To be quite frank, I realized the mistake after it was too late. Frankly, I'm sorry. Anyway, I thought your labeling was giving the track listing for the soundtrack. But I guess you were just listing which themes correspond with the beats in the track, correct?

That was the point. Especially at the beginning (title music): to sound like a carousel. Not the musical play but an actual merry-go-round.
