Replacing my 2007 and the pressure lines are both 17. Also didn't need a 24 mm for removing the steering linkage. Was a 19 mm. But my new one came with those and control arms.
The car model here is probably a V6 not a 4-cylinder, as V6 is more complicated. Some key notes: 1) Center the steering wheel/the front wheels and tie down the steering wheel before doing the work. This is to prevent the airbag clock spring from the being damaged if the steering gets turned during the process. (At least, that's my understanding.) 2) Centering the new rack & pinion at 18:47. 3) When putting in the new rack & pinion (at 22:45), make sure the two lines (the high pressure line and the return line) are loosely covered with the plastic cover, then loosely attach the two lines. Then loosely tighten all the nuts and bolts onto the new rack & pinion. Then go back and tighten the two lines' bolts. And finally tighten all the bolts. 4) At 31:10 how to put back the outer tie rods. Looks like in the video he put in the outer tie rod's tiny boot at an angle rather plush onto the flat side of the knuckle. Wouldn't that be a problem?
its all good and all, but helps if you have a lift as is makes it easier also a place to do it in, can be done on your pavement but more difficult to get underneath and do all that
So I got a few questions if you don’t mind. Is this pretty much the same on a 2012 accord? Can this be done with a couple floor jacks and stands since I don’t have access to a shop car lift? And that rear sub frame, do you just lower it a few inches or does it come off all the way? And can that be lowered or removed by just having it lifted with floor jacks? Also when you removed the 17 bolt from the top of the engine bay with that long extender can that be removed from the wheel well like you mentioned about the size 14 bolt can be removed from the side?
Love the work you do brother. I have a question for you... So i have a 2003 honda pilot.. Only axel that matched up was a 2002 axel... The trans side was just a little bit shorter.. But the axel that was with vins did not match.
Does snyone knows the exact name of the pliers used to turn the rack before installing. Last tool I nedd before seslping mines. Id greatly appreciate the help!
+@balkee42 This procedure might be different for your application. We do not currently have a how-to video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Thanks. So far process worked great. Great video. I’m sure it was difficult to capture all the angles. Some of those areas was very hard to get to.
