- The Crystal Collector brings it to you again! A free public rockhound dig location, this time in Arizona. The location is called Black Hills Rockhound Area.
This dig location is the perfect place to find some eyeball agates and other types as well including botryoidal and awesome colorful agates. If you're looking for a fun day out, be sure to check out the Black Hills Rockhound Area in Safford, Arizona.
Those white bubbly stones--outstanding , It would be a vacation of a lifetime to take a rockhounding trip with you.
Halictidae is the second largest bee family having over 4500 species and are commonly called sweat bees and are attracted to sweat, mostly harmless but will sting if squished
I thought it was a bee!
I just commented the same before I saw your more indepth comment.
Yep, native bee species. Poor things, they are being squeezed-out slowly by the imported European honey bees. We love them for the honey they produce, but they are not native to North America. Many native bee species are important pollinators, so it helps them out to provide them with bee-boxes of their own.
Yup I have been there. If you are willing to wander around, you could leave with a bucket full of beautiful gems.
The bubbles are so delightful!!!
I would recommend wearing gloves. Alot of scorpions, snakes, and tarantula blended in. I was able to find decent amount of fire agate.
Thanks for posting this. We are going to the Tucson Gem Show again this year as buyers for my wire wrapping business. We will definitely put this on our list of things to do while out there!
😊
I get exited every time you upload just watching you find these amazing things!
That looks like ancient bubbles of happiness.
😊
I live like a mile or two from there I love looking in the hills for all the rare gemstones, I find such cool colorful stuff sometimes I can't even figure out what they are, I love em
Those are awesome! Someday, someday! Thank you for sharing this and all your other awesome videos 🙏♥️ Give little adorable Matrix my love 🙏♥️
January and February are a great time of the year to check out the Black Hills of eastern Arizona. I can see them from my house. I’ve deer hunted in the Black Hills, there’s fire agate everywhere there!
Super cool formations! 🤘🏾😜
Awesome 👍 I was in AZ spring of 2020 on BLM land... Saddle Mountain... same formations as this site! Thank You For Sharing ❣️
Way cool finds!!!!!! I really love the pure white ones, so pristine. This location is going on my bucket list for sure! Thanks for sharing
Cool. I would like to see you hunt down some fire agates.
Saw your Van and had to check out your channel keep up the quality content
I have the most beautiful fire agate that has been polished and it looks like it has a rose in it. They are absolutely stunning. I think it's my 2nd favorite next to opal
Bahaha!! I'm glad you made it to AZ. The cactus thorn is your initiation.
Maybe you already have but a video on cleaning rough fire agate to finished product would be great!
Yes, I was going to ask the same question.
they look like 'fire agate'
I suggest a video on fire agates, so we all are on the same page.
These rocks are totally cool! Thanks for taking us along.
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: This is going down as one of my favorite videos. Some of my earliest memories as a pebble pup were of my family rock hunting for these out on BLM land in Arizona. Beautiful rugged vista's and interesting wildlife. Mesmerizing specimens that glow in the UV light! Bryan....great video!
😊
Great area for Saffordite too!
The best time to find them is before sunrise or just as the sun sets. Some say after dark is the best, but I like searching for those dark black glass crystals on a cloudy day. But that is the exact spot to find them. I hope you didn't leave without searching and finding some.
The Nopales and Tunas are delicious to eat.
WOW, those are so beautiful, I've never seen these. They look like they melted.
The WHAAAT word of the day: Bubblicious!
LoveLoveLove those Agates! Great colours ... great shapes! Rock on Bryan 💥💥👁💥💥
Another great field trip!! Thanks for sharing!
Lived in Safford/Thatcher years ago.Pretty cool finds.
Good finds. It's Tree sap. Many gemstones and crystals were once "tree sap." The same plasma event that created the grand canyon created and spread crystalline sap across the entire southwest.
“Eyegate” 😂🤣I love it! 👀 🎶 “I always feel like somebody’s watching me...” 👀😆
Beautiful pieces.
This is why I love your channel, always showing us something different... Plus I love Matrix 🥰. Those Agates are amazing 👍
I love those cactus
I have a huge one My wife and I found it half dead tossed out on the side of the road here in Oregon.
So we saved it and have owned it for years now.
Great video
Thank you for sharing all your beautiful finds
Love Black hills, found some amazing pieces! Would love to know how you clean these. Totally enjoy all your videos!
I agree! How did he get them so clean?
Iron out works pretty good
Pretty awesome video! When i go to places like this i bring a pair of bbq tongs with the silicon tips. The earth really is the best glass blower.
Oh my heck. I love those! I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before. That white chalcedony is beautiful too. Like piña colada slurpee turned to stone.
2:37 Those are sweat bees. They are found in lots of places but are mostly seen in deserts where they find it best to source their electrolyte/saline rich water from the surface of your skin.
They hurt pretty bad when they sting. I've accidentally trapped them between my legs and arms when going about my normal business, so I'm very familiar with these little buggers.
Those all white ones look like soap bubbles - very cool.
It's just incredible beauty! Never seen such agates!
It’s those little fine needles that get you with those prickly pears, got a whole bunch on my arse when I slid down a grassy hillside with one hiding in there, spent a lot of the night with a pair of tweezers trying to get them out!
Those are so beautiful
👍 Watching your channel 👍 Hello from Virginia my friend 🇺🇸
Great content! Thank you for the video.
Your favorite one of the day is also my favorite,,,, so fancy
Great video!!
Beautiful pieces. The cacti are edible. That looks like a fun place.
Outstanding dog footage, Love this episode!!!
Great spot about 40 minutes away from my location. Just be ULTRA CAREFUL... rattlesnakes are beginning to come out of their holes and they LOVE hanging out under and around those prickly pear cactus, especially in the morning and evenings. My friends dog got nailed last year that way. Stay safe stay AWARE!
Where is rhis
Was going to say same. AZ.
Not as much red in pieces I find. Morenci not far away from this location
Awesome. Those eye agates I'd facet. People don't facet agates due to the challenge of getting the faces geometrically identical. However if you have an eyeglass and patience with your faceter then it can be done.
Awesome 👌 ❤😊❤ thanks 😊
amazing finds
VERY NICE !!!WHOO HOOO FROM CALIFORNIA !!! JOHNNY AND CANDY WHAT !!!!
Aaw dang. Wish I would known you was in town. Woulda loved to get out there with ya! Didja find any Saffordite while in the area?
Those little agates are wonderful but the hunting them in cactus is not fun. So many out there and you really don't need that many. So cute, thanks Bryan and matrix!
wow good finding eye agate brother
Thanks 🙏
Wow, that is incredible
Youre brave just lack lustery running your hand across the rock like that off that big vein rock. Id shit myself if a snake would come.
out It would ruin my day!
None the less I wish i had your job though, if people would pay me to make videos to go hunt my haunts across the country- id be sooooo happy. I dont know how you do it but youre blessed. Thank you for sharing your passions with us.
I LOVE rockhounding, just not by myself.
😊
Having a dog is helpful in keeping your surroundings safe.
👍🐕🌵🦎
So pretty!!
Excellent video, my friend!! My first thought: "I hope he's wearing boots because of snakes!"
I've never been out that way before, but if I ever do make it to that area, I will definitely check this place out! Thanks for showing us all new places to explore!!
Just adore your videos and love your saying what
Whaaaaaat 🙌💎
That place is amazing if i go to Arizona i will definitely go there those are really cool
Want to see you go to Oregon and look from some sunstone!
UA-cam and all of its glory somehow unsubscribe me to your channel. I’m back on. Amazing find good job.👍🏻
Those agates look so cool!
My favorites are the darkest in the center of a loot picture, and going NE from him, first cloudy white one.
5:50 awesome!
Its super funny you know why because at 1:40 you see that the dog: Matrix pissed the “please sign in” bord
Thanks!
Good Jobs
They look so bubbly
😊
good luck for finding agates❤
You probably would be very wary when looking at holes in the ground in the Arizona desert as there could be scorpions or black widow spiders or even snakes. Also some types of lizards can live in those small holes. I live in the Mohave Desert in Arizona and always am careful even in my yard.
those are crazy!
Istimewa🎉
Whaaaaat? It’s a rattlesnake. How cool!
Cedar Sap from the giant trees, just google the sap,. its nearly identical :)
😊
My favorite rocks. I love them all fire agates. How do you clean them? Thanks for sharing this ❤
Can I please ask how in the world do you get them so clean??? I can’t get mine sparkling white like yours ! Awesome finds! I can’t wait to get back up there .
Finding a rock on a planet formed of rock is just amazing 😂😂😂
I could only dream about the amount of traveling involved with this profession/hobby.
Great videos. How do you get them so clean.
Hi Bryan. This video was really interesting. When you showed that large boulder toward the end that had the big seam, are you not allowed to use your rock pick to knock a piece off? I also have a problem telling the difference between calcite and chalcedony. Experience I guess. The differently colors and shapes were beautiful. Again, I’m sorry I’ll have to miss out on buying some but thems the rules in our house right now. Thank you again for a great, informative video. A lot of bending so I’m sure you need some rest. On to the next adventure!
Thanks for telling us it's free bradah
Some of the rocks you have resemble something found in the Ozarks called goose fat.
Those look kinda like what we call sweat bees on your finger at the begining.
Eyegate. Great one. 😂 It should be called that.
@13:37 That's a Seahorse!!! 👍👍👍
And, is it just me or should the one on the lower left @6:53 be called 'Penis Envy'?! 🤔
Do they have bans in them when they are cut or polished? In Australia we have crazy agates and chalcedony. Cool finds😊
Those eye agates are like the Gobi Desert Agates in Mongolia northern China.
Hey Crystal collector
Bryan, are you cleaning them up with something other than water?
looks like you found a bunch of prickly pears!
Bryan, do you know the geology of that particular area in Arizona? It appears to be just rubble underfoot. Is it from the hillsides? Thank you. Very cool finds by the way!
Eye see!
How do you get yours so clean, I soak mine in vinegar and they never look as good as yours. FYI I live in the city of mesa near Phoenix and I know a secret area in town that I collect very similar formations from 🤘
Holy crap that wasn't a fly on your finger, that was a super tiny bee 🧐🤯
Wife and I will be by there on Thursday. Wife wants to know how the snakes and spiders are?
Just 1 word...Haircut!!!😁
Hey again Bryan. So when you talk about “decaying out,” you mean the matrix decays over time, therefore exposing the agate inside, not the agates themselves decaying? So eventually, the agates will fall out? Thanks!
