one of the things that sets her apart is her calm confidence and percussive interpretation of the music. also, her height, long arms and torso and her yoga background. these are qualities of someone who is a role model. i am a professional musician and she is "arranging music" with her body. there is concerted thought behind her choreography.

I'm a bellydancer too, and she doesn't look stiff at all to me. She flows like water, except for when she's hitting accents. I'm never bored watching her. I think it's just a stylistic preference.

I love the fact all her costume is really rustic and old looking and then she has this pannel of really modern glittery matiral at the front .... lol

My teacher told me this and I've lived by it and passed it on to this day,"There is a difference between being exotic and being erotic". Thesaurus gives us this: erotic means giving sexual pleasure or sexually arousing, while exotic means being or from or characteristic of another place or part of the world or strikingly strange or unusual. When in costume you NEVER act in a way that would disgrace your fellow dancers. I think that sums it up pretty well.

Rachel Brice is a true goddess, this video does nothing more than prove it. And that 'tattoo' (one of many)mentioned earlier - it's sandscrit (anchient egyptian) meant to protect her body. I've seen this woman perform in real life, she's nothing short of amazing.

The 'Tramp Stamp' is what all serious bellydancers fight against. I cannot tell you the sheer number of people whom I have told "I'm a bellydancer." have responded with "So, you're a stipper, right?"
Bellydance is a true artform. It is studied and practiced like ballet and jazz. You never ask a tap dancer if they strip.

That's why it's called tribal fusion... It mixes different styles... And also the basic movements are very close if not the same! True, it's not the usual bellydance, the one that everybody knows - this kinda goes deeper, it's earthier than other styles. But it still is bellydance...right? :)

oh i understand now, i havent been asked that yet because my boyfriend is from cyprus which is a greek island near egypt and lebanon, they value the beauty of this dance- but in england i was told not to put "bellydance" as a hobby on my cv if i apply for jobs etc.

North Americans have such a convluted idea of what bellydancing is becasue of "Hollywoodism". Californication anyone? It's a real thing. The shock of seing a stranger dancing in 'riske' fashion and pushing those ideals through movies gave the belly dancer a bad name.Ignorant people are the one's that believe everything they see in movies. The traditional forms are a proper art from. ATS is American-made. It's as American as country line dancing & Rachel is the best country dancer in the nation!
