Hello all,
Welcome back to a Victorian model railway exhibition video. Today we have our second video covering the Australian Model Railway Association’s 51st model railway exhibition. This year, the show was held at the Showgrounds' Town Square Pavilion. For the last several years, the exhibition was held at the Caulfield Racecourse main hall. At this new venue, the gathering of 57 stalls, formed of 20 operational layouts, 24 traders and 13 promoters or displays, included a diverse range of scales and modelling eras. A lot of the layouts have already been seen at other exhibitions or previous years’ videos, but there was no lack of new material. This part primarily captures layouts of Australian, British and Japanese design with a range of scales going from 1:48 to 1:150.
You may have noticed that we use the term "gauge" instead of “scale” throughout this duology of videos. This is because we’ve been revising our use of model terminology, and future videos will follow suit. From the next exhibition video, we are aiming to change how we write subheadings.
Between the two videos, we covered 15 of the 20 layouts displayed at the exhibition. The five layouts missed were the U-drive, Will James Railways' Gumridge Light Railway, Billabong Flat, Ffarquar and The Flyerville & Mystic Railroad due recording constraints.

This is the Australian Model Railway Association's 51st annual exhibition, one of the largest in the Victorian model railway industry. This year's event was held for the first time at Showgrounds. It also had various visiting interstate layouts like the Blue Mountains from NSW, and regulars like the club’s very own Maryborough.
