I think the thin black border and the scrappy border will work. Love the bright colors. Thanks Fallon for a cute quilt.
I like the idea of a thin black border. I think a scrappy border will work, but try it out after you add the black border. It is a beautiful quilt. I love the bright colors.😊💛🧡
I love the precuts you used! I'm on a waitlist for them lolol. I think you can make the border work. The colors just make you feel good!
I agree! The colors are so cheerful!
I am looking forward to making this quilt. Thank you, you give great sewing tips and wonderful instructions. I feel a wide black border then a colorful scrappy outer border will look great. Thank you again, Joy
Thank you for the idea! I am planning to lay some fabrics out around it to see what might work
I think your idea of a black border and a scrappy border works. Like this pattern very much.
Thank you! I look forward to finishing this quilt!
You could do a thin black border then put the coloured pieces around the corners leaving the bits in between black, then another thin black border. You can do this with the coloured pieces on all 4 corners or just two diagonally opposite each other. If you do it on two corners they can be longer on the long sides of the quilt. It’s a really effective modern looking quilt. The fabrics are beautiful.
I love this idea!
@@kykwiltz402 you could always do the coloured blocks with coloured flying geese in between the two black borders
Great idea!
Great idea; thanks!@@alexandra-zaza-burns
Love this pattern!
Thank you!
It's beautiful ❤
Thank you so much!
I would just do a black border and then put the leftover fabric on the back. maybe use the colors from the leftover charm squares as the geese in the dark layer cakes pieces.
I’m honestly still trying to decide! Sometimes I get stuck on the finishing portion of a quilt.
My new fav. Starting this right now. Great tut, thanks so much for sharing.
Happy sewing!
I bet one of the Kaffe layer cakes would work with this pattern.
I agree!
I really love the way it turned out!!!
Thank you!
I buy the Sun Print collection every year, love them all !
It really is a gorgeous fabric line!
Beautiful block, Thank you
Glad you like it!
❤thank you . Its beautiful. Hugs
Thank you! 😊
Awesome block I love the quilt 😊
Thank you!
On a recent bargello style quilt I used a 2.5 inch white border, then added a 1.5 inch scrappy border (from the left over bargello fabrics, then finished with another 2.5 inch white border. I loved how it came out. The white border gave the right distance from the bargello so that the scrappy colored border didnt end up blending into the quilt.
I bet it looks amazing!
I signed up for your newsletter. Thank you. I plan on purchasing your flying geese rulers as soon as i get a bit of extra money.
Thanks for watching and signing up!
Great pattern!
Thank you! 😊
I always do some sort of stopping border and I think your scrappy border sounds like a great idea. You could just add a few colorful charm squares for a pop of color. I would love to see what you finally decide and make.
Great block I have to see the black border before I know yes or no
I think I am going to cut some tomorrow to lay around it and see. I’m still not sure what I want to do!
So fun. The thin black border sounds great.. and then the scrappy border. I would Use 2.5 x 5 (the leftover brights) next to a 2.5 x10" layer cake darks. I would leave the grey one out. IF you don't have enough of the dark layer cake fabrics, you can put in a solid black
Great thoughts, Kate!
Those geese are great! Love the layout, the fabric, all of it. Wonderful tips, too. Thanks, Fallon!
Thank you Kris! This was such a fun one to make. Not usually colors I choose but definitely love them!
What a fantastic quilt! Needs a thin black border. You could then see if a colorful scrappy border would look good. Otherwise, those leftover pieces would be fun on the back.
Great Idea. If I don't use them on the front of the quilt I will add them to the back.
I think it’d be more modern with no border. I love as is.
That's an interesting thought, Shelly!
Beautiful quilt ❤
Thank you! 😊
I Love your quilt. The perfect block,,,,,and color too. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching!
I love your block and I can see myself using it in a future quilt. I watched your live where you were making the block but appreciate this video with the details. I think the scrappy border with the leftovers will be perfect, that way it will truly be a one charm pack and one layer cake quilt. The black skinny border between will tie it all together. Blessings, Andrea
Andrea, thanks for the sweet comment! I am looking forward to finishing this quilt because it was such a spur of the moment idea.
Another option would be to use that left over strip at the bottom of your flying geese to keep it closer to the 10 inch block size.
Great thought!
Hi everyone
Excellent! ❤️
Thanks!
❤
Do you have enough between your leftover charm pack and leftover layer cake pieces for a piano key border? That would look amazing. Love that fabric
I am hoping I do! I am trying to find some time to test out what I can do as a border!
❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
Great quilt pattern. Thanks for sharing how to make it... I do believe that I just found the pattern for my youngest brother's quilt to be made. After the inner border of thin black, maybe a piano key border? IDK. What do you think girlie girl? Take care, blessings to y'all.
I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do, but I like your idea!
Scrappy border for sure!
I think I am going to lay some fabric out tomorrow to see how I like it!
Love the colors you chose! What is the fabric line please?
Andover Sun Print 2024; there is a good shot of the label at the 37 second mark.
I like the quilt, thank you I will be making this one!
Where can I find that 9.5 ruler you used to trim with?
My husband made it for me but we haven't decided if we are going to add it to our online store.
I like the pattern! Is there any 4:14 chance you could get more of the black tone on tone fabric to make a border? Do you know the fabric line of the black tone on tone? It might work for a project quilt I am trying to pull together for my husband, who wants all darker colors. Thanks!
Sorry I don’t know the line of fabric. Nothing was on my selvedge. I got the bundle in a sew yeah live sale.
