The 757 is one of Boeings best planes. Such a marvel.

Gotta love the 757. Hot rod of the skies and one of the best looking aircraft ever made.
the 757 is a pencil shut up
757 is the worst plane ever made by Boeing! That includes the current Max aircraft! Great video though of an Antarctic ice runway landing
are you high
@@pm9601🙄 why?
Whats the difference between any of these planes

Awesome video, thanks for sharing! Would you be okay with me featuring this in my series Weekly Dose of Aviation? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description.
hi
Yo its lucaas!
hello
Lucaaaaaasas
Luckily no one was injured!
Thanks for sharing. Most of us will never get to go to Antarctica so it's nice for someone who has been there to let the rest of us see what it's like.
Its fake…
@@tedbundy8747what’s faked, and why?
Don’t say never. It could happen. 8 years ago when I was still an adult, I only had toured two continents my whole life. Today, Antarctica is the only continent I have yet to tour.
@@SYDAirlineEnthusiast You're not allowed to go there unless invited. Multiple country treaties to protect it. They are probably hiding something very important.
@@huayunhuangit's computer generated graphics
Must be the one of the most spectacular VFR approach
I honestly thought it was flight simulator ay first.
Because you’re a dum dum. LOL
reality is collapsing
@@wood_barrel you’re brain collapsed LOL
Can you fly to Antarctica in flight simulator?
@@JJJJ-lz1vv damn wtf did I do to you
This landing is nothing short of amazing! Great video!
Extraordinary. I would not have thought it possible. Thank you very much for sharing.
VERY NICE LANDING.! Instead of “butter” with all that ice it was a “Smoothie” landing.👌
Though far from Antarctica the Argentine city of Ushuaia is worth visiting: a magnificent place amidst snow covered peaks.
There is a regular air service from Buenos Aires. Been there in 2004.
I love ❤️ the Boeing 757. One 1️⃣ of my favorite 🤩 planes ✈️
Bro buttered that landing on ice 😮
absolutely gorgeous approach - also both what appears to be an extremely good landing but also kinda intense lol
Need more such videos from Antarctica!
In my mind I hear the theme song to “The Thing” while on final approach.
That is funny 😄
So strange that I was thinking the logo on the wingtip was similar to Icelandair and then I read in the description that it was one of their fleet! 😂😂😂 good thing the plane is acclimated to such climates! I’ve been to Iceland and have always dreamt of Antarctica, but I might change my mind once I’m there and see how desolate it is. I’ll wait until climate change makes it a prime beach destination.
yes it is
That is the most classic Icelandair plane ever
That will take millennia.
@@SYDAirlineEnthusiast well, I’m patient! I was joking, of course. I’ve lived in the Caribbean and prefer cold weather so I’m not anxious for global warming to get worse.
I wouldn’t expect anything less from an Iceland Air 757
Strange, it would make sense to have Iceland air landing in the north pole, not the south.
@@koppilork
Why strange?
The cold dense air that offers mucho lift.
It would be cool to have an experiment to find the difference in stall speed for a given model between say, there and perhaps Goldwater Intl, at mid day in mid July
Why experiment, boeing has all those values, they are in the extended flight manual if you wanna look it up. Use some math, plug in air temperature, humidity and current baro pressure and reference the manual.
@ThyPredator Should have guessed.
Still,
Sounds like an amusing thing to toy with in a low stakes environment such as with rc models, IMO
@vanpenguin22
Of course, it's cool; what do you expect it to be like in the Antarctic?
Been to Antarctica in the year 2000 took a boat from Ushuaia round trip was around 12 days. Very nice landing amd surreal place
Yo I tracked one of these Icelandair 757s going to Antarctica it might of been this one?
where was the takeoff from?
Now that this plane has landed in Antarctica, it must fly to the other 6 continents. Once Antarctica is done, the rest are easy.
Now that I have landed in the other six continents, I must fly to Antarctica. Once the other six continents are done, Antarctica is easy.
@@SYDAirlineEnthusiast I hope you can make it. I’ve been to 6 continents if you count Israel and Jordan (I.e. the Middle East) as Asia. If not, I’ve still been to 5, including Antarctica (I’m missing Australia). You’ll probably have to take a ship there though, if it’s for personal travel it’s hard to get a flight there. I took an expedition tour there.
What airport is it???
Super super cool!
Is that a proper tarmac? Or what actually
Very cool 😎. And the 757 did it😁😁 now do a take off
@heroknaderi
Of course it's "very cool". Do you expect it to be very warm in the Antarctic?
A beautiful plane in a just s beautiful place!
@kidconsumer2411
Looks the same as most twin-engine planes.
Is the a _Hudson News_ at the terminal?
Damn nice video
How did you find this flight?
Wow Excellent
The side door didn’t blow off now did it???
A 757 and a 737 are different planes
The issues with quality control are on new aircraft. Once a plane has been in service for several years almost all failures will be due to the airline’s maintenance team, not the manufacturer.
Is there even a tarmac? I guess not...😅Anyways what season was this at? late spring? summer? early fall?
Given the sin doesn't appear to be directly overhead, I would have to say spring is most likely
considering upload date, probably summer as its summer in the southern hemisphere right now
Anyone know where this plane landed in Antarctica?
That is so *_cool._*
Wow...very cool!! Have never seen a landing like this before. Where were you flying from?
Lisbon, Portugal
@@4ife518 you must have made a stop somewhere, that is too far for a 757 to fly non-stop
@@kevindigo22 i dont know where the stop was but that was the origin of the flight
They fly from Punta Arenas
@@4ife518this is not your video. Let’s hear it from the person who uploaded the video.
Was that just an ice *covered* runway, or a runway *made* of ice?
Tom*ay*to, tom*ah*to.....
MH-370 ???
Ich nehme mal an, das war kein Touristenflug? Welche Stationen bedient die? Ist die Landebahn eine Eisbahn, so wie damals Pegasus bei McMurdo, die im "Hochsommer" wegschmilzt?
If you want to go to space and live on planet Mars please take a flight to Antarctica and live there for 6 months to see how fun it will be 😂
The best transport aircraft ever made.
Wonder how they refuel
Where’s the nearest divert field?😅
Gonna guess...South America? Or just keck into one of those mountains.
There's quite a number of bases and runaways on Antarctica, the south pole runaway looks closer from BlueIce on a map but a map doesn't account for the curvature of the Earth.
Flying between Hawaii and the west coast of North America is the only time when you won’t have a nearest divert field. At least four hours over the Pacific Ocean.
Likely Auckland being that most of the Antarctic flights are to/from New Zealand.
@@SYDAirlineEnthusiast Being that most (if not all) of the flights between the west coast and Hawaii are on twin engines, their still has to be airports to divert to that fall within ETOPS parameters, otherwise the flights wouldn't be legal.
How do they refuel in Antarctica?
They likely ferry in the fuel for the return flight.
Bringing in a fresh load of armed penguins to guard the ice wall
what is icelandair doing in Antarctica?
I guess they charter the plane in the northern winter when they have free capacity... they to 38 Flights to Antarctica per season.
Excellent what camera did you use ?
just my iPhone
Awesome
Gorgeous place, one day it will be habitable
June-August it is pitch black all the time, not sure it will be that fun to live there.
@reallyhappenings5597
You halfwit. Most of Antarctica is a no-go area; the establishment don't want people to know what's going on there...
Thanks
nice FS2020 video
Iceland livery 😊 BTW I'm from Greece so I like Iceland
OAT?
Ahhhh...good old Antarctica...spent a year there one week....(rim shot)

The only continent I have yet to step foot in.
The penguins must all be fuming
What's the flight information, what's the origin, what date did you film the arrival, how much did you pay to fly Iceland air to Antarctica and what's the seat number?
It´s a Charter flight from ALE (Antarctica Logistics and Expeditions) - there was no seat number. Find all infos on the website of ALE - they have many different Expeditions with different pricing.
I see. You have to tell me how much you pay, I am curious? I am not going.
@@kevin19358 I was part of a big Expedition for a few weeks. All inclusive it was about 50k
I see.
Must be easier to fly at low speeds there given the dense air.
I didn't know flight simulator progressed this much.
3 minutes of aviation is gonna find this
Is this like a new thing now Airliners landing in Antarctica?
I mean with the 787 landing and now this!
I never noticed before airliners landing on runways made out of snow...
I mean all airliners can land on snowy runways. How do winter landings work?
@@SYDAirlineEnthusiast No I mean like scheduled flights to Antarctica such as this Iceland air 757?
I was always under the impression that only scientists and wealthy celebrities would would go to Antarctica maybe I was wrong?
It's a sheet of ice.
no, it's not new... they do this with other planes since 40 years or so.
@@schranzmartin It's a first for me!
I'm 50 years old and don't remember scheduled airlines flying in to Antarctica with an international terminal and hotels...
I bet he didn't use the brakes! 😁 Now that we know a 757 can get in there, I wish they'd open a hotel and do scheduled passenger flights.
Brakes won't overheat that's for sure.
You're not gonna be able to run a hotel without any infrastructure and a shifting plot of land
Weird considering icy runways would require more brakes than a dry runway.
@@redbullsauberpetronasif the hotels serves penguins and southern elephant seals as the main courses, then everyone would come.
Fantastic video, bro! I want to use it in a video for my channel; is it okay? We'll give you credit in the video.and my description includes a connection to your original video. Regards

That's what happens when professionals are doing their job.
I have visited the Antarctic in my various planes in Simulations 😂❤🎉
same, Captain Sim 75 does the job :D
I had visited every continent except Antarctica both in real life and in the flight simulation.
@@eaglemotion292yep. Too bad it lagged me on me on my last flight with it. It used to work well for me before.
There’s gotta be scp 096 on one of those mountains 💀
Wayyyyy to cold for me but please keep showing views❤
thats a lot of whipped cream!
Was waiting for the snow to stop and runway to begin but it never did
Didn't realize the 757 could be outfitted with skis1
it isn't. the ice runway has enough friction
If this is all we are allowed to see, I can imagine what the undiscovered expenses have in store
Why ?
Because it's there.
Wow that transition from sea to ice!
what are you talking about?
i thought icelandair didn't fly to Antarctica anymore
Damn, i didnt know Antarctica even had an airstrip for an 737!
ITS A 757💀
So you're flying upside down 🙃
Is there a McDonald’s in Antarctica or any Sheratons/Hiltons around?
Isn't that keflavik
Made in America, so what fell off in flight? Did it have a engine fire or two? Any wheels fall off?
no, just a bunch of scientists and adventurers who visit Antarctica....
Poor plane. Shaking in cold, when it touched the snow.❄
For a moment, I thought it was FS but its waaay too real to be FS.
😮
Next step.. A Mc Donald's.. No refuge left for nature..
Where the penguins at
I had no idea airplanes of this Susie could land there
I thought Antarctica was hot and all the ice was melting?
Wait they land on ice n snow come on😳
Omg
This is located in Chile and Iceland Air doesn't flight there
well.. they did it this season - 23/24
@@schranzmartin really? Was s comercial flight,,?

Not exactly my first choice for a new place to visit...
Was Obama and Kerry on it ?
As a polar bear i can confirm this flight was smooth and had a great landing 🛬
Polar bears don’t live in Antarctica
(not to nitpick, but polar bears are only found in the North Pole, not the South)
And that' s why you can find penguins in the Antarctica, no polar bears to eat them.
