I know it's small, but it's one of the loveliest things I've seen you make. Such beautiful graining, such a lovely tactile shape. My grandparents had a wondrous Victorian kaleidoscope when I was a child. It was triangular and covered in gunmetal leather. As a great treat I would be allowed to use it and I can still remember the feeling of lying on the sofa, the tube pointing upwards as I slowly turned the bottom section round and round. Such indescribably wonderful snowflake patterns forming and reforming in endless delight. Thank you, Rod, for the memories.
That's purdy neat, Rod. I have looked at some kelidoscope kits from Penn State, but never bought one. Guess I will need to buy one in the future. However, I am still looking for chickens that lay eggs with holes through them.😂 Every time I put an egg into the lathe, it cracks!😮 Nice one, Rod!! Semper fi
Good morning to you. A wonderful day to view a kaleidoscope. Getting a camera to view the wonderment is an art in it self. Watching the wood take shape then pop when applying the finish, perfect. As a young boy, I had my eye focused on the everchanging cool designs of a kaleidoscope. Keep moving forward.
Thank you, brother! Simple but fun, plus I found a perfect little chunk of burl for it and still was able to save enough of it for a couple pens. I've always loved kaleidoscopes... Semper Fi
My, what a pretty little burl. It made up into a very nice little kaleidoscope. I hope what ever was keeping you from talking is better soon. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Fiddly or not, the results are gorgeous. Thank you for sharing your creative vision. John 3:17 NIV - For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Beautiful piece of wood and great turning Rod. I like that kit very much so I must try and find a source. The only negative is that we miss the rich tone of your voice - you should have your own radio programme (correct spelling).
Thank you, my friend! Very kind of you to say. No voice to speak with at the moment... I do appreciate that though! It is interesting how our spelling differs with the older and well-established English of the UK and her commonwealth. Email forthcoming! Package received late yesterday!! WOW!!!
I really enjoy all your videos, but I was really ‘nervous’ watching you cut down that burl on your table saw. It looked (and was) incredibly risky to do it that way (in my opinion). Please make a small sled for your saw to do that kind of work,
I appreciate your thoughts. I do have a few sleds ready for use but figured they weren't needed. I was pretty safe. No chance of fingers getting pulled into the blade because I used the fence as a guide/stopper for my right hand, and my left hand was never over the blade while using the push stick. Still, an abundance of caution is never a bad thing, and you aren't wrong. Thanks!
That really _is_ and "eggcelent" idea. I'm going to try and fins a kaleidoscope kit for myself.
Found the kaleidoscope kit wood turning and bought one. Thank you for inspiring me.
Another wow project. I've had many Kaleidoscopes in my 62 years, but that's next level cool.
Much appreciated! 😊

That finish sure did make your work POP! Nice job!
Mr H , you brought back some good happy memories making this. Thank you. Blessings to you .👍👍😊
Very cool project Rod! That burl is just amazing. Well done. Thanks and take care.

I'm not sure I bought it there, but maybe... You're comment makes me want to turn an omelet for breakfast... Semper Fi!
Absolutely wonderful work my friend. Nothing like looking into a kaleidoscope. Enjoyed watching. See ya soon Brother!!☕️☕️
That is so brilliant and at the same time very authentic. Your designs are always wonderful to watch as you are creating them. ❤😊
Thank you so much 😊
Oh, how pretty! I love kildoscopes even now as an adult. The beauty of the wood is the highlight of the piece.
Thank you very much! (I do too!)
I logged a lot of hours as a kid staring into a kaleidoscope. Nice job.
I saw the word kaleidoscope and was like - Yes! Haven't been much onto your YTs...
I had one as a kid too, if I recall correctly it was a cardboard tube with a twist end... super simple yet so much fun! 😊
We don't have any kits here in the third world... They are so much fun.
I could decorate an entire house with all the cool stuff you make. That is next-level cool.
Very kind of you to say! Thanks so much!

Hey Rod,
Don’t know why you stopped making videos on this channel?
But I miss them! Peace ✌️
