KRS-1 was a strong kid. He did not fold , he told the hospital he fell off a bike to keep his mother from getting in trouble over his step dad abuse. That's deep. Now I see why he has such a strong physical presence
The fact that there isn't a film about Boogie Down Production's rise rooted in the personal story and beginnings of these brothers (at least that i know of) is insane. Incredible stuff. From my first BDP albums I remember always rating them and specifically KRS1 as my #1 MC and that still holds today.
BDP, Eric and Rakim, PE and EPMD woke shit up in 86/87. I was not a real hip hop head til then. I could give take or leave LL, Run DMC and the Fat Boys. But after 86, it was like shit done changed!
Just had a thought- would love to know the connection between KRS and Bump Knucks aka Mr F.O.X.X.X! Instantly became a fan of Freddy after hearing him on Naughty’s Hot Potato so obviously absolutely love his collabs with KRS. Would be a cool story. Love ya work Kenny ✌🏻🇦🇺
Always humanizing the journey within the game. Tremendous learning about who Heather B. was at seventeen, prior to te reality tv days, also. Steady making people feel at home and do their craft, wherever you go. Thank You.
How does this only have 10k views in over 7 months? Further proof that our world are a bunch of morons…KP is so fascinating…love listening to his lifestories. YOU CAN SEE HOW THE KNOWLEDGE REIGNS SUPREME OVER NEARLY EVERYONE isnt just for krs-one. Both of the Parker brothers are ny legends…I AM HIP-HOP !!!!!
Dam I wish dey talked bout da makin of Heather B album Takin Mines which Kenny did all or majority of da production. Takin Mines is my fav album from a female otha den Rah Digga Dirty Harriet both albums r 5 mic slept on Classics
Yeah I was a huge MC Shane fan, Marly Scratch was the shit. Then came BDP, between ya'll and PE my life changed. Stop eating beef because that song, started researching Malcom X and Marcus Garvey ect ect. Any way nuff respect. Where is the BDP Run DMC story? Would love to get some background on that.
For some context of how shocking their story is: Remember that in the South Bronx song KRS said, "Instead of tryn to take out LL, you need to take your homeboys off the crack..." NOBODY was checkin for a KRS, Bronx, BDP, Scott LaRock anything. The question at that time was when and how will LL Cool J respond to MC Shan's long-winded diss of LL (the Beat Biter joint and the rest of that, which you can search on UA-cam). That's what rap fans were holding for because LL was an A-List hit maker even in 85-86. But of course the whole time the improbable was impending. #LifeLessons
Remember seeing Shante come out a limo at Riis beach in the summer in fur coat or fur vest. I think a basketball game was going on. Summer heat. Teanager tension in the air. The atmospere was electrifiying. The subway ride to get out there was a mission, felt dangerous, the subway cars was grimey and bumpy. The beach water was dirty, trash floating diapers. White reject sneackers. But had a bucket of KentuckY fried chicken.
Gil 180 BX Man, the whole juice crew was garbage the only good one there was Biz Markie and especially MC. Shan was total garbage and the truth. Is that KRS-One in my eyes, and did the whole juice crew Korea 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷😎💯👍🏼

Your Brother & BDP is 1 of Thee main reasons Hip Hop made it .
Kenny, you were one of my few dream beat-makers!producers. You made some of the most rugged beats.

They found it hard to believe they be was getting beat 6 out of 7 days a week. Coming from a household of abuse, I believe him 100%.
IDK Kenny. Didn't Roxanne Shante disrespect UTFO first.
Facts
True. About 85.
Then UTFO came back with Roxane Roxane. Etc.
