You said it with Coach Hurley- it’s not just about the money because other programs have better resources. The fit matters to him. And I remember him talking about what a dark place he was in just a season and a half ago during that losing streak in the big east
Why aren’t the 2024/25 UConn men’s basketball team showing off some of their new additions (I.e Aiden, Liam, freshman)in action in summer scrimmages, similar to the Duke videos on UA-cam showing off their talent. I know DH said that the first summer practice left much much to be desired. I just hope they’re looking sharp, galvanized and efficient.
I think the reasoning is simple, they don't need too. They have a lot of work to do, team is talented but it won't be easy to 3peat and that's whats in front of them.
It almost seems like Duke (a bona fide blue blood) is dabbling in some propaganda to get Dookies and the rest of college basketball nation to believe that they are invincible with all of their talent coming in this year. I assumed that UConn would do something in a similar vain. Perhaps DH is above that as regular season results speak louder than summer scrimmages that emerge to spread Duke buzz.
True dat. I’m a 99’ UConn grad. I’ll never forget that first national championship against our arch nemesis…watching it live in St Petersburg and seeing Ricky Moore unexpectedly pour in 13 crucial points and do his usual lock in on defense. The tables were finally flipped at that point. Good times!
@@LockedOnUConn I don't remember where I read or heard about it but it was around the weekend we were waiting on "the decision. " It could have been a guest on DP show but I don't know for sure. I do like the fact that by not being the highest paid NCAAB coach, it adds motivation for the man. I clearly have selfish reasons I want this team to keep winning beyond the fact that I believe they can with coach Dan.
Free mkt, capitalistic society has mothing to do with it, personally, I find your comment silly and childish! Making enough to be comfortable and happy and secure in a job they enjoy is the ultimate goal of almost everyone! Very few people in this world want to be the biggest earner, and will always be unhappy in life! Go back and watch and listen to your comments, likely you didn't mean them the way they came out! I totally get it why he chose to stay at UCONN!
Personally you can think whatever you like and I appreciate your comments. You’re correct not everyone wants to be “highest paid” but of the coaches currently employed in college basketball who should be the highest paid? Thats the point, my comment was made because there will always be people That Think things should be capped or “what’s enough “ it’s not up to those people to decide… so again appreciate your comments but silly, I even qualified them maybe bit childish is rather disingenuous. Nothing childish about wanting someone you cover/follow/ to get that symbolic gesture,”highest paid coach” No matter how fleeting the moment is.. 🙏
I say silly cause Hurley isn't thinking I have to be the highest paid! Hurley is satisfied with his pay, and tells the press all the time he's happy at UCONN!
@@bobbear4437 i qualified it myself that this is simply a fan want for him. So it’s kind of a moot point if you ask me. Said your peace. I respect it. If Danny demanded being the highest paid he’d likely would have gotten it.

There are probably "other" benefits not made public.

Great job for him to stay. The only way I see him leaving, if it’s the Nets and they get Flagg and then AJ in 2026.
I had heard there was a cap for the Big East coach's salaries
