I know the last season with Eugene was supposed to be chaotic but I’ve never seen anything more genuinely chaotic than him suddenly taking out backpack salmon and then yelling “I’m making fishbread for my sister!” 😭😭
That had me cackling. Eugene is this quiet agent of creative chaos. You just know to expect something absolutely mad will be made and you are gonna have a fun time, even if it's not good. The journey is the fun, and what a journey of backpack salmon brioche to open faced Michelin star level gorgeousness.
I absolutely love Rosanna. Despite having been poisoned on this show multiple times, she always takes the biggest bites, always has the best faces, and is always supportive and rooting for them. She's just an absolute delight of a person.
It is unbelievably funny watching Josh and Trevor do the typical “hey we’re the professional *normal* chefs that make *normal* food” when you’re familiar with the mythical kitchen.
Josh’s analogy of a chihuahua being less of a dog than a golden retriever while still being a dog is genius. I can adapt this to my line of work. Thank you Josh that’s brilliant

I’ve also seen other episodes where they did lose based on it not being the food, and it depends on how close, and watching Rosanna struggle was rough. And the judging criteria changes with guest judges and it’s all for fun. Buuut if you’re passionate about the judging + try guys then maybe buy tickets to the live show! Technically Open Faced sandwiches has their own name. at least where im from in Europe and they are not classified as a sandwich there. Not to mention its made with rey bread, as it actual rey bread and not just dark toast bread.

First of all that would be a hard sell. Second I don’t open faced sandwiches should have a lot of small loose ingredients like caviar and scallops. Third it should at least be folded to a whole sandwich. In the end the judges were right. And if they weren’t told that was a sandwich, it feels like a fancy dish

My grandmother was Hungarian so I'm pretty familiar with Eastern European cooking but I'm still new with Nordic food. I quite like how it seems like all the dishes were actually quite successful this time around. Usually there's one or two that just doesn't work, but it seemed like all these sandwiches were, at the very worst, perfectly fine foods.
I've always loved Ro as a judge, but I think Josh is climbing up the ladder to be my favorite without a recipe judge. He just seems like he has so much fun no matter how weird the food is. I love his energy!

Iconic. And Eugene, that open faced ocean sandwich was one of the prettiest things I've ever seen. Keith's beer themed sandwich sounded bomb af as a concept, tbh. Beer bread, beer cheese, beer battered chicken, with beer mustard? Yes please! Though maybe use cheddar and other cheeses rather than velveeta. Keith staring at Marissa"s sandwich and saying "That looks like cum and peanut butter" while chugging beer and wolfing down a sandwich was so funny. Also, thought Trevor was wearing a robe while he was judging before realizing it was a windbreaker. Gave a kids trying to impress mom, dad, and big bro by making lunch on the weekend feel up until then.
That sounds like a good description of Trevor. He often gives me “youngest cousin trying to impress his older cousins” energy, especially whenever I see him on Smosh. I also just love the banter between him and Josh.
He totally is the younger cousin that's finally old enough to join the older cousins on their 'walks" during family gatherings. He' s so funny. So glad he joined Smosh and gets to be his wonderfully weird self.
I think it’s funny that Keith and Marissa killed there power yeast by not blooming it but then saved themselves by adding beer (with yeast) and sour dough starter (also with yeast).
There was a part where Josh was talking about Eugene’s sandwich and Ro is trying to eat but she is “talking” with her hands and it looks like she is throwing her voice and it’s coming out of Josh. Just incredible. This is my favorite combination of judges so far

Finding out Keith lied about cinammon raisin being his Dad's favorite flavor is by far the worst fact I have ever found out about a Try Guy.

Well starter is an ingredient in sour dough bread, and making a new starter takes days so it makes sense to allow it.

Technically Open Faced sandwiches has their own name. at least where im from in Europe and they are not classified as a sandwich there. Not to mention its made with rey bread, as it actual rey bread and not just dark toast bread.

@@orangeants I've never been anywhere 😂 I'm a poor American. I just like learning about different cuisine. My grandmother was Hungarian so I'm pretty familiar with Eastern European cooking but I'm still new with Nordic food. I have noticed a lot of seafood though but sadly I've never been a fish fan. 😅 The desserts are good though.

Iconic. And Eugene, that open faced ocean sandwich was one of the prettiest things I've ever seen. Keith's beer themed sandwich sounded bomb af as a concept, tbh. Beer bread, beer cheese, beer battered chicken, with beer mustard? Yes please! Though maybe use cheddar and other cheeses rather than velveeta. Keith staring at Marissa"s sandwich and saying "That looks like cum and peanut butter" while chugging beer and wolfing down a sandwich was so funny. Also, thought Trevor was wearing a robe while he was judging before realizing it was a windbreaker. Gave a kids trying to impress mom, dad, and big bro by making lunch on the weekend feel up until then.
That sounds like a good description of Trevor. He often gives me “youngest cousin trying to impress his older cousins” energy, especially whenever I see him on Smosh. I also just love the banter between him and Josh.
He totally is the younger cousin that's finally old enough to join the older cousins on their 'walks" during family gatherings. He' s so funny. So glad he joined Smosh and gets to be his wonderfully weird self.
I think it’s funny that Keith and Marissa killed there power yeast by not blooming it but then saved themselves by adding beer (with yeast) and sour dough starter (also with yeast).

I was really surprised during Eugene's bit that the idea of an open sandwich seems to just Not Exist.
Well then he gave them 2 sandwiches since each slice had different ingredients on it. Open face would be one slice with all ingredients on that single slice.
