In the 2016 movie "HUSH" by Mike Flanagan. Starring his wife as a deaf writer being stalked she had written a book called "Midnight Mass". Jump to the movie "Gerald's Game" with Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood a copy of the book "Midnight Mass " is on the nightstand. Jump to the series "Midnight Mass" which is the story of the fictional book.
So, you can see the Lasser Glass in Gerald's Game(The mirror frame is the bed headboard), and also in this show, in Hill House, Bly Manor.. every work since Oculus!
@@RealBradMiller I dig it! He does it in such a way that your can watch the movie or show and still spot the Easter egg. There is a scene in the Fall of the House of Usher that is right from the Gerald's Game. /I think ep 1 or 2. It's glaring! But the haven't watched that yet so I'm a shut up.
Not a spoiler but context: This is Flanagans most personal project to date. He grew up as an altar boy in a community much like crocket, and later was struggling with alcoholism as well though he is sober now. The very first scene was one of his deepest fears regarding his drinking, taking someones life due to his addiction. He wrote Midnight Mass and refined it over years, it is more or less his personal magnum opus, and pitched it over and over, as others have said, you can see the book in his other movies like Hush or Geralds Game, but it was the huge success of Hill House that finally made it possible. Hill House is my favorite still and has made a huge impact on me but I gotta say this show is something special in a totally different way. Especially in the last episodes I literally had to sit in silence and process it, which rarely happens. Looking forward to re-experience it with you :)
This is similar to how I feel with the show. Hill House is my favourite of his work, but Midnight Mass shares the seat. It's a great piece of work, and I'm glad to have another excuse to revisit it again.
@@DKSean I always feel like Flanagan shows are almost wrong to rank- they’re similar enough that they feel comparable, but really, all of them are so different that you can’t really compare. An albatross is a giant sea-bird (looks a bit like a seagull) which flies/glides for years (yes, years) over the open ocean. Sailors dreaded seeing an albatross because it meant they were still very far from land (before the invention of sea-worthy clocks, there was no way to tell longitude at sea, you can tell latitude by the stars, but this doesn't help in the Atlantic or the Pacific). To see seagulls meant you were near land, to see an albatross meant you were extremely far from land. Seeing an albatross was considered bad luck/a bad omen. From this, it is used in very deeply rooted western cannon to mean a giant burden that will drag you down and which you can't get rid of (the expression is 'to have an albatross around your neck').
where does this come from? because the metaphor goes back to Coleridges poem where the albatross following the ship out of port was a sign of good luck but someone shot the bird and out of shame was unable to speak; I looked that up years ago when it came up in Serenity, the movie that finishes the show Firefly, where the antagonist is called out after falsely referring to someone as an albatross in the sense of a bad omen; I mainly remember that it was Coleridge due to the significance of his poems in Douglas Adam's Dirk Gently's Holisitic Detective Agency I looked your claim up and Reuters did fact check that some 3 years ago (or more); Albatrosses only land on shore to breed and adult ones may spend a year a two away from shore; it also takes an Albatross about 6 six years to mature where this weird idea comes from; but they do land on water to feed; so no, they do not fly for years; but an albatross can fly and glide very far and circumvent the earth in 46 days

I dont think I'd seen him in anything besides The Newsroom, which is another fantastic show by the way, but while he was great in that the character he played wasnt as meaty as this one. Midnight Mass and House of Usher are probably my favorite Flanagan series. Which is wild considering how good Hill House amd Bly Manor are. Start refreshing yourself now on some of Edgar Allen Poe's works before you get to Usher's House 😉😅
This is my favorite Flanagan project. I love all of them, but this one is something special and deftly handles some difficult, nuanced and beautiful topics. This show was weirdly healing for me in the way it handles some of the topics. Msgr. Paul Hill is my favorite character in all of the Flanaverse. That’s not a spoiler….a great character is great whether they’re villain or hero. He is written and performed impeccably. I can’t wait for this story to unfold for you guys.

Hey guys, a good episode 1 reaction. I know some people have told u what an albatross is, but I don't know how much detail they gave. An albatross is a very large sea-bird that does resemble a seagull. Their wing span can be anywhere between 8.2- 11.5 ft, & their body length can be 3.3 ft or slightly larger. They are mainly found in the Southern Ocean & North Pacific. They can fly for 3yrs or more without touching ground. The albatross has been known as a symbol/metaphor for a heavy burden. I took the mentioning of the albatross not only symbolizing Riley's burden of guilt, but also the troubles of the dwindling town. Umm, the "lovely" Bev was on THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE. She portrayed Steve's wife, Leigh, if u didn't figure that out already.😊 O, us Catholics, we don't call our clergy preachers, we call them priests. Another name we have for them is father. Monsignor is a title given to a higher ranking clergyman like a bishop, archbisop & ect. Anyway, just wanted to clarify.😊
Flanagan's reckoning with religion and cults, mob behavior and mentally. Probably also his most important work to date. Frightening because it is so real. Great series, highest standards. Important things are questioned here. Midnight Club also belongs to the Flanagan series.
Yessss been waiting for this one to start. Midnight Mass is my all time favourite show (closely followed by True Detective season 1, which is another show you guys should watch!).

Especially that one episode.💀😵💫😵💫👍 Something to look forward to!😄👍
Midnight Mass is fanatstic! It is slow but the payout is very much worth it! The dialogues are long but so good and the actors are amazing. Especially Hamish Linklater (Pather Paul) and Samantha Sloyan, who plays Bev. She kills it, I have never hated and loathed another character as I did hers 🙂
HOW DARE YOU HATE CATS?? 🚩🚩🚩 How can you not love our cute little assholes? Anyone who "hates" cats has never been loved by one. Exactly the way I did with your Haunting of Hill House reactions, I'm edging/abstaining for 7 LONG weeks so
I can binge watch your reactions when their all uploaded
here at my leasure.
Just popping into say I hope you ALL
end up appreciating this series.🤞🤞🤞🤞
My sincerest condolences to Blake's peace of mind,
and to Corey's calm demeanor getting jump scared AF.
Especially that one episode.💀😵💫😵💫👍
Something to look forward to!😄👍
Midnight Mass is fanatstic! It is slow but the payout is very much worth it! The dialogues are long but so good and the actors are amazing. Especially Hamish Linklater (Pather Paul) and Samantha Sloyan, who plays Bev. She kills it, I have never hated and loathed another character as I did hers 🙂
Hill House is still my favorite Flanagan show, but Midnight Mass is a VERY close second. Excited to see your reactions to it!!
HOW CAN YOU HATE CATS
HOW DARE YOU HATE CATS?? 🚩🚩🚩
How can you not love our cute little assholes? Anyone who "hates" cats has never been loved by one. Interesting how it's always the dog people that say they hate cats, but cat people never say we hate dogs. You're missing out on all those sweet kitties that are misunderstood 😩💔 and I hope one day you get the privilege of being loved by one. Best feeling in the world.
Omg I am sooooooo excited for you guys
