    thanks for the video Sam. great review. looks like a promising product, good to have strong competitors. I saw somewhere on youtube that Ycode has a native collection filter on the frontend (like the Fs filter attribute). excitied for the animation feature, if they fully integrate the GSAP they will gain huge new users.

      Thanks dude! And yes you can filter natively in ycode using form elements 👍 I'm looking forward to seeing the animation option too!

    Custom domain? I’m sold and have just setup two websites and likely not to renew my Webflow subscription. Now’s time to learn. Thanks bro, and lots of love from South Coast of Kenya.

    Alright so I pulled over at a coffee shop to play with it a bit. It's very much like Webflow. I used a template site to check out the structure and what not, it's quite intuitive if you've used Webflow. Look at the features the breakdown the comparisons of YCode and other builders and it seems to hit a lot of marks even with Bubble, though you can't send (POST) information only GET. My main problem right now is it feels glitchy. A couple of times it became unresponsive and timed out so you're right about the slowness. I'm not sure if it's the connection at the coffee shop or the actual platform though.

      Haha I'm glad you pulled over to try it! And yes unfortunately I don't think it's a connection thing, it is a little glitchy in places at the moment. The guys behind it have recently sold their other company so hopefully they'll be focusing on ironing out these issues.

    Hey, really useful video, although I'm still torn between webflow or ycode. Re: GDPR, the issue is that the US doesn't yet have good privacy laws (it's about to change under a new deal with the EU and this problem will go away). It was never GDPR's fault, an Austrian law student Max Schrems challenged in court, the transfer of data to the US under the previous regime (Safe Harbour, and then later Privacy Shield). Each time the US failed to show it could keep data from non-US citizens as safe as if they were in the UK/EU. (the Cloud Act for example allows Gov depts to seize data without a court order). Webflow will be acting as a Data Processor, which means it's the website's owner's responsibility as Data Controller to ensure the data transferred is secured. Of course, most small company's don't know how to do this, hence the issue. For the companies I work for, we mostly do not use any systems with servers in the US. AWS, Microsoft & Google all have EU centres for this reason. However, the new changes coming in will, this year, resolve this issue.

    Man, I'm really enjoying what Ycode is doing. I think they need some improvements (and time for updates) so they can enter the fight with webflow and framer. their forms, auth and flows are just brilliant, btw

    When you make another Ycode video could you please also cover filtering CMS items? Particularly if it does it in real time - without the user having to click a filter button. Because I think this is another pro compared to Webflow where you’d need Jetboost or Finsweet to do this.

    Bricks Editor vs YCode?

    I saw this builder before and tested it a bit.. it surely takes a right approach learning from webflow. theres is still a lot to get better. my question is: why would someone chose ycode at this point, when the product doesn't feels ready and has a quite close price as webflows?

    • @sam-harrison
      @sam-harrison  2 роки тому +4

      It's quite a bit cheaper than webflow which given how many people moan about pricing, may go in ycode's favour. Also having it's data centre in the EU is a big one too potentially. But you're right, it'd be hard to make the switch until animations arrive and a few performance issues are sorted 👍

    Another thing it’s missing is custom fonts and pre-made components.

    • @sam-harrison
      @sam-harrison  2 роки тому +2

      Custom fonts I can't see an option for, but they do have a some pre-made components under "layouts" and you can also store your own inside "components". Also since its tailwind, you can import anything you like which I didn't cover in the video. So any tailwind ui component should work 👍

    • @ignaslunenas8872

      You can add Google fonts at the moment. But yes, we're still missing custom fonts, which you could upload by yourself.

    • @zehfred
      @zehfred 2 роки тому

      @@sam-harrison I mean things like sliders, tabs, etc, since you're comparing with Webflow. Having said that, their use of Tailwind is genius. The "Import HTML" feature is quite awesome.

      @@ignaslunenas8872 this is kind of a big thing, considering many companies/brands use their own fonts.

    What would you recommend for e-commerce ?

    • @sam-harrison
      @sam-harrison  2 роки тому +1

      If the primary purpose of the site is to be an online store, it's hard to beat shopify 👍

      @@sam-harrison what about website with only 1-2 products ? Very niche market dedicated to specific product (cosmetic cream). It has to have all e-commerce functions.

    • @sam-harrison
      @sam-harrison  2 роки тому

      Still shopify or woocommerce really. Webflow has little features when it comes to things like payment processing. Although depending on what features you need it still may be ok.
