The deeper one goes into practising Yoga, the deeper the meaning of mudras.
The 5 fingers represent Fire, Earth, Air, Space and Water, Anjali Mudra stabilizes these elements. When these touch our heart chakra It centres the elements. When the 5 elements are centred and calm one becomes divine or delightful, the 5 elements within me and the universe align.

    Nice explantation!
Whether it is yoga or yog really depends on where you are from India. If you are a south Indian, you pronounce it Yoga and if you are from north you pronounce it as Yog. As per as my understanding, Tirumalai Krishmachaya, who popularized Yoga, was from South India and his students BKS Iyengar and Pattabhi Jois too. May be that's why it was popularized as "Yoga" in the west.

Wonderful explaination of fingers together indicating going inwards ... Thank you 🙏
One of my very wise Yoga Guru taught me that not only during Anjali Mudra but while practising any asanas also, there shouldn't be any space between fingers or toes ...
The way he taught was by drawing analogy that if you observe any dieties photos you would always observe their fingers together with no space in between .. so whenever while practising I was tired or out of breath and naturally let go of fingers or toes (open up space), he used to give that wide eyed look scolding are you devil (danav)? Coz danavs keeps space between their fingers not dev (dieties) ...
