    That is a nice solder tip, just a touch completely changed the look of that solder joint, excellent skill in handling.

    Hi alex. I watch your videos daily and start to repair laptop motherboards other than just upgrading them or replacing screens etc. I live all the way the caribbean island of jamaica and will love your help to have a reasonable thermal cam to help locate the heat spots quicker. I burn my fingers several times finding shorted components:-) but i will really appreciate your help to make my repair business move faster using thermal cam like you do. Hope to hear from you soon.

    How do you acquire donor boards, fobs etc from which to harvest components? Are these from other no-fix repairs that you'd buy the parts from your customers?

      At my last place, when we had a not repairable item, we would contact the customer, and if they wanted the item back, they would of course have to pay for return shipping. Most of the time, they just said keep the item.

    Amazing job....
    I have a question regarding the cleaning swap you use... I saw some vedios you used two types of swaps one may some cotton hairs stuck to sharpie components and other doesn't... So I'm asking about the second one.

    • @tschupbach
      @tschupbach 3 роки тому +1

      Me also. One seems to be the wooden stick like used in Dr. office, the other looks like plastic sticks and dual ends, like you buy for cleaning a baby's nose in the pharmacy.

    • @GregM
      @GregM 3 роки тому +2

      I think the plastic ones were perhaps gun cleaning swabs which usually are polyester based tips and come in square or concial shaped tips.

    When desoldering heat sensitive components, what do you do to take extra care? Why not hear from the backside in this case?

    • @robertpage2023
      @robertpage2023 3 роки тому

      He could have wrapped the component in Aluminum foil to protect it.
      Then, once loose from it's solder joint, had a fan near by to cool it down quickly before re-soldering.

    Customer states both fobs lock and unlock car but IR and coil broke off of this fob. Initial thought is that L/UL and start are transmitted differently; IR for one, RF for the other [?].
    If fobs use both RF and IF signaling to the vehicle, how can the L/UL work but no remote start?

    This guy is rough on fobs.
    I can't believe that it's so expensive to just buy two new fobs.
    I don't know what Mr. Alex is charging and I am always for him to make money but how much could a new fob possibly cost.

    • @NorthridgeFix
      @NorthridgeFix  3 роки тому +6

      Benz dealership charge up to $700 for a fob and you have to go thru a tedious process that can take up to few days to get a fob. You can't even get a fob for older vehicles such as 1999 as one customer stated. You'll have to replace the whole ignition system which can cost up to $5000. We charge $195 to $249 for a fob repair. In this case the customer also requested expedited service +$49 since our current queue is 2-3 weeks. Not only does the customer save money but also get it done quick. We get at least few fobs a day expedited where the car is stranded and will be towed away if not removed. Since we stock all Benz donor fobs, we are able to fulfill the ticket in a timely manner.

      @@NorthridgeFix WHAT!!!!!?????
      I had no idea they were that expensive.
      Well, I'll never own a Benz.
      I get it now Sir.
      Thank YOU for the info.
      I see how lucrative your business is for not only this kind of service but the rest as well Sir.
      I will be ordering some supplies from your company soon.
      And, I'll be spreading your fob repair abilities around here in Memphis TN.
      Thanks again Mr. Alex.
      Oh, I hear that the Russian space station is having some electronic equipment problems. Would you be available for a trip into space?
      Just kidding, but I bet you could fix anything up there.
