The best line ever by Silverman was on the roast of Pamela Anderson, when she talked about how much Pam is proud of her two sons....."in fact Pam's two sons are the only two males known to ever come "out" of her."
I love Sarah. Her story of how she decided to be a comedian is hilarious too. Four years old, at a family holiday dinner, her grandma asked her to pass the potatoes and she responded, "fuck you Nana", and the entire table erupted in laughter. She knew then and there what she wanted to do in life.
Oh yes she was just a little hoot. She was obviously the one with spunk that was destined for big things. She took after her Dad's side of y family they are meant to be in front of audience. Bla bla bla. Imagine having to be cousins in that family and hear that delusional shit. Kelly Ripa was the same coo coo. The bitch actually believed she was funny and the big name A list she was after all on Dance Party USA! gaining experience at being delusional self worth grandeur. The goddamn issue of this special angel all but made poor Michael Strahan not able to get outta there fast enough to avoid dealing with some unbelievable insane drama of awkward cringe of the well to do socialites lilly whites.
I'll bet you love whenever she dressed up in that Nazi costume or made that Asian joke and then all the sudden decided she was part of the woke crowd but it's okay to talk about fat people. Just don't talk about a woman's age
I'm truly and genuinely shocked that she got even the slightest bit upset at the jokes against her given that her stock in trade is ripping other people to shreds. I would have thought she'd have a really thick skin at this point.
I think it'd be really difficult to be a comedian if you're that thick-skinned that you can't feel pain until something truly terrible happens. You can't just ignore the criticism and ridicule - you have to find a way to handle it appropriately. There's a fine line between taking it too far and having the right comedic effect, and I think vulnerability is what makes that line evident for comedians. We laugh at our human burdens, so if a comedian can't relate to being a human, it'll be a difficult career to maintain.

Okay except not really though, because before this interview Sarah had made several public comments where she said she felt it was unfair for Jonah to come after her about her age. She specifically said it was worse than what she said about him because actresses are already targeted for aging. She accused him of being ageist. There were feminist articles written about how out of all the jokes at that roast, the ones against her were the worst, and Sarah played into that. "How dare I still be alive?" she quipped. SO she did frame herself as a victim, repeatedly, after it happened, and then in this interview she kind of flipped the script. Meanwhile no one seemed to care about how people of size are targeted, how her fat jokes were cheap digs at Jonah Hill, and although one might argue that aging is not someone one can control but weight is... well first, that's not always true re: weight, and second, people being discriminated against for being fat is very real. SO at the end of the day, though I love Sarah, in this case she was really being kind of a hypocrite, and then after spending a ton of time saying she was victimized, she changed her mind when people pointed out the hypocrisy. So a more appropriate summation would be: Interviewer: You ranted and raved on social media that you were victimized, do you still feel that way? I can really appreciate Sarah's philosophical side, great comedians are the ones that allow their comedy to interact with the world and with their own ideology
Puhhlease! she does seems all whiny for being called "old" which is funny cos in Hollywood a woman after she is 30 is not considered 'hot' anymore...I loved how MArtha Stewart at Bieber's roast didnt even sweat at being referred to old and ancient!! Shows whose more confident with themselves
I really enjoyed hearing her speak candidly in this video. I'd also like to say that my very favorite comedy is what's used to bring the humor into serious discussions about real topics that challenge people. Granted, race and sex are both serious topics, but I feel like there aren't enough comedians who are responding to the possibility of germ warfare, or to just plain old existential angst. Louis CK hits that a bit, but I'd love to hear more! And maybe think of something funny to say.
Yeah, that would be one way. Jon Stewart is an interesting example of how someone who is effective in his use of political themes for comedic purposes. I just know that I feel much more anxious about the future of the economy, the future of cyber-attacks, or of a large-scale ebola outbreak than I do of race and gender relations. Well, that's actually not true, but there are tons of people who make me laugh about race and gender differences and not many touching the other stuff.

I've always enjoyed Sarah's performances. Looking back on this up to the last couple of years about her other spoken opinions in comparison had me thinking about our own inept and inability to often look into our own selves when we all have flipped on to what we had said aloud in our earlier times, which we are all guilty of in different ways, but find it easier to look at faults in others first before looking at ourselves first is often the shortest route to avoid oneself's own accountabilities because there are an enormous amount of those who absolutely refuse to be looking upon & into ones own very self. Which has to be the hardest thing anyone of us can do. Because when thinking about this sensitive nature,.. it's something we would rather deny about that indefinitely about ourselves. We often forget, we are all beings of imperfections and hard ugly faults about ourselves. She is right about that with accepting ourselves first with imperfections and fault and respect towards others whether in agreement or not. After all.. We are all human. Much Love to you Sarah. You do enjoy making people laugh. And you have a lot of good qualities and characteristics that make you who you are that is part to your other balance you have that we all have. Thank you for reminding me about that. I look forward to your future performances. Thank you for the laughs when I needed them.
She's a hypocrite who only gets woke about anything when she's the butt of the joke and not the one making it. You wrote all that just to sound even more delusional than she is.
I laughed so hard when they showed Sarah Silverman after the roast saying in mock outrage, "I don't need this shit man! Some day somebody is going to say they grew up watching you on T.V. (Jonah Hill)." Sarah, Jonah, and everybody else was Great at this Roast. This one will always be one of my favorites.
So we're all supposed to feel sorry for her? She just basically made a whole bunch of fat jokes about a guy. Remember when Jay Mohr made a single fat joke about Alyssa Milano? Oh wait, it's ok for a female to make fat jokes about a man, but not the other way around. And also to men aren't allowed to make fun of women's weight.
It's weird your name is PositiveThinker...seems like it contradicts the comment. The fact is it isn't a big deal when men age, and it's a huge deal when women do. Virtually any female celebrity in the public eye begins getting plastic surgery by the time she's 30, if she hasn't already started..men dont have to worry about that, by the time a man is 30 half the time he looks better, and ages nicely. I don't think if she were a male he'd even joke about her age, not that I'm calling him sexist; it just wouldn't even occur to him. Also, Jonah was always overweight and just lost weight more recently..was Alyssa Milano ever even fat? There's just that underlying double standard that isn't really a conscious thing, just how it's always been. I don't think she was looking for pity, either, she's strong as hell...she was just being honest.
Laura Palmer Nice little attack on my youtube name. Got nothing to do with my post at all, but nice. Also, are you actually defending a person who verbally made heaps of fat jokes just because she's a woman who felt hurt by her age?!? So the list of topics males are never allowed to make fun of women for during roasts now includes weight AND age. Any others we should know about? Are there any topics that should be off limits to joke about men, or is it an open season free-for-all when making fun of men?
Laura Palmer So what your saying is men can take a joke but women are precious little flowers that need our protection in case their "feelings" get "hurt" Any reasonable and competent woman should be offended since you basically just insulted them. You twisting and turning to try and justify why one sex should be joked about at all but the other is open game. It's not, all humans should be treated equally.
PositiveThinker72 Did we watch the same clip? Sarah herself defended the 'right' of others to make these jokes. You can say what you want of her humor but at least she isn't a hypocrite.
TopherB Yes, we did. My comment is more for the general raft of other comments on the video which are basically saying that men shouldn't joke about women getting old, because that is a sore point for them. Just look at Laura Palmer's response to my post: firstly attacking my youtube name, then goes on to talk about all the poor women choosing to have plastic surgery after 30 to stay young and how people shouldn't make fun of it. Sarah Silverman basically takes the same line I do, so my comment wasn't directed at her, it's at the people claiming "she shouldn't have to go through that!"
the only reason that woman is still single, is either by choice, or because the average dude can't handle being around a woman that is more funny, smart, and successful than he is...quite an amazing woman
Because there's a population of people that want to believe she is offended because that fits the whole narrative of her being a "female, liberal, snowflake." (eye roll).
Buzz James There's no point trying to convince him. Haters gonna hate. Like I said, she's attractive, she has a really good career, she hasn't been involved in any real scandals or embarrassed herself publicly. So what are you left with? "Hahaha, you're getting older..." She should be flattered that that's the worst thing anyone can think of to say about her, but it is a little bit sexist...some of the people calling her 'old' are her age or older, but they're all men, and their age doesn't matter. I don't hear anyone calling Chris Rock old.
Sarah, youre amazing,refreshing..in an over the top ,break all the rules way, and very attractive and will remain that way to most all honest critics..for time will be a friend to you most certainly..
She's not refreshing. She's a god damn blender, spitting out the same shit day in, day out. And yet, she can't handle a simple roast that flies her way. If you can't handle it, don't dish it out. Noone likes a hypocrite.
Someone making fun of my age is the one insult that never effects me. Every person on Earth has zero control over what age they are. Being younger than someone else is not an accomplishment in any way. Plus the beautiful thing about someone calling you old is you KNOW the tide will eventually turn on that person, if they are fortunate enough to survive to old age.
This was the linguistic version of a girl slapping a man, and then that man goes hamsky on that girl. Jonah was throwing combos that were all goin straight for the head.
Come on, Sarah! You have no problem offending people with your jokes but it is somewhat not cool to talk about your age? For heaven's sake you are not an actress that depends upon her good looks but a comedian who doesn't have to rely upon good looks - just good jokes. Just don't be a hypocrite.
Did you even listen to the interview? She spent nearly the entire thing talking about how she didn't want to come across as a hypocrite, and that she defends anyone's right to say anything they want. You're the hypocrite for completely invalidating the exact point she was making. You need help. Watch and listen before making a dumb comment like that.
CashMag Defending it one thing but getting riled up because somebody made fun of your age is hypocritical coming from her since I have seen say absolutely horrible things to other people that includes age, weight, and sex. I would have expected her to at least get that and the fact she got riled up and went after Jonah says a lot. If you can dish it, then you need to able to take it too. That is all I am saying.
russianblueOrDeath Except she didn't get "riled" up, nor did she "go after Jonah". What are you even talking about? She said it bothered her a little, but they immediately had a talk about it and she held no ill will towards him. You either didn't watch the entire interview,or you're reaching here.
She's gorgeous. Only the kids who think she's not are saying so just because her age. I'm a bit younger than her and have always thought she was beautiful. Everyone hits a wall at some point, she's nowhere near that.
This interviewer basically just made Sarah explain how feelings work. Great job.

I know, Jewish women right
No matter if she looks good, she has a terrible attitude.
@@javiercacao7475 terrible attitude? You're going to have to provide a link to a video of that.
What the hell is this interview? She was clearly fine with everything that went down. Why are we making an issue of this?
And yet here you are making an issue of it, stupid much?!
i feel like this interviewer isn't listening to her at all
RyanInLA when do interviewers ever listen to their guests?

"Your opinion can't be policy" ooooh that was smoother than chocolate milk
I can really appreciate Sarah's philosophical side, great comedians are the ones that allow their comedy to interact with the world and with their own ideology
Puhhlease! she does seems all whiny for being called "old" which is funny cos in Hollywood a woman after she is 30 is not considered 'hot' anymore...I loved how MArtha Stewart at Bieber's roast didnt even sweat at being referred to old and ancient!! Shows whose more confident with themselves
“Your opinion can’t be policy”.
Oh, the irony in saying that to Huff Post.
"Your opinion can't be policy." Couldn't agree more with Sarah there
*Aaaaand cut*! "Sarah, we told you not to talk about politics!" I feel sorry for you Sarah, living here in Dk, watching you guys, damn. xD
It's a shame that this opinion can't be policy.
Dk
it's deliciously hypocritical of her. I love it
Ask the Bolsheviks and the Liberals that
Everything about Sarah Silverman is beautiful to me. Period
Well your dumb so....
I'v never thought of someone having a lack of class as " Beautiful".
I was really impressed by what She said about "not for me" I thought it was very insightful.
Anyone remember Patrice O'Neal annihilating Marc? Good times.
Sarah Silverman is human! You gotta love her. Brilliant, quick witted, emotionally open, and yes... Very beautiful (inside & out).
5:00 Sarah fucking nails it on political correctness. Right on the money.
Put this reaction against the Amy Schumer one and its total oppositeAmy can dish it out, but really really can't take it. And considering the stevo and ryan dunne joke shes pretty lame. Are you irish by the way?
jono m I am Irish. Irish American but still, mostly Irish.
she nails being predictable and looking like gilbert
unfortunately she's forgotten what she said in this interview. she now leans more towards censorship...
Just heads up tho, she's talking about political correctness in comedy, NOT serious matters
She is amazing, looking for more videos.
Leave it to HuffPost to emphasize comedians talking about "hurt feelings". My eyes are rolling out of my head.
she was 43 at the time, theyre making it sound as if she was 60
Jonah called her 58 on the roast. I think that's what they are getting at.
That was part of the joke..
Omg
..i thought she 58
Sarah Silverman was the one making it sound as if she were 60, because once you hit 40 and have no kids, your life is meaningless
She will be beautiful, smart, witty and funny at 70...funniest comedienne alive.
One of the TOP-10 "COOLEST WOMAN ON THE PLANET"
Glad i watched this, i had no idea she was so down to earth and awesome
the wise words of a comic. ...your feelings should not be policy.
i think she was far more brutal (ftr better) than Jonah Hill.
She was funnier and brutal. You can see she struck a cord there. She gives a fuck about her age
She's awesome - he sucks - end of story.
He was for sure funnier because all this time later an she still feels the burn LOL. I expected the fat jokes but I didn’t expect Jonah to drop that hammer 🔨
yet she's the one crying about him being too harsh lol..Jonah Hill > Sarah Silverman..
Who's Jonah Hill?
While her comedy is not always "my cup of tea" ... this is the side of Sarah Silverman I really like!!
She can take it. She knows she is fine as hell.
Refrigerator Perry? Can't say I see the resemblance... ;-)
She gets ass fricked in an emo movie while somewhat naked, not gonna lie, it's hot.
Harriscandoit..'fine as hell'; Harris on a serious note you might consider a visit with an Optometrist as soon as possible. I fear you may be going blind..... She clearly fell out of the 'Ugly tree' and hit every branch on the way down!!!
Harriscandoit she was clearly all butt hurt lmao
EVERYBODY'S SEXY WITH THE LIGHTS OFF!
Thank you for the laughs when I needed them.
lol get a life
She's a hypocrite who only gets woke about anything when she's the butt of the joke and not the one making it. You wrote all that just to sound even more delusional than she is.
Was this guy not arguing with Patrice O’Neil years ago on Fox News about Don Imus?
Laura Palmer So what your saying is men can take a joke but women are precious little flowers that need our protection in case their "feelings" get "hurt"
Any reasonable and competent woman should be offended since you basically just insulted them.
YOULL NEVER HURT THE WAY JONAH HURTS
Trueeeee
the only reason that woman is still single, is either by choice, or because the average dude can't handle being around a woman that is more funny, smart, and successful than he is...quite an amazing woman
Either that of its her totally obnoxious personality
Agreed. See pretty. And hilarious. She’s a free spirit
Sarah Silverman: "Your opinion can't be policy"
Also Sarah Silverman: spent nearly all of 2017 and 2018 insisting opinion should be policy.
Pretty much
Eh no
She's down-to-earth and thoughtful. The host digs her :)
Why does everyone in the comment keep complaining about her for being offended/outraged at the joke she literally said she was the exact opposite?
Because there's a population of people that want to believe she is offended because that fits the whole narrative of her being a "female, liberal, snowflake." (eye roll).
So sad most of the posts here prove that people are stupid... You totally missed the point of what SS said.
Yikes, those are unfortunate initials for a Jewish person.
“We are all made of ceilings,
And all of our opinions can’t be policy.”
Beautiful, Thanks.
Well, they just went on about Sarah's age because there wasn't anything else bad you can really say about her.
Lavern
That's an opinion.
Lavern
And many don't. So?
Buzz James
There's no point trying to convince him. I don't hear anyone calling Chris Rock old.
gothatway09 Sorry, I confused you with Lavern.
moonlily1 I thought Lavern was a woman's name...
Sarah is so beautiful!
It just sucks she can't back it up with a worthy opinion or actual comedy.
She is for a woman her age!
Juan Magana ..such beautiful smile. perfect teeth
You mean for a 58yr old single stand-up comedian with no romantic prospects on the horizon?
He laughs at himself so well. Its so likable.
8 years later and she's the queen of cancel culture
“Your opinion can’t be policy.” Something I wish today’s politicians/police officers understood.
Something I wish today’s PEOPLE understood
Well you could write a bill based off of your opinions vote on it and then make it into policy and that would make your opinion policy
Sarah showing that she's every bit as smart as she's beautiful!
You know we're LIVING IN A SOCIETY
We're supposed to act IN A CIVILIZED WAY!
+Craig St. Cyr Hey, sorry I took so long
I identify as a keyboard, a sticky keyboard.
Seinfeld, four.
King S CARTWRIGHT!
Love her at every age. I do not even know her age.
she speaks so well
"...because then there would be nothing left" Brilliant!!! I fükin' luv that! ^__^
Damn, Jonah killed it 😂
love the cup of tea statement.
your beautiful Sara.
he really wants to make it seem like she’s being a bad sport when i don’t really think she cares that much dude
@Spring Cardinal this was 7 years ago so idk if he would be that worried about offending ppl
Textbook example of being able to dish it out but not take it.
sounded like jonah hill couldn't take it either.
but she did take it well. She is just admitting that it did hit home.
Textbook example of the exact opposite
Jonah clearly was offended (Sarah went first) and swinging a little too hard, but you're not talking about him.
***** the video itself is a few steps ahead of you, man. All that stuff was addressed.
hahaha she took his jokes a bit seriously
+Juan P She didn't, she was obviously joking and laughing.
I think the fact that it hurts is precisely what makes things funny... Beauty or success aren't funny at all.
Thank you!!!
"We're made of feelings"
Which MUST be tempered by logic
The most important part of this interview is at the very end. Serve it, Sara!
This was the linguistic version of a girl slapping a man, and then that man goes hamsky on that girl. Jonah was throwing combos that were all goin straight for the head.
So Jonah owned her lol 🤣
Omg, I had no idea how old she was before this, I was thinking 37ish. Damn!
Daniel Gorse you're dumb
It's that Jew blood.
The truth sets you free after it crushed our egos .
Laugh at yourself I am so . But be your own best friend.
Love you all
Lmfaooo this is harsh? Y’all must’ve not heard of Patrice O’Neal, Bill Burr, Young Kevin Hart, the rest of the good Boston/ny comics.
She still looks young anyway.
She's so Articulate and Smart i love her.
CashMag I did watch the show and she was clearly pissed off and spend most of her time trying to diss Jonah. You watch it.
russianblueOrDeath I have. Twice. She insulted everyone, Jonah no more than the others. Stop being so overly biased.
She’s 47 now... same age as my mom and looks great!
She said, "I'll defend it to my death."' The best in-context reply would have been, "Which will be soon." :)
She's gorgeous. Only the kids who think she's not are saying so just because her age. I'm a bit younger than her and have always thought she was beautiful. Everyone hits a wall at some point, she's nowhere near that.
