►A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I'm Dean Wolfe, a mostly self-taught Canadian guitarist/composer/multi-instrumentalist/singer/producer/performer. I started out as a full time musician, on the road at age 17-19, then went part-time ever since, holding 'day-careers' like chef (red seal papers), spiritual health care while raising a family. As a producer I've made hundreds of my own songs for media and award winning documentaries etc. I've been in several bands including a prog/jazz fusion act nFuze, playing International Jazz festivals and jazz clubs. I mostly abandoned the prog genre in the '90s but have returned to it now with vigour 30 years later. My own prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i explored grunge, pop rock and alternative, alt-folk / acoustic fingerstyle guitar and ambient electronic as well. Recently i found shoegaze and lo-fi as well. I have a home studio that is ramping up for lots more music so stay tuned.

Album is spacious. Songs have room to grow, expand. Nothing feels rushed. It’s nice to live in those warm spaces. ❤

the album was produced by Sam Petts-Davies, who also produced the Suspiria soundtrack that Thom wrote. which would explain the more "cinematic" vibe this album has.

I've also heard someone else saying that Nigel is a bit mentor to him(SPD) and there's nothing weird going on with not having Nigel produce this one.

They all sound like jams they came up with in sound checks…and with all these years of experimenting they know how to pull all these effects in the moment with the exception of the orchestra. Deep dub that is never for the sake of dub’n…with bass lines that gently take you along so as to never get lost completely. Grounding in the most rewarding way. And then a Stg. Peppers raga. Guitar lines that don’t follow a linear path but pull you into different rules that sound perfectly natural. Music you didn’t know you needed but will surprise you. 30 years+ of making memory’s.

LOL your face change during Bending Hectic at 20:02 and 20:17 just absolutely encapsulates the feeling I felt when it started switching up at the end.

I seen them play bending hectic in Austin a few months ago, it was a surprise song drop that nobody knew anything about and people were going absolutely insane, they ended the concert with bending hectic and people were absolutely shook

I keep coming back to the subjectivity created by Thom and Jonny---literally and figuratively. So much beauty and so much heart put behind what often feels like the best version of a user's manual for life in late-stage global capitalism. They've been doing that for almost 30 years now. I have NEVER listened to an artist or group of musicians who continue to sound like the soundtrack of right now, nothing like what Thom and Jonny create, with the others as well definitely not ignoring them :)

Read the room and Under our pillows really show their love for krautrock, and they do yet more than well, it's just gorgeus. Also Bending Hectic I do think its one of the best songs Thom and Johnny have made through their entire carrers. Its a masterpiece for sure.

I love what you do but I need to live with these songs for a good while before I could even come close to deciding weather or not I like/love the album. You do a great job of offering a coherent view after only one listen I don't know how you do it.

"I don't even feel like talking. I'm basking in the afterglow." That right there, Dean, is some great lyrics! haha. It has a curiosity to it, out of context.

The “jammy” parts of “Read the Room” & “Under your pillow” remind me of Television, Murray St. era Sonic Youth, 🤔…maybe Yo La Tengo

Even though you've already reacted to it, it's unfortunate you didn't listen to Friend of a Friend again in the context of the album, cause it really fits perfectly after Read the Room and Under Our Pillows -- gives your ears exactly what they need to balance the flow of the album.

I still have a hard time with the meter for “I quit.” Gotta wait to see it live.
Always catch it by the last section. But my brain keeps thinking the snare is on the one for the first half🤷🏻‍♂️. Happened with videotape and the butcher too.
    Weird my brain does that.

Since you seemed super into the jam at the end of Under Our Pillows, you should check out anything by Squid. The vocals are a little more Talking Heads esque but instrumentally they scratch a similar experimental itch for me. Both albums are great, even a single would probably make a cool video.
