My family used to own a commercial poultry farm. We sold it just before i graduated high school so i didnt get the chance to take it over. Looking at those little chicks brought back waves of memories. Keep on farming buddy, thats whats keeping the sane from the insane in todays world.

That is awesome, those chicks are only a few days old and already foraging for food. My son in law bought three chicks a couple of years ago and he has turned that into a labor of life. He has increased the size of their house three times, and the latest has wheels to move it around the back yard. Each chicken has a name and will respond when called. They lay too many eggs. As soon as we walk out into the back yard, they come a running to see what my daughter has brought them. It's so cool watching them scratching around looking for little pebbles to help with the digestion. Yes they are completely spoiled. They stopped laying for awhile, but one stays in the house trying to raise a chick, and has to be prodded to go outside, but once outside she joins the others. Never thought I would enjoy this show as much as I do. I am 80 years old, a Vietnam vet w/two purple hearts and really starting to slow down. Lucky for me, I retired as a Captain with 20 years also retired police officer. So now, all I have to do, is stay well and enjoy life with my wonderful wife, and be entertained by your great videos. OK what was that movie that you were imitating with the guy saying hmmm and hurmph. I love that movie. Take care and keep making these great videos. I know you are aware, you are so lucky to have such a hard working beautiful wife, so keep her happy she is golden. Take care.....Ken, Cpt US Army.....retired in Marina CA PS I served with the 82nd Airborne at Ft Bragg NC two tours but not in combat. I served with the 4th Div and the Americal Div in Vietnam.

My husband was with the 82nd Airborne Div at Fort Brag. I lived there with him in 1988 and 1989. I took up skydiving while there but haven’t since I left. Soo sad. My husband was deployed to Bahrain without notice. That was scary enough. Can’t imagine Vietnam. Although I do know plenty of people who did serve there. To me it’s amazing what you all went through there. I’m starting my first batch of chicks since I was a child. I’m 53 now and slowing down as well. I’m single now…and happy. Loved your story. Take care and God Bless!

Thanks for sharing this video with me. Cause my teacher brought some meat chickens eggs and we hatched them in my Elementary School. I took 2 home. And when they grew up they turn out to be 2 Roosters 1 was fat but I name him Bill and the 2nd was a meany one cause he was attacking me and my dad. So my dad killed him. Cause he was attacking my other Rooster Bill a lot. He was the gentle one for me.

Nice video! I take the chick chow and grind it up in a dedicated electric coffee grinder $14 kind as I found the crumbled too big for the newborns. They will eat much more easily. Chicks can drown in the saucer like waterer-put some marbles or washed rocks in there so they don't fall asleep with their heads in the water and drown. Or you can use the skinny width bottom that is a much smaller than their heads.

I got a bunch of different breeds and hopefully they are the correct sex because TSC was not totally accurate not too bad though out of the 10 chics 3 were Roo's but funny thing 2 of them were labeled Female in Pullet bin and the others were Straight runs. I'm excited now I got Frost White legbar and Olive egger, Black Copper Maran , Cream legbar and a few others to add to my already 29 chics ugh hubbys going to kill me. I do have 2 White leghorns which are my Favorite :( Thanks for the Video its amazing.

It’s is so much easier then ever to order poultry online now,. You can latterly order fertility chicken eggs ready to hatch 🐣 right off of EBay,
Then incubate them end hatch em, When I was a kid I found all Poultry Hatcheries advertising in the back of Outdoor life magazine, then order there catalog, then would have to fill out an order form of the breed chicken
The minimum order, what sex end sent the form back, then finally expect to pickup my chickens 🐥 at my local post office .
