I ended up ordering from Meyer in the fall partially based on this video. The Meal Maker was a big part of that decision. First time owning chickens much less getting them in the mail. Got 8 beautiful birds of 7 different breeds and they are all happy and healthy and just about ready to start laying. Meal Maker turned out to be a beautiful Barred Rock who is my top hen and loved sit on my shoulder when she was younger.

I live on the west side of Wooster Ohio, we get our ducks from Meyer Hatchery. We love going to their open house. You should go if the COVID 19 outbreak is over by then,( it most likely won’t)

This is so interesting to watch. I work at a farm store that gets chicks every week and this gives me a different perspective on how and where our chicks come from knowing they're cared for from the beginning!
Thank you for posting this, I was very impressed by the way they handle things. I just ordered my chicks from Meyer Hatchery because of this video and doing my own research, I'll have them April 30th-ish. These will be my first chickens, my mom has some but these are my first.
I've ordered from Meyer three times, always happy with the birds I got. Good friendly service. Nice to see the people behind the name!
First time I ordered it was from Meyers, I had 3 extra chicks and all of them survived many years. I have ordered from others since and never had I had a full batch of chicks survive until maturity. I would always order from Meyer if they had a bigger selection.
Meyer Hatchery is one of my favorites to get chicks from. I like their Fry Pan Bargain - cant beat a $1/roo!
I've seen many Hatchery tours but Josh this was the best made I've seen so far. You covered a lot of territory in such a short time. We love Karen and all that she represents. We love chickens.

Clean is the only way to control infection and disease. Makes it a lot more pleasant for the staff as a bonus.

LOVE THIS! I mostly buy from Ideal, because they're local, but I do buy from Meyer from time to time, just to get different bloodlines in my flock. I've never been disappointed with the birds I get from them. I love this tour of their process.
Hi Josh!! In 2011, I helped build a mechanized hatchery. I was part of the plumbing crew. We did the underground waste piping, gas for the incubators, water for humidity and washdown faucets, along with all the other piping in the plant. It was a VERY interesting job. It was very much the same as Meyer's setup right up until the hatching. Then the mechanized part took over.
Been following this company for years , my favorite bird is the Jersey Giant ..

I'm an electrician and had to the opportunity to work at a dog food facility recently. I was amazed how they had a boot sanitizer similar to this but never have I seen anything like it at a hospital. Lol it's funny that you said the same thing.
This is a great video. We've gotten our chicks from Meyers for years now, and I can attest to the quality of their product.
We order or first round of chickens from Meyer it was a super fun day. We chose to pick ours up and visit the store. Such a happy little place to be in.

Great video! We have family about 30 minutes from Meyer and have been there a few times and ordered several times - it's always been a good experience.
I just ordered 8 baby day old chicks today!! 🐣 From there company. I can’t wait this will be my first time raising them myself. I grew up going to my families farm picking & washing up eggs & racking. I’ve had one rode island red. Now it’s time to get my farm started. Wish me luck!!

We have a great little hatchery where I'm from that's been around since 1917 but if I lived closer to Meyer I'd definitely shop there.

I really like Meyer Hatchery. I have had great success with them and they are very friendly and helpful. I understand why Josh didn't publicly announce when and where he was, but I only live 45 minutes south of Meyer's and if i had known Stoney Ridge Farmer was there, I would have drove up to meet him!

@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I'm a postal worker in Texas. I really enjoy seeing them come through our station during the spring. They are sooo adorable. I've delivered a few of them to my customers on rural routes. I grew up on a farm, love the chickens.
I'm not crazy about the bees. Never delivered any and not about to.😧😧😬
FYI nearly all farm stores will get their spring chicks from a hatchery, through the mail like any private person could have ordered to their own door step or local post office for pickup.
Unintentionally stumbled upon your video... So glad that I did! It's awesome to see this kind of content! My family of 7 raises our own chickens. Exactly like this process, except scaled to our family. We hatch our own chicks all the way to slaughter. It's an appreciation for life that too many people have never known.
