@Joey Harper I’m not disagreeing with you at all. I’m just being optimistic. I had very strong words for Volcano’s removal. I’m not loving that Cedar Fair isn’t currently working with Intamin, when more times than not, they got exactly what they asked for. As far as I’m concerned, the Dinosaurs Alive plot needs an Intamin Mega Coaster, but they don’t ask my opinion. 🤷🏻♂️ they have consistently made overall park improvements, and I’m choosing to believe they’re going to do something big soon. We just have to be patient, and it sucks.
I live in MN but grew up in Fairfax with Kings Dominion as our home park. I really miss the way the air gets cool and fresh before a summer rain there. Here in MN, if it is hot and humid, it stays hot and humid through the rain.
Last time I was at KD, Volcano was still operating. I drive past it probably twice a month and spent my summers there growing up. One of these days I’ll just plan a day at KD so I can get a ride on Twisted Timbers. It looks pretty sick
Ngl I kinda want to experience I305 in the rain. Also, the fact that it's a station wait is like when you build an incredible coaster in RCT or Planet Coaster, but it's too intense for the GPs so no one rides it.
LOL I’ve walked passed the motion theater a billon times and I’ve never seen Taylor on the sign, same with him being on Apple Zapple on the KD website.
On a good day, Intimidator is one of many with a short line (and it has a huge capacity). THAT's what's amazing about KD compared to the top-rated parks.
I actually really like Anaconda. It's not a great coaster by any means, but the drop through the underwater tunnel is super unique and the last two corkscrews at the end are amazing. Plus, it literally never has a line because everyone else hates it. Back in the day, I thought it was at least better than Shockwave and The Hurler, which were absolutely abysmal.
We had an extremely rainy day @Phantasialand last month (was in the news everywhere, biggest flooding in our area since weather recording started). Our indoor spinning coasters were down for most of the day because water got through the emergency exit and stood IN the station. Also, our shooting dark ride (Maus au chocolat) closes in heavy rain because they get water inside the electronics ^^
I visited Kings Dominion in 2019, and the only credits I missed out on were Great Pumpkin Coaster and Anaconda. Great Pumpkin for obvious reasons, and Anaconda because of the feedback. Glad to say don’t regret it.
Anaconda is not as bad as everyone says. On my most recent ride, I didn't encounter any serious head banging, but it could probably be because I'm lucky. That doesn't mean the ride's good. It's just okay or meh.
It's not as bad as people say, though the restraints are not great. Ride in the front row. Between the mcbr and corkscrew, the ride doesn't do much, except throw you side to side.
Hey taylor! Love your content! I'm actually in Tennessee at the moment and was wondering if you had any tips for dollywood? I cant wait to make it to kings dominion, intimidator 305 looks awesome!
Try to go on a weekday!! If you go on a weekend, the first thing you should do (if you would like to invest in it) would be to get a fast pass because things will fill up fast!! Do lightning rod mid-day if it’s busy! It’s at the front so people will head to it first. Don’t rush!! There’s so much to see! Definitely get their cinnamon bread. It is worth it! Usually Firechaser Express, Lightning Rod and occasionally Mystery Mine are usually their busiest rides. Staff is short, so food lines will be longer!! Be prepared for a lot of restaurants to be closed and for restaurant wait times to be a little higher. Most important in my opinion… wear comfortable shoes!! Dollywood is on a very steep incline and is all uphill! Hope this helps a bit! I’m a regular… lol
@@blurgh7706 Thank you so much! This did help, im actually going sunday so im going to prepare for the worst croudwise, although im sure it will be enjoyable regardless! Again, thank you much!
KD is a top 3 Cedar Fair park simply because it’s charm and international street. Places like Carowinds and Kings Island doesn’t stand out. They’re still Paramount Parks in my eyes.
Growing up my time was always split between bush gardens and KD. However KD is more of my home park . Flight of fear and dominator are my classics. Twisted Timbers is more of my newer fav ✨
Throw any ride in Anaconda's spot? How about a Phantom's Revenge type refurbishment because that would put a new ride in but a lot of the investment that goes into a coaster (mechanical parts) wouldn't need to be spent except for the body of the trains due to needing restraint changes. Kennywood talked about how cheap that was compared to if they had gotten a ground up coaster with thst same layout, it knocked probably 70% of the cost off from what I understand. With the way things are now Kings Dominion would be wise to call up Chance Rides for something like that. That plus they could keep the drop into the tunnel (the only good thing Anaconda does) and only go into the new layout after it comes out of the tunnel.
I’ve thought about what if they got rid of anaconda before replacing volcano and used the land of both anaconda and volcano to create something amazing.
Very recent! Unfortunately the weekday schedule means no Twisted Timbers, no Intimidator, and no woodies of my youth. Monday I"m headed to Hershey for the first time since like the 80s. KD was my initial choice until I checked the schedule. Not going to KD just for Dominator, and no other coasters are operating on their "Summer Bonus Days" or whatever they're calling it.
I visited this park in July it was so beautiful 😭I lost my glasses on Twisted Timbers 🤣Thats what happens when you put them in your pockets, *INSTEAD OF A BIN*
Do you still miss Volcano: The Blast Coaster? I'm sorry Sarah never got to ride it I never got to ride it either. :( What was that ride like and do you know the reason why it closed?
Volcano was too expensive to to upkeep. Alot of issues and it was attached to the mountain making it very difficult to fix. The ride experience you can watch youtube. Once we pull out the station and turn the corner out of sight, we blast out past the mountain and then bank turn back into the mountain. The highlight was hitting another launch in the mountain to have us blast out the top as if we are lava. The rest is rather a wonderful view of the park with some rolls as we wind down the mountain. When Paramount first built it, it also had fire effects before the coaster shot out the top which was fun for those waiting in the long winding line.
@@idunois yeah I saw they had a lot of maintenance issues. I've seen plenty of videos of it looked like a great ride! How sad :( the maintenance didn't go as they would've liked it and had to close it. Would've love to experience but hopefully they'll replace it with something even better!
Just went to this park for this first time this year as well. It’s awesome. I also feel like I’m in the minority when I say I prefer I305 in the back. The airtime is much better and I also found it to be more intense.
I was there that day (saw you in the parking lot). It had been 3 years since I had ridden Twisted Timbers, and I don't remember that airtime being that strong. That was insane! I wanted to ask you if it's always that strong, or if I had just caught it at its best.
@@scottnelson9 Nice! I so wish I lived closer to Kings Dominion, probably the most underrated park ever. I have enjoyed my days there more than Cedar Point.
“What was everyone’s favorite ride?” “TWISTED TIMBERS!!!” “… boo blasters” Omg that was absolutely hilarious! KD is my home park as well, so it made me real happy to see everyone have a blast there! It’s a great park, and with a few additions to replace the empty space, and then maybe finally getting rid of Anaconda for something better, it could easily be one of the best parks in the world
This was July 14th. I know, because I happened to park right next to Taylor and Sarah as they were getting out of the car, and I overheard the other 2 saying Dominator was their favorite as I passed by inside the park. Backlot's effects were off July 14 & 15 when I was there.
Depends on what you are looking for- a themed experience with roller coasters, or a more traditional amusement park with better roller coasters. I personally prefer KD, but a lot of people prefer BGW. Either way, you can't go wrong. Both are great!
We will be doing a premiere of This is How We Roll at Six Flags HQ on September 17th and will be at Six Flags Over Texas the next day for Lone Star Coasterthon!
I wanted to like Twisted Timbers a lot, but man they need to change those leg restraints. I only rode twice and had bruises on my shins for a few days.
I know Taylor is deep down crying about his lost love: Volcano the Blast Coaster.
Gone but not forgotten.
I am too, to this day I still find it weird it just flat land now.
I have the big sad cause I went for the first time literally right after it closed :(
@Joey Harper Volcano was also a money put and maintenance nightmare. It was sucking up funds which could have been used for other attractions.
@Joey Harper I’m not disagreeing with you at all. I’m just being optimistic. I had very strong words for Volcano’s removal. I’m not loving that Cedar Fair isn’t currently working with Intamin, when more times than not, they got exactly what they asked for.
