DIY Outdoor Carpet Removal - NOT as Easy as You Think!

When we bought this house, the front porch was covered with undesirable green carpet. It seemed like a simple project to just rip up the carpet, but dealing with the aftermath was quite the ordeal.

A good example of how one should give hard thought to how a proposed 'improvement' could impact a future decision to change it. That carpet no doubt seemed like a good idea to the previous owner who installed it. What a huge nasty job it was to get rid of.
By the way, very cheap paper shop vac bag filters are available. About $3/eachl, the pretty much take up the entire interior of the vacuum canister, giving a very large surface area to collect dust.

Definitely agree. Now that you mention it, I think my shop vac came with a bag like that. Have never thought to try it. Appreciate the suggestion!

Yeah lesson learned - never buy a house with glued down carpet
