Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 лип 2024
- The Ultimate Persona Compendium is a comprehensive video series analyzing the Persona games, from beginning to end. In this part we get into all the new stuff that was added in the FES edition of the game, such as the epilogue chapter The Answer that stars Aigis as the main playable protagonist. We'll also be getting into the intricacies of the battle system, exploring tartarus, fusing in the Velvet Room, and Elizabeth's requests. This also includes the game's super boss against Elizabeth at the top of monad, which is one of the hardest bosses in any JRPG ever.

I love how the Answer feels.
The Journey is about Life, and Death.
The Answer is about Surviving, and Grief.
Both episodes deal with the past, present, and future for those ideas and themes.
The answer is something I've always had complicated feelings towards especially now that we're not going to have it with reloaded. On one hand it make some decisions with the characters that truly frustrate me. However it's discussion on the difficulties of dealing with a love ones death and how different individuals process it within the same group is fascinating.
It is not going to be on the remake?
......why do I smell dlc or a reloaded remake one year after the release?
@blameekatoneikosipente482 probably the latter, given the history of the series
I actualy like the Answer and had no problem with Yukari's aditude as it makes sense for her considering her socal link. And its what made Aigis one of my favorite characters in the series. I understand others complaints for it but i dont care i still love it
Possibly the reason why they're facing Erebus as the same symbol again in a different form as opposed to just facing Nyx again might be because of the very reason that they are in that situation to begin with. "Those who fail to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it," but it isn't in literally the exact same situation that they faced in the past. It just means that they will make the same mistakes that they did in the past in a similar, but separate situation. Much as how Yukari never really learned to face and deal with her father's death, so she won't really know how to face and deal with the protagonist's death, for just one example. People need to understand, anyway, that in real life, our own character development isn't a straight line. There are times in which we fall back into what we used to be, even what we outright hated about ourselves. This is especially prevalent when we are in times of extreme stress; just as P3's cast are in The Answer.
I love The Answer. In my opinion, the further story is the cherry on top for all the existing characters, and the role it fills in the overall narrative is irreplaceable. Persona 3 would not be nearly as perfect without it.
Facts!
I understand your point here on why preventing Chidori and Shinji's deaths isn't necessarily counter to the overall themes of the game, but I do think it dilutes it. The message of understanding the possibility of death being ever present, and thus we must live life to the fullest, kinda loses its edge if two of the most prolific deaths in the narrative get magically fixed. Turns out death isn't so looming so long as we trigger the correct event flags.
If you don’t play it, and just watch a playthrough with the battles removed, the answer is fuckin great. I experienced it that way and enjoyed the story a lot. It made everything, and the characters feel more human.
Recontextualizing the answer as an exercise in grief makes it more tolerable narratively. Playing it......i still get flashbacks
the high counter proc is not actually required to beat elizabeth. with the right skill set (mostly mind charge and a severe magic spell with boost/amp passives for that element) and optimizing damage with the "pseudo-weaknesses" her personas have, you can still beat her well within the turn limit even after she heals. having either divine pillar to cut damage taken in half or barbaric bracers to greatly increase evasion against everything will cut down on turns spent healing. she will heal once at 50% HP and will not heal a second time until she reaches 30%. it should also be noted her slash/"strike"/"pierce" attacks are all slash. this was an oversight that would be fixed in portable.
27:00
We got the three types of physical damage:
-Slash
-Strike
-PISS
The point of the game is death. The main opening even tells you that you're going to die in the end with the crap ton of symbolism. "Momento Mori". I don't know how else you're suppose to interrupt that the main character doesn't die in the end. It's pretty obvious.
22:28 "We wil seemingly never have an option to save the P3 protagonist himself"
Persona 3 Reload: "Are you daring me?"
And the P3 manga if I remember correctly
Once again,
When the world needed him the most,
HE RETURN!! 🔥
Another fantastic analysis. Thank you for this.
I was literally searching up your persona compendium to see if there was a new video, and boy howdy does that sixth sense come in the strangest time! cant wait to binge all of the videos after this one!
Loved the video. I've enjoyed the nostalgia of revisiting Persona 3 through your series. I'm excited to play it again next year when the remake comes out.
I learned a lot from this series of videos, it is excellent work, I wish more content creators did such a good job.
Does The Answer really remove ambiguity at the end of the original P3? Because I think that if you take the lyrics of the ending song "Kimi no Kioku" as an (obviously extradiegetic) element reflecting what Aigis was feeling, the song basically says that the Protagonist is dead and that Aigis will remember him until her life is exhausted.
Doesn't that make it pretty obvious what was really going on at the end of the game?
It strongly hints at that, sure (as if Christ imagery didn't tip it off); however there's no confirmation of him dying for those who would rather believe otherwise, since making him a literal Christ allegory is a tad lame.
Imo what happens if he is indeed alive, is just as interesting of an idea and concept as to what we got.
@@shira_yoneHe is a literal Christ allegory, no matter if you like it or not. The Answer just hammered it down more, but I mean... Messiah, his ultimate persona, is named that, and even has a cross behind it.
@@lemonov3031 I mean story-wise it can be less literal and nothing of value would be lost. The story could make him closer to Orpheus or Dante; the Christ thing mostly gets pushed near the endgame, while in 80% of the game he's more of the _"guy who traverse through hell"_ stereotype.
I love this series!
I've always enjoyed the answer~
Great video as always, a nice surprise to see today :D
The legend has returned 🥹
Took a nap after igot winded from a hard workout, glad I woke up to this
Can't wait for you to cover P5 (my favourite game, plus my introduction to Persona)
We have like 5 persona 4 videos first
And Q
This might be some weird crackpot idea I came up with but I like to think the party loses their weakness when you fight them and gain new abilities because of heightened resolve and that Persona users have the ability to tap into the power of their Shadow Selves for an extra boost of power at the cost of reason.
Im excited to see your take on it. I've never really been a fan personally. Save this bad boy for later.
Hey are you gonna do a video on reload in this series right after it gets released? I think it will be cool to have a video on fes, portable, and maybe 2 video on reload (one for story and one for gameplay changes).
LETS FUCKING GO BABY
IT'S TIME!!!!
I had a lot of times playimg The Answer where I just wanted to drop it. The difficulty felt artificial, and the favt there was no compendium made it so every fusion was like an investment I was never gonna recover from. But the characters man, that keept me going. Seeing their pasts was cool, and the premise of the whole story is one you couldn't get with any other game in this series. Characters I didn't mind in the OG game got a bit more of a spotlight, but Junpei, Aigis and Yukari completely take the cake for me, and the fsct they were my party for the entire game made it better. I know thay Yukari specially became hated afterwards, but she was super relatable to me, and it made sense she'd be the antagonistic force at that point. It elevated her character tenfold for me, and her and Aigis became my favorites from the game alongside Makoto, so overall, I'll be disappointed if it doesn't return for Reload in any form, or if it does but the story is fundamentally different.
I wonder how Elizabeth is doing on her Journey.
I love the answer.
I really liked the answer and never understood the hate that it got throughout the years
Babe wake up peak just dropped
I am guessing Part 4 is Portable and FEMC
And Part 5 will be Reload perhaps?
@@Blasckk Who knows. Maybe Reload will be saved for after Persona 5.
Do the question next
Can someone PLEASE tell me what the name of the opening song of this video is? I keep searching everywhere and can't find it
What’s the song playing at 0:02 ??
_I should have never found out this way..._
I take it after the PSP version you'll wait to cover the Reload remake?
I like the dark hour because it' GREEN.
Anyone know the name of the intro song he used?
PERSONA 4 IS NEXT!!! OH MY GODS WE ALMOST THERE BOYS!!! P4 (the base game) was my intro to the series itself so I'm SO excited to see your videos on it.
Won't next be P3P? At least I remember him mentioning that it'll be analyzed or something.
@@shira_yone Aha...ha... I jumped the gun, I hadn't finished the video yet. That's on me. ^^;
@@IceQueen975 I'm also looking forward to the P4 vid
Persona 5 strikers was my first one. Got it off of playstation plus on the ps4. I played it for like 254 hours now
Ah I need to try to get better at playing this and P4 😅 i have many moments where I stuck in a battle
Idk if this will top the Gex retrospective. I dont know if anything will
EDIT: I was wrong
Memento Mori is many times in the original and FES OP and rubbed all around the story. So i think it is canon he dies... and to be human.
Ah yes, the answer, a fine story but man I never want to play it again ._.
The answer is the best Persona game ever.
It's too bad that they couldn't have left the ending to the original alone. Sometimes, more of something beloved by a fanbase isn't always the best idea. Impresive that they could stretch the story and mechanics over a 30-hour playtime. Looking forward to more coverage of the series and, dare I say, possible video analysis of the Shin Megami Tensei series!
It's time for extra most basedest.
*slkeoswnislwndnsod HE MADE A VIDEO ON THE ANSWER IVE NEVER CLICKED ON A VIDEO SO QUICK IN MY LIFE
Nyx is a literal alien who can't care less for humanity. It's just her consciousness fusing with humanity's created shadows and eventually made her understand that humanity desires death. Erebus is just a representation of it.
The story makes sense, but the gameplay is terrible, not arguing with that
👍🏾🫶🏾
Story is ok but the gameplay is ass. I started playing the answer in 2021 and I haven't touched it since, I prolly should finish it though. I don't like leaving things unfinished
The Answer, when the story didn't needed to be extended and you do it anyway... You can like it, everyone is allow to like it... But in my opinion is the main problem i have with FES, i have small problems with changes added to the main game, but they don't really matter are nitpicks. But The Answer as a story, i don't like it, and it's my problem with all the extended versions of the Persona games, from Persona 3 onwards... We are not stupid, we don't need the answer spoon feed to us.
The Answer is the worst thing Atlus has done to Persona.
Let's be honest for a sec, the hate The Answer gets is because it's the closest thing to actual SMT that Persona has ever offered lmao nothing less, nothing more.
